Brief synopsis of Predator - BLU-RAY Version

In the remote jungle of a Central American country, an elite group of commandos led by Major Dutch Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), embarks on a CIA mission to clear out a guerrilla stronghold and rescue the remaining hostages. However, the hunters become the hunted when a highly intelligent, otherwordly being slowly and methodically starts killing off members of Dutch's team. Possessing a chameleonlike camouflaging ability and a deadly alien arsenal, the creature tracks down the soldiers one by one. Director John McTiernan's film is a thrilling high-action flick, filled with great one-liners (courtesy of Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and the rest of the cast) and excellent special effects.

Rated - 4 starsBrilliant film but patchy conversion to Blu-Ray

A customer from Bangor , 16/07/2008

If I were simply rating the film alone here it would easily earn the full 5 stars as it is a real classic.

However, I am only rating it with 4 stars because I feel that the conversion to Blu-Ray isn't really good enough to make it any better than the plain old DVD version. Some scenes are really crisp and clear as you'd expect from a HD source but then other scenes are noticeably grainy. It makes for a bumpy watching experience.

In summary: A fantastic movie classic with a patchy update to HD quality.

One of the best action films ever, Arnie in his prime and lots of bad guys getting killed - what more could you want? Oh yeah... and a nasty alien. Awesome!

There is no doubt this is a great film, but I have to agree with review above: 'A customer from Bangor'.

The Blu Ray conversion doesn't work, too choppy. If you have been on another planet & not seen this film before or you fancy rewatching it: stick with the original.

this is my fav film of all time. have owned it on vhs, dvd then got the 4 disc boxset. i just love it. i was chuffed to see it on blu-ray and couldnt wait to watch it. i must admit, although the quality was great at times, i was a little dissapointed. scenes were obviously skipped, the film was rushed and the lack of features put me off. the film is 5star, but the blu ray needs work!!! hense the 3star verdict. will look out for special edition in future.
