How can you rate a game that has not realised yet !!!!
A customer from Maidenhead , 27/02/2008
Phantom ole buddy ole pal,Other way round - IV is 4 and VI is 6.
ArnoldLayne69 from Plymouth , 22/04/2008
try just asking for the 'new' GTA when you go to the shop (or when you send your mum). getting a bit like monty python, try writing IV or VI a thousand times by the morning! And don't do it again!
andrewglasgow2007 from Glasgow , 17/06/2008
To be honest i thought this would be a gereat racing game but there is some design flkws. When you in a night time scene the dark is so dark it can be impossable to pass missions, like chasing people Maps not clear but GPS in car helps. When you even accidentally bump into a police car they are after you. Once you complete the missions the game is only 68% done and you need to spend ages doing small car jobs. Not forgetting you will need the cheats but unless it tells you your allowed access to certains cities dont bother trying, theey will kill you. Not as great as i thought, a real let down.

seventhplayer from Llandinam , 30/04/2008
regarding: Phantom from Sleaford , 15/02/2008I think people are confusing their Roman Numerals, IV of course is 6, where VI is 4GTA III = Liberty City, the first of the groundbraking series in true 3dGTA VI = Vice City, the second of the 3d series based around Miami in the 80'sGTA V = San Andreas, and you guessed it, the 3rd, many new cool featuresGTA IV = The one we are waiting for :)Hope that clears it up a little.no you are wrong... V means 5, IV means 1 before 5 hense 4..... and VI means one after 5 hense 6.. making this GTA4 ... yes it is the sixth game in the series but it is named GTA4 ... who knows why, go ask rockstar.. HOPE THIS CLEARS IT UP A LITTLE
adstan6 from Birmingham , 31/03/2008
Dont slag people off for not knowing their roman numerals, and then you get it wrong yourself IV is 4 NOT 6! Hence, the new game is GTA 4, San Andreas and Liberty City were all under the GTAIII tag!! Muppet!

Splint07 from Portsmouth, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 04/04/2008
I've read alot of reviews based on this game, seen screenies and checked out the features and all. A major sad thing which I thought was dissapointing with upcoming GTA IV (4) is that there is no multiplayer, and because this is on PS3, there isn't any custom downloaded content. - Alot of previous GTA owners had custom car models etc. but not on GTA IV. GTA IV is also set in the basic setting of Liberty City but now it's more detailed, larger and more realistically feel to the enviroment. You can travel by vehicles, foot, boat, and the tram (train). The vehicles are very simular to San Andreas but more detailed and more accurate with the handling etc. A few motorbikes which include the Honda CBR-like motorcycle. As most games when they come out, it's always worth trying out.Graphics look good, but to get the full quality, as most of PS3 games you'll require a HDTV cable and the HDTV @ 720i to 1080p.NOTE: I have not played this, so please do not give any un-needed reviews, you give reviews based on your time playing it or on the reviews/pictures/videos and research based on the game.
ChrisBarraclough from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 14/05/2008
Writing this review seems almost pointless, as 99% of the population will have made their minds up about this game about four years ago when it was still just a sperm in the creative juices of the Rockstar team. Either you love GTA and have already bought it and played it with every minute of spare time you have, locked away with the curtains drawn while people with 'real lives' frolic and play in the sun before it disappears for another eleven months. Or, you hate it, and make a disapproving tutting sound every time someone mentions the name, before launching into a tiresome lecture about how it's responsible for every BAD THING in the world since Jack The Ripper's days of puncturing prostitutes. But, for the 1% who are still on the fence for whatever reason, and are contemplating picking up or renting GTA 4 (or GTA IV as it's billed; what does it think it is, a Rocky film?), here's my words of advice. If you are put off by any of the following, do NOT check it out: swearing, fighting, reckless driving, murder, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, sex, police brutality, drugs, bowling, manslaughter, suggestion of paedophilia, and the sight of a man smashing through his windscreen while on fire before smacking hard into the side of a building. If, however, you find most of the above hilarious, then pick it up. You won't be disappointed. All the humour from previous games is still in place, with some missions bordering on ludicrous, but the story has been vamped in a major way; no simple 'work your way up the crime chain' here. The twists and gradual reveal of main character Niko's background will have you hooked. The supporting cast is colourful and funny, and the bad guys evil enough to have you laughing with glee when you finally get to unload a shotgun in their faces. But, if renting, beware: it'll most likely take you 20-30 hours to complete, and the multiplayer is addictive enough to keep you coming back for more. After all, what's more fun than ploughing over you best mate in a dumptruck?
Chrausis42 from Southsea, Dorking [Highly rated reviewer] , 11/05/2008
I was fairly disappointed by this, I was expecting it to be brilliant, yet all it is is a fairly average game wrapped in very pretty graphics with a story that doesnt really develop and some irritating missions. If you actually like GTA im sure youll love this, its just not for mekthxbi
ChrisF from 3rd rock from the sun , 01/05/2008
I got this game through the door yesterday and it is brilliant, I played non stop when I got home from work and the storyline so far is excellent and the graphics are superb. For the record GTAIV is GTA4, I guess the developers classify San Andreas and Vice City to be based and the GTA3 platform and the new game to be a new platform for the new generation of consoles.Either way I don't care what it's called just buy it as soon as you can!!!!!
A customer from Kirkcaldy , 11/07/2008
Just the same old crap being copy and pasted into a slightly better looking game. any one giving this game a 5 star please ask your mummy to get you a real game n_n

