Brief synopsis of Shield, The - Series 6

Continuing directly after season 5, Vic and the Strike Team are distraught over the death of one of their team. Shane has been overcome by guilt and becomes reckless and suicidal. Kavanaugh refuses to let the case die and resorts to planting evidence and coercing witnesses to lie about the Strike Team. Dutch and Claudette begin to suspect his integrity. Vic learns from Claudette that the Chief plans to force him into early retirement, and vows to wreak bloody vengeance on the killer before losing his badge. Claudette learns that the Barn could be shut down if no improvements are made by the time quarterly crime statistics are released.

Rated - 5 starsThis is Immense!

Quite how the shield hasn't grasped viewers in the UK to the same level as shows like 24 and CSI i dont know. I suppose it has been its relatively quiet existence on Channel 5, but quiet is not a word one would associate with the show itself. The quality of the script, acting, direction and realism of this show puts it for me as the standout cop drama around. Vic Mackie is the lead detective in the 'strike team' whos job it is to deal with the gangland problems of LA and he and his team get things done! Their methods are highly questionable at times creating huge friction along the way both internally with their bosses and externally on the street. The intensity of the show and gripping storylines make it such essential viewing. Simply 5 stars, Soprano fans this is for you, simply the next best thing!

Really! This is as good as TV drama gets today. But, if you want the full fun you'll have to start at the start - Season 1. Otherwise you'll be lost or confused. Superb.
