Rated - 4 starsFor those who love Mortal Kombat and Comics this is great!

A customer from London , 26/11/2008

If you like me played Mortal Kombat as a child and also loved comic book characters then perhaps you too were awaiting the release of this game. Top of my list was how these two completely different worlds would unite would Mortal Kombat still have that 'gore factor' we have all come to love and would the DC characters be able to to compete with cool super powers of their own! Well in both regards the game comes up with the goods!

The game looks great. The characters animate well, their attacks look powerful, and there's a consistency of design that helps make the bizarre crossover seem natural. There's an especially great detail to the game's presentation in the way that damage isn't just reflected in the energy bars across the top of the screen. As characters suffer attacks, their skin gets bruised and bloody, their costumes get torn, and by the end, if the loser put up a good fight, even the victor will look much worse for wear. Of the 14 arenas, most of them look pretty cool. There are a few Mortal Kombat arenas, but the majority of locales come from the DC side, or reflect a merger of the two universes. There's a devastated downtown Metropolis and a high-tech Batcave, among other noteworthy locations, and they're packed with details that will please fans of the characters.

Overall, the DC characters are a good fit with the MK gang and the game posses a satisfying fighting system with a goofy and enjoyable storyline. Great visual presentation and smooth online gameplay mean the fighting is always fun at its core. The fact that the gore is toned down or that there is little to aid new players to the mortal kombat genre does not detract from what is essentially a game made for fans with a fun fighting style that would please even non-fans of the genre! A definite worthy Rental and even a Buy for those that are true fans!

Rated - 4 starsMortal Kombat!

A customer from Liverpool , 26/02/2009

Being a fan of the Mortal Kombat Series, I was quite excited by the release of this title. The lineup is great, with all the classic MK characters along with a brand new roster of DC Comics heroes and villains. All of the classic moves and finishers are in there aswell as a load of new DC moves thrown in the bag, which definately keeps things entertaining. The gameplay is great, the visuals are fantastic, and the story mode is pretty good. I'd definately reccomend this title for fans of the series, and even if you've never endulged in Mortal Kombat before, you'll love it! Lets get it on!!!!

Rated - 3 starsIt's "OK"

A customer from Telford , 15/01/2009

I can't really say anything more than that it is 'OK!'

The story mode is quite interesting with half decent story and 'OK' cutscenes but quickly repetative.

Graphics are 'OK' but could be a lot better with the power of PS3.

Might appeal to MK fans and Superhero geeks like myself but I wouldn't recommend buying it. (unless it is 6 months later and you can get it in the bargain bucket.)

Purchased this game after lots of ummm and arrrs wether to buy it after reading negative reviews but in the end picked up a copy for £19.99. Straight away really enjoyed this game the modes are great story, arcade, vs and online. Online has a really good touch were you can make your own room and check a users stats before playing them so you can play matched games. Most of all this game is fun to play and not hard to play either and the special moves are great the only let down is the fatilities are rubbish I understand they nummed the gore due to the 15 rating and prob to not get blasted by people saying 'kids will think its ok to pull someones spine out now' BUT its not the lack of gore which makes them rubbish its the lack of imagination as if they really couldnt be bothered. Good rent but I would buy specially bcoz the low prices you can get it if you browse the net enough.

This is one game i have enjoyed, even thou theres alot in improvement factors that lie within the game, for example where the hell has all the Blood and Gore gone to. i really enjoyed the preious titles partly because of the realism of the blood. but over all is A GOOD FIGHT.