i have just spent the last 4 days playinh GTA, i only managed to get about 2/3 rds of the way though but was imensley bored.Ok so im not going to slate the graphics, but with all the hype arround this game i was expecting, well, more. Some people did not like features from the other GTA games, like the BMX ECT, but features like this i felt are what lacks in this game. ok so the graphic sequences when you hotwire a car are cool, but that's it. you get in a car and drive. this you can find in any GTA game. the content itself was ok, there are lots to see and to read. look into the internet in game and some of its good fun, but i didnt play this game to spend half of the time reading or wathing T.V., i can do that without GTA IV.the music is good quality but i spent more time out of the cars to realy enjoy it.Ok so i know before i got this game what to expect, violence, killing people, stealing cars ECT, but as i said, all the hype has left the game lacking. i hope they take some of the elements from this GTA into the next one, but i also hope they dont over fill it with some of the garbage that also went into it. take less time on reading content/watching content and put something worth wild in
HRH1 from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 12/05/2008
I was really looking forward to this but feel a bit let down. And I feel guilty for saying so. Lots of driving about but very little to it. Played for some time and the stats tell me I've completed a large percentage but it seems like I've spent alot of time watching cut-scenes and my heart-rate hasn't really shifted gear once.Still its very pretty and everyone will buy it...
EdDaly from Sheffield [Highly rated reviewer] , 04/05/2008
absolutely brilliant. i could stay and write sumthing more useful to you, but i'd rather go play on GTA IV. just go buy a copy... if you can find one.
CypherUK from Stevenage [Highly rated reviewer] , 11/04/2008
Firstly let me just clear up the game title. Loads of people say this is the 6th game, but Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas were all part of GTA3. The 3 cities included in the original game, redone in 3D. So GTA4 marks a new branch, starting once again in Liberty City....but things are different this time. In GTA3 things looked bleak but you improved your situation very quickly. In GTA4 you start off by arriving to what could very easily be called a complete and utter mess. Money owed and living conditions not nearly as rich as expected and it's a struggle to survive as much as a struggle to make the dream of being wealthy a reality. So GTA4 has a much greater deal of realism involved than the other games had. The physics are a lot better, the environment looks and feels much more realistic. Niko reacts to the rain and people react with each other throughout the city. This is much more than just a game, it's an experience. Liberty City is alive this time round and you're existing within it rather than playing in it. The story is brilliant (I'm not going to give anything away).GTA4 is a complete overhaul of the already superb formula of the master of freeroam from Rockstar & Rockstar North and improvements are everywhere, from being able to hail a taxi and be driven about or being able to phone up who you want when you want to go out for a meal or a drink or find out about the latest job on offer (or go out on a date). This game has it all! It's received 10/10's across the net and truly deserves them.Is this the greatest game of all time? Up to this very point in the history of gaming yes, it is.

