Rated - 4 starsDon't necessarily believe all the negative reviews

What were all the negative reviewers expecting? They'd complain if the game was exactly the same as the show. And the game needed to appeal to a wider audience and so of course the game is going to have to establish all the basics!

I thought this game was pretty good considering all the negative feedback from all the die hard fans of the show. Now I am not a die hard fan (as of yet) but this game looked good so decided to rent it.

As i said before, i havent watched the TV show yet, so some concepts took a while to get my head round. (Characters would come out with weird words then next thing I'd know i would be being chased by a big black cloud of smoke!) However, I did manage to understand the storyline and enjoy it even if there were some bits where I was slightly confused!

This game definately kept me on the edge of my seat. The music was excellently chosen, building up tension and atmosphere. Graphics were also pretty impressive considering I dont have a HD TV. Really enjoyed the unique concept used in the flashback sequences.

A key negative would be that I'd finished the game in an afternoon (6 hours) because I couldnt put it down. So the die hard fans may be disappointed with the game but you can't realistically expect the team behind a hugely successful TV show like Lost to be able to replicate years (3 series) worth of hard work, character development and storylines, into a exact replica game. But who knows? If the TV series continues to impress, the subheading of this game suggests there may be more on the horizon!

And the ending is excellently written, it will make you think!

I rented this due to my love of Lost the TV show. What a mistake. If you love Lost, if you hate Lost or if somehow you've never heard of Lost do not rent this game. It is shockingly bad. Everything follows a set path, the puzzles are pathetic and the occasions where you know what to do but can't find the click point just scream rushed game design/limited testing. Rent Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - far better adventure excitement.

was standing in the queue in my local game shop cash in hand ready to buy this game as my mate did an action film dive towards me with a NOOOOO!!

And he was soo right, i love Lost but this game just insults it. if i'd have bought this game i would have been so depressed. The caracters look odd and have voices that sound nothing like what they actually do. Just enjoy watching the tv show and just forget this game ever existed.

Being a Lost fan I was looking forward to playing through this game. First of all, the graphics are decent despite a few minor glitches but it really captures the whole Lost setting. The sound and music is also very well done and the whole thing is put together like an authentic Lost episode. Each chapter even starts off with 'previously on lost...' recap but thats where the positive features end. The gameplay is awfully bad and slow. You are required to run around the island full-filling task in your quest book. Most of these task feel pointless considering the amount of effort.

There are some interesting gameplay elements throughout the game. You get to play through flashbacks if you take a sucessful picture from the camera which triggers the characters memory. Another mini game is solving the fuse box which can be frustating as these parts of the game happen too many times.

The game is painfully short with an interesting enough story and the ending just wasnt satifying enough. Dont expect this game to give you anymore answers to the TV show as it doesnt really explain anything that you didnt already know..

All in all, if you you're a Lost fan and don't mind enduring through less than 6 hours of dull gameplay, then this may be for you. I had high hopes for this one and it didnt deliver.

Rated - 3 starsWas expecting more...

A customer from Rochester , 16/03/2008

I'm a great Lost fan, but so far have been quite dissapointed with this game. Basically you seem to have to run aimlessly around parts of the jungle and beach (heavily directed - go too far and you get a hint directing you back on track, go further and you just run on the spot - it won't let you keep going) until symbols pop up for you to investigate.

In terms of the gameplay there are several inconsistencies, although the movie clips that pop up occasionally are quite interesting as they add another dimension and thought back to the original TV series and how they may have originally become lost and get you thinking back to the start of series 1 (how did the plane crash) and back to the upcoming series (where according to an interview I heard they start exploring more of each character and why they were put there). Most will acknowledge that we all read different things, and to different depths, into Lost.

You don't need to be a Lost fan to play the game at all. IT'S QUITE LIKE UNCHARTERED: DRAKES FORTUNE in terms of gameplay, control and point/mission - well everything except some difference in storyline!

I think Lost fans may be a bit dissapointed with this - I was expecting more. Nothing specific - it just isn't good enough so far. Would definately recomend renting this before buying it (even though you will probably want to keep it for ages) just to see if its good enough for you to warrant buying.
