Brief synopsis of SEGA Rally

Set to redefine the rally genre with vibrant next generation graphics, intuitive controls, competitive bumper-to-bumper racing and fully reactive environments. SEGA Rally Revo (working title) will once again be leading the rest of the pack with a wonderfully vivacious and realistic graphical world that is every gamers driving fantasy.

SEGA Rally Revo will encourage players to put the pedal to the metal and enjoy thrilling head-to-head racing. Skilled driving will go hand-in-hand with pure luck as you hurtle around looping tracks in a wide selection of 4WD, 2WD & Classic vehicles that react quite differently depending upon the racing surface. The game offers a vast variety of fully deformable environments and surfaces, from littered gravel tracks, all weather tarmac roads, to snow driven trails - no two laps let alone a race will ever be the same!

Players rallying skills will be tested to the limit, as aside from the sleek motors on offer, Sega Rally Revo also offers players an advanced AI that takes into account the racing surface to adapt their driving style to suit. Single player and multiplayer split screen, along with online capabilities will offer race fans an unbelievably competitive and first class driving experience.

Rated - 5 starsSega's 'All Revved Up!'

I've played both PS3 & X-box 360 versions & both excel. A genuine 5 out of 5. As you race you'll be impressed... but more importantly your mates will be even more impressed!! As they don't have to concerntatre on the corners and overtaking they can look in awe at the stunning, lush graphics.

The mud looks genuinely wet & sticky as it flies up & sticks to the car, then as you race through water it gets realistically cleaned off.

The track deteriorates as you complete laps... lucky x-box 360 owners will notice the rumble increases as the track is torn up. X-box 360 owners also enjoy a better on-line game as well.

That said I have to admit the PS3 version does have more polished and glossier graphics.

Okay, at first I was dissapointed at lack of damage.. but after playing game after game you get hooked & realise it's an arcade classic in the making & not a simulation. If you're bored at earning money in Forza, the chances are this is the game for you. Good old fashioned, battle for the win after learning the track to simply unlock cars & livery.

You need this genuine arcade classic in your life... rent it and see, I almost guarantee you'll go out after & buy it!!

Rated - 3 starsThe first game ive sent back on the day i got it!

Right now before you write me off as being an ignorant conceited gamer with the fact that im writing a review about a game i had for one day i must point out i played it a lot, from the moment it got through the door till the afternoon in time to catch the evening post. Another thing im going to say on the outset is that even though it sounds like im going to make this game out to be some sort of Nazi creation everyone should hate im not, i'll be as impartial as ever!! (cough, cough) One more thing im going to explain is that the 3 star rating it obtained from me isnt a judgement that its an ok game but that its an ok arcade game ,im rating it in comparison to the rest of its genre. A rating of just how it is as a game on the whole it would only get 1 star for sure but for an arcade game (a genre im not too fond of) it does an alright job. initially i liked this game im not the biggest racing game fan but occasionally i like to have a break from shooters, racing and sports games are where i usually turn to. unless your a fan of arcade racers or games like radical bikers, crazy taxi id give this a miss any serious racer fans will undoubtedly hate this game they've got everything right except the thing that matters GAME PLAY. The graphics are despite what most people say clearly next gen with outstanding textures and lighting, they've just been glazed over with a slightly cartoon like style which makes it more of an authentic arcade racer experience, they've even got an annoying co driver telling you directions and the screen has various timers for your lap ,best lap, total time etc, numbers showing your lap and position and so on just like you'd find in other arcade racers its got cheesy annoying music just like in most other arcade racers so you get my point it does very well at getting the look, style and feel of an arcade racer so what more could you want??? i'll tell you, a car that handles better then a cow on ice i make no exaggeration when i say these cars are the worst i have ever come across, i thought once i unlock a couple they would get better but most were even worse then the ones you start off with! i fully understand that this was never meant to be a driving simulator like the PGR series but if they just got the driving right it would really be a great game this aspect feels like an after thought and so the whole game suffers if the cars were fun to drive then you would probably be able to over look the fact that theres only about about 4 or 5 tracks in the whole game. Its onlly real selling point is its track destructibility and how the car gets muddy as you go along but i remember a rally game that did this to some degree on the old Nintendo 64 and that actually was fun to play. the only slightly redeeming factor is the online multi player.its fun to race other people and the regulars are really friendly but its nothing you couldnt get in a better racer and it still has the problems of the normal mode. Before i write it off as a total screw up we should remember that Burn out started as an arcade racer with many flaws but look at it now, with a couple improvements Sega Rally could potentially be a great racing series if they ever decide to go down that road but until they do id stay well clear of this underwhelming frankly waste of a purchase or rental.

Rated - 2 starsToo much of an arcade title for me.

A customer from West Sussex , 14/01/2008

If you like the old Sega arcade rally games of the early 90's then this one is for you, given the next-gen update on graphics and feel this is an arcade classic.

For me though I am getting used to the more simulation type racing games the 360 has produced where when you hit something you get damaged and don't just bounce back into the middle of the track. Also, the AI cars seem to be able to bash you aside with ease and if you tap on of them then also you get bashed aside.

Good game, good graphics, nice visual effects just not for me.

I found this game rather bad. It has bad graphics, shoddy realism and an annoying supply of tracks. It is terrible for gamerscore, if ur into that and is terribly hard to get the 50g achievment for not colliding with any of the competetors due to the tracks being narrow and the computer hit YOU. This game is stupid and dont rent or buy it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