They are still developing this game, what are you talking about?
INDYJONES from Chipping Norton [Highly rated reviewer] , 19/08/2008
When i stuck this game in my ps3 i just kept asking myself i hope that it lives up to the hype, i played for 5 minutes and i already knew it had. The story and characters are so much better then the other gtas i could not put the controllers down. The missons are awsome from start to finish and the graphics are Amazing. But the thing that imprest me the most was the online gameing. There are so many game modes i could not decide which one to go for but my favourite was free cops and crooks were one team are cops that have to chase and stop the crooks from saving tere boss, great fun. Basically what i trying to say is that if you have a ps3 buy gta 4 ITS AWSOME!!!!
PS3DVDMADD from Preston [Highly rated reviewer] , 15/05/2008
Everyone was really looking forward to this game comeing out... ESPECIALLY ME!!and when it did i played on it constantly.. if you like GTA ull LOVE this one.graphics are immense gameplay and realisticness are outstanding, for example when you steal a car your player smashes the window to get in and then hot wires it!!i only have one small reservation.... how the guy moves.not realistic at all. example. when you are running down the strret and try to turn a sharp corner the guy leans like moterbike racers do and it is fairly hard to contol at first. anyone who has this game or has played on this game will agree with me im sure. but that still isnt enought to ever dim my light a little. the best game i have been on on any caonsole bar none.PLAY IT NOW FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!!!!!
BenBrowne from Brighton [Highly rated reviewer] , 14/05/2008
Believe the hype. 'Grand Theft Auto IV' is amazing. It has an engaging story, well-written characters and some brilliant set-pieces. There are so many things that you can do it's almost unbelievable. I had a few minor problems with it such as the soundtrack not being as strong as it was on the previous GTAs but this is easily overlooked when the rest of the game is this good. You owe it to yourself to play this game.
mattyladd from sutton [Highly rated reviewer] , 12/05/2008
Well without wanting to sound cheesy, this is by far the most realistic virtual city you will have entered.Libery city has so much to see and do you could quite literally spend days just sight seeing or causing complete mayhem. The game is huge with i believe over 90 missions not including all the sub missions etc.The story that goes with this game is well played out and gets you very involved in it 'nico' the guy you play is not just an out and out 'stereotype' thug,he is very human and has morals and feelings as well. Beleive it or not Grand theft auto IV is not hugely different than the others,it is the basic formula of go here open up a mission,do mission go to next point of interest etc.however it is the huge advancement in graphics and detail that make the game'that bit special'.Immerse yourself into the game and you will get the most out of it,appreciate the sunsets as walk through the park, watch the people running for life, as you unleash your latest arsenal on them and end the evening relaxing at the bar. So much good music to listen to with the usual hilarious talk stations.ENJOY the future of gaming, things are looking up indeed.

GTA IV is most definitely GTA4. There have been many expansion packs and sequels but they are not included in the GTA1, 2, 3 and 4 series. I, II, III, IV, V, VI VII VIII....
Venom1970 from Blackburn [Highly rated reviewer] , 03/05/2008
Played both versions the 360 and ps3 and the ps3 gets better graphics and does not lock up unlike the 360 version. The games are both excellent so at the end of the day with consoles you get what you pay for if you want cheap console that will blow up in 3 months buy a 360 if you want next gen gaming and blue ray playback that will last buy a ps3. GTA IV is awesome game i cued for 2 hours for it at midnight and played all night when i got home cannot speak high enought of this game it has everything.
AndrewC from Belfast , 10/04/2008
Hi, I don't understand what people are doing reviewing this game - especially when they are misleading people. GTA IV will have multiplayer on the Xbox 360 and PS3, The modes of play include several varieties of deathmatch and racing, with a cooperative single player mission and free mode. If you want to know about this game look on the internet. Xbox 360 version does have 'exclusive' downloadable content which will be released after the games initial release. BUT, it has been confirmed that the PS3 will also have downloadable 'extra' content. I personally am looking forward to this game, hopefully it won't let me down!
Jack96938 from Cardiff [Highly rated reviewer] , 19/06/2008
Now i own this game and is not as good as it looksgets boring after a while and cant even fly planes :(online is fun, you just go around killing eachother lol in a helicopter and just smash to the ground and kill everyone around you.so i only reccomend a rental and i had to buy the special addition when it first came out which cost £60.00 :(:(:(Waste of money i thinkthe graphics are okay and gameplay is okayYou play as a russian or german one of them, sometimes you cant even understand what he is saying. They should have let you make your own player up. and have planes
RJK from Cambridge [Highly rated reviewer] , 21/05/2008
This game is a bit of a disappointment, the graphics, while good aren't great, particularly at night when the murky filter they use to give atmosphere turns everything into a flat almost one dimensional scene where you'll struggle to make out anything. The constant 'for money' comments from Nico become boring quickly, and you get to feel that as a main character he's far too lacking in character.Whilst San Andreas was far too complicated with eating to get fat, going to the gym, pistol skills and the like, IV has removed all these which is an improvement, but it has also removed the building of a business empire and aquiring properties which had some of the best missions attached to them. The most annoying addition is the cell phone/friend system, GTA IV expects you to spend time taking out characters you meet in the game for drinks and food, and bowling. Much like the girlfriend system in San Andreas. All the friend characters have individual stats as too how much they like you and how much they respect you, it might sound like a good idea, but it isn't. Taking them out is dull, and they always seem to call when you are about to start a mission, or save the game and quit, leading to you either abandoning what you are doing or them liking you less. Why did they take out rampages? The online was the one part which didn't disappoint, I was expecting it to be a waste of time and it was.GTA has been great in the past due to the storyline and interactivity, GTA IV is seriously lacking in storyline, it still has the interactivity, but they've dropped the wrong things and what they've added has just been iritating.
A customer from Paisley , 25/05/2008
For being the most anticipated game of all time it had a lot to live up to. Niko is pretty much a F.O.B. shrink for the rest of Liberty City. Gameplay is slightly more creative than GTA 3 and Vice City but overall, fairly similar. I must say the online Multiplayer is enough of a reason to buy the game. It's a great game, but after a few days you'll get bored with the story and end up playing the multiplayer. Bet you a fiver.

nigel from Preston [Highly rated reviewer] , 02/07/2008
THIS GAME WAS EXCELLENT IN EVERYWAY. I GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS ADDICTED TO IT AND HAD TO COMPLETE IT WHICH I DID AFTER A GREAT DEAL OF TIME WHICH MADE ME MORE DETERMIND TO COMPLETE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS GAME TO ANYONE ABOVE THE AGE OF 16 AS THERE IS SWEARING AND ALOT OF VIOLENCE IN THE GAME.
lee jackson from colchester [Highly rated reviewer] , 11/06/2008
im very unhappy about this game no tank for starters plane nope all the good bits from 3 are left out its still worth playing but don't get your hopes up.
JohnnyFxCKingW from Walsall , 31/05/2008
I was excited for the release of this game as I'm sure the vast population of countries containing people owning games consoles that accommodate the format liable to play this game would be (phwoarr what a mouthful of bull.)I'm gonna keep this short, so Anyways it was great, for the first 10hours or so.The popular Customising features for story mode released in 'San Andreas' such as hairstyles/colours, bodywork and paint for your cars have been abolished, i was quite sad really i always wondered what Niko would look like with blonde dreadlocks. HOWEVER. thankfully you can still purchase a rather diminishing set of varied clothes from a handful of stores throughout liberty city, But its hardly satisfying and the suits containing ties or fully buttoned shirts are nothing short of repulsive. The Story mode is Dull, uninteresting, repetitive and predictable you go through the whole game with dim witted missions to earn money Which you have NOTHING to spend it on, other than weapons which are especially boring once you have completed the game Other than the RPG which tbf i Have to give them credit for 'cause its just the best damn RPG i've ever virtually fired, its so satisfying.(ESPECIALLY!! when your online and some hotshot middle aged man from a country you can't even pronounce is swearing at you over the headset 'cause he's sick of you 'head-shooting' him with the sniper eveytime he spawns and then he gets so damn angry he steals a turismo from some street corner and then speeds straight at you laughing 'cause he thinks you just have a pistol and then you quickly switch to RPG and Blow him to Pieces before he gets any closer than 5ft with doors flying over head, its a special Feeling of OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Haha! Owned XD)Which leads me on to my next point. Online Play, you get Cash for every Kill $100 to be precise this money in turn increases your level after each cash checkpoint the higher your level the greater access you have to content such as jeans/trousers shirts/jackets and various 'heads' hats and glasses to customize your online character with who is NOT Niko just so that you know, And each time you advance a level the higher the next cash requirement is to level, im sure the only reason they added this in was to make it more appealing and competitive however this does get rather dull and tedious once you hit around level 5, and if you want Tips on Power leveling, cut out all the fun enjoyable missions and Just repeat; 'Bomb da base II', 'Hangman's NOOSE' and 'Deal breaker' as you will recieve the most of cash however after the 4th time of doing this you are likely to be sick of your own miserable existence and feel the need to slaughter your team mates to relieve some stress, Gutted Friendly fire's nearly always off (RPG there's asses and the fall will take care of them, also leaves more cash for you)In Conclusion, its an abysmal Disappointment to a great series but of course Your not going to listen to me, No body will! just go ahead and buy the game infact! if you want it i'll Sell you my copy (No joke) £30 by Paypal and i'll post it to you (seriously) ask for further details (Y) Ciao.
A customer from berkshire , 27/09/2008
The ps2 grand theft auto games are more fun with better characters, humour and cars that are way better to drive. Even the graphics didn't live up to the hype. poor
A customer from farnham , 08/05/2008
Overall a fantastic game and very addictive. If I have only one small gripe (very small) I remember in the vice city (?) game you could use a cheat code to get a jet plane, a jet backpack and a parachute which kept me entertained for weeks. Unfortunately they dont seem to have any of these. Why take out something so good? Silly rockstar!
DaveyR3 from Newcastle upon Tyne , 17/03/2009
Visual brilliance, this is by my favourite game of all time, the attention to detail is outstanding and the graphics are amazing. If you want an open free to explore game then this is for you. I do feel that some of the missions are a bit repetative but overall the story missions are good fun. I would deffinantly recomend this game to anyone who enjoy's detailed emersive graphics and game play
A customer from Birmingham , 17/01/2009
Had this game since release and have to say it was a big let down. This is the future of home entertainment then they release this. Lets hope there are some vast inprovements in the next one as this one is boring, easy, and dragged out.
A customer from Huddersfield , 31/12/2008
GTA is always the same... it will never change, I know the story lines different but the game play is the same, only in more detail. Did not like it at all.
A customer from London , 24/10/2008
well top top game just cant be beat, u name it its got it..
A customer from Norwich, Norfolk , 30/09/2008
Yep more of the same stealing cars, doing stunts and violence, not a great deal different to the previous GTA. Graphically it might be slightly better but having played 'Force Unleashed' then GTA IV looks old in comparison. It doesn't seem to make full use of what the PS3 is capable of. The story line didn't draw me in and the violence gets boring very quickly. There are better games I'd recommend first.
ToxicTouch from Bilston , 14/07/2008
The fun you can have these game is endless. Whether you rent/buy this to get in to the missions and play this hardcore style or you are like me and like to play around in Liberty City you will enjoy it! Best in the series so far and worth every penny!
A customer from Peterborough , 23/06/2008
Anyone that says this is bring would be lying. The game has a great story line and the graphics have come such a long way. This is a must have game, full stop!!!!
reincarnationfish from Leeds , 06/12/2009
I recently got a PS3 and bought this as a first game based on the ecstatic reviews on Metacritic. How could they be more wrong? It falls short of the San Andreas on almost every level except for having fancier graphics, but here a few major problems:Firstly, it's short on likeable characters, one of SA's greatest strengths.Secondly, it has a retry mission option which encourages you to redo a mission until it's complete - in the older version when you messed up a mission that was usually your cue to go off and do something else - explore for example for while, and come back to the main plot later.Third up, much of the new stuff in this game is not relevent to actually playing the game, like watching TV, surfing the net or going bowling, on the other hand, the mini game bits that are missing like graffiti are ones which encouraged you to explore and get to know your environment. But finally, here's the biggest problem - the missions are very repetitive, lots of huge shootouts and very few car chases. Yes that's right, there aren't many car chases in this game. In GTA. What were they thinking? Why didn't they just call it Grand Shootout?Anyway, it's still fun, because GTA is fun, and I did play the game through to the end, but if you've played San Andreas, then you'll feel very let down.
Axemad from Oswestry , 03/08/2009
Good fun. Would have been better with the game box to give me a clue as to what to do though! Very similar to San Andreas.
A customer from Banff , 22/07/2009
Now maybe its not as good as san andreas but im telling you to see such a graphic difference and the damage is realistic its cool. By the way, 2 new pack for xbox 360 in 2010 and GTA 5 in 2011 fiscal, announced by rockstar.
Bretmaster5 from Birmingham , 22/07/2009
This game is great it really is the graphics and the gameplay along with the physics and overall fun factor but there's a problem with this game it tends to repeat it self over and over again ..- Get Car- Collect- Kill- ReturnIf not that then rotate them reason why im giving at high star rating is because the gameplay , graphics , sound , and overall hardwork kinda pays off rent this game you will have fun but be warned you will eventually give up missions for a while
A customer from Bristol , 14/06/2009
GTA IV is, in my opinion the best game of 2008. Gameplay wise it is just like the previous GTA games and the graphics are some of the best I have ever seen. Of course it takes a certain type of sick humor to like it - so not for everyone.
LovefilmBlythy from Bolton , 06/06/2009
This is the best game I have ever played and I would recommend everybody rents this, if you don't want to buy it.There is so much variety in this virtual city. Everything can be touched, used, broken, stolen, punched etc.The missions vary greatly and although this is one of the longest games I've played, not once did any of them feel mundane.I just couldn't turn my PS3 off.The main story missions can be completed in around 20 hours and they are all lots of fun...but that only covers about 60% of the game. The rest of the game is mini missions and you can complete as many or as few of these as you like. The graphics are stunning, the plot is interesting and you can't withdraw from it, the cars/bikes/helicopters are fun to drive. The attention to detail in this game is incredible, a work of art, and if you do rent this game there is a very good chance you will buy it afterwards. My favourite bit is the TW@ Internet Cafe where you can check your e-mails for missions or mail from your friends and family (on the game), or simply browse the web which is enough in itself to keep you entertained for an hour.Truly Stunning, Rockstar should be proud of this one!
Jonesee from Oldham , 08/05/2009
the game is mint, everything you would expect from the GTA series, the only thing i did not like was the playing screen was very dark and i had to adjust my brightness setting on my tv to full which at times was a pain but if you can get past that its well worth it. i will be buying this game for my collection as its one you can pick up again and again

Definitely worth a rent but if you want to get the most out of it you really have to buy it! Great!
HEvans from Ammanford , 27/02/2009
This game reminded me of the 80's, the graphics are better but the theme is still stuck in the 80's
A customer from Birmingham , 25/02/2009
I was very dissapointed with this game, for me it was no where near as playable as the previous GTA's on PS2.The graphics are very godd and sharp, but gameplay is not the best, and felt myself getting bored after a few hours of play, which is unusual for GTA as the game is so massive.Positives:** Great Graphics** Lots Of Chocie Of Cars - Land Rovers, Corvettes, Hummers etc....** Good Choice of Weapons** GPS In Car was very helpfulNegatives:** Hard To Control Car When Driving** Storyline Wasn't The Best** Sound wasn't The Best, Couldn't Hear The Talking Too Good** Hard To Use Map
A customer from England , 25/01/2009
I rented this for the PS3 because I didn't really know what titles to pick for the PS3 to be honest. This has turned out to be a blast, I have not played GTA since the old GTA2 days on PC and this is fun and mayhem and them some. The graphics probably are not PC class and I guess the PC would probably run it better but its great on the big screen TV, sat on the sofa with full surround sound. The missions are fun, the cars and music are superb. The only two negatives I can see are the controls are not the best and sometimes seem a bit fiddly, especially when on foot. Also at least on the PS3 and the graphics could have been better, and no doubt would have been if it was a PS3 exclusive, seems the PC converted games never get the proper PS3 gloss. Still I have now ordered this retail and can't wait to own my own copy and return the rental.
A customer from Wishaw , 03/01/2009
Before I start I will say that I did enjoy this game but not to the extent that I went mad for it and played it all night.Lets start with the missions... These are varied enough & should keep your interest for quite some time. They range from driving to shooting to collecting amongst other more mundane tasks like setting up your internet account at the local dot com cafe. Then we have the rags to (hopefully) riches story of the main charator Niko. Arriving in Liberty City after being told his cousin has made it big only to discover that this is not nesessarily the case! The story is pretty good & the charactors in it are generally likeable although as with most things you will find a few that will grate on your nerves... the example that comes to mind is one of your potential girlfriends! This leads me onto some of the newer additions to the game.First you have friends... your friends will call you at all hours asking you to do them favours or take them somewhere or just to hang out with them. If you do any of these you will gain favour from the person. Places you can take your friends/girlfriends are bars, play darts/pool/bowling, strip clubs & for food. I personally found the pool & bowling mini games a little frustrating but the darts was alot of fun. Bars are cool too... you dont see Niko drinking but after a quick loading screen he has emerged from the bar somewhat worse for wear... he'll stagger around the place while his friend/date may say some things that they might regret in the morning! Its not adviseable to drive in this condition as it's hard enough to walk & if you get caught by the police you're going to have a problem! Your apartment has a TV... it's worth giving this a look as you might actually find yourself spending some time just sitting watching the shows on the TV in Niko's apartment because some of them really are good enough to draw your attention away from the actual game itself! The internet is a nice touch & again it's worth taking some time out to have a look at some of the websites on offer as they can be quite entertaining!Driving around Liberty City is, as always, alot of fun. The sights are good, the radio is excellent & if you're on a mission the banter in the car can be quite entertaining (something worthy of note that I quite liked is the fact that if you have to replay a mission a second time the conversation will be different & if you have to replay it a third time it's gets suggested that you just listen to the radio! A nice touch & keeps it slightly fresher). The cars handle well & you can feel a difference from model to model.Even something as simple as just walking around the streets can be fun... you over hear conversations that once again can be funny & worth a listen. The new duck & cover fighting mechanic is a nice addition. Niko can take cover behind things & fire from relative safety which is obviously something that I think most of us have been after for a while in this series & it's good to see they finally have it!The graphics look good, the acting is good &, as always, the humour is second to none (Ricky Gervais makes guest appearances on the radio, TV & in the comedy club & if you're a fan of his you should definately check this out as some of the stuff is new!).I'm not a massive fan of the series & thought I'd pop this review up as a non-biased one. I would say that if you like open ended games where you can do & go where you want when you want & like something a little gritty, very funny & non PC (which is rare these days) then this is a very wise purchase but beware some missions are a little frustrating and will drive you nuts but on the whole this is definately a game worth owning and something you will enjoy

I played GTA3 and vice city but never completed them. Although i had always been impressed by the open world and driving aspects. This GTA takes it further by immersing the storyline into gameplay. The story spans over hours and is very well written although some chapters feel a bit rushed. I won't spoil it for you. The graphics are impressive for a sandbox type game which normally have bland graphics. The vehicles, people and environment is very well detailed and adds to the immersion of the player. The enemy AI is solid especially while driving, you'll notice as you advance through the game that it gets harder and harder but the progressive difficulty gives you plenty of time to adjust. The gameplay is very varied, for me driving was the main part, driving mechanics are great when driving slow and when driving like a racer, forgiving to an extent without becoming too easy. The shooting mechanics are adequate but should play more like a third person shooter when you unholster your gun in my opinion. Platforming is ok, nothing impressive there.I was very impressed with the variety of the gameplay and missions which always offered something new. The multiplayer was a lot of fun but the play area should have been reduced or limited as its too big and takes ages to get to other players.Great game, great story, great gameplay, great graphics, lackluster ending.

well....not a bad game but if u ask me they have kinda screwed this title up a lil.instead of inproving what recent gta,s have offered they have simply taken them out for instance ...not many weapons and like the last installment i loved getting new cloths..haircuts learning different fighting techniques weight lifting u know the usual crap while not doing missions.well theres hardly any in here a few crappy cloths shops and thats about it.this game coulda been a hel of a lot better.my advice would be skip this get saints row 2

this is not the definite Grand Theft Auto expiriance this is just a great debut for the classic series on next generation hardware. it is lacking the magic that made vice city and san andreas so brilliant liberty city while technically the most realistic liing breathing city in any game just lacks the magic that made the ps2 games outstandingThat may sound s if i hate the game but it is really quite the oppisite the gameplay has erased most issues i prieviously had with it introducing a coveer system to on foot action and shooting in cars is now much easier even if the car handiling isnt the best in the series. the game has went more realistic meaning none of the crazy san andres stuunts but the missions offer some of the best yet espicially a Heat style bank robbery so still a great game all round and the best graphics ever seen in the sandbox genre

Let me start by saying i have always bought GTA games but have in no way been a fan boy. They usually just involve doing missions by different people with a poor attempt at a storyline in between, however, this one is different. It takes a little while before the storyline starts to kick in, thus the usual missions at first. But this game is the first one of the series to actually keep you wanting to know what happens after the game has finished. The only thing i did not like it seems like all the cars handle poorly, which makes the missions that involve chasing other people some what difficult. Gameplay 5/5 graphics for acity this big with hardly any loading times except on missions 5/5, the usual mad soundtracks. Definately at minimum worth a purchase, i will be buying this game to show my support for everything the creators did, no one will be disapointed with this game

Great all round game, flawless, and great title to rent. My only problem is i havent got the patience to do all the missions,so drove round for a while, did the weapon cheat, then got bit bored and sent it back,

First of all there are a lot of bad reviews about this game being boring and the graphics being blurry. For the reviews about graphics people get a HD screen and take your head outer the Stone Age. And for the reviews that think its boring what games you being playing lately. Last game I played that was terrible was halo 3 but its beside the point GTA IV has to be the best in its generation and the best the ps3/xbox360 has offered to date (forget about your drakes fortune and call of duty 4) this game pushes the best out of GTA is not as big as san andreas but equally beautiful. A piece of art!!Graphics: 10/10 beautiful graphics need a HD toGame play: 9/10 game play gets better and better with a new cover systemControls : 8/10 tricky at firstLifespan: 7/10 not much meat on the storyline taking 2-3 days to complete mayb lessOverall 10/10 the best in GTA and so far and the best on ps3 worth the rent no matter what theses haters say!!

GTA4 is the greatest game of all time without doubt....the attention to detail is unmatchable....everything about it is amazing.....not one critisicm....except that it may be too amazing......!
A customer from Wembley , 15/07/2008
LIttle disappointed - I last played GTA 3 on the PC and felt the same. From playing IV initially it seems so much similar to previous games with some enhancements.Which is what I guess youd expect - but Im not sure how its going to keep me interested on the ps3.Its a good game - enhancements and the way it saves are better improved. Also evasion of the police and the public fighting back is better - but to my untrained eye IV seems just an extension of other flavours before not anything new ...Mo

superb game which i got well addicted too will be buying it in near future. not as in depth as some of the older gta's but had a great story and massive action set pieces.
JRM247 from Alexandria , 02/07/2008
The total depth of this game is mind blowing and each sotry is intertwined with other parts of the story. This puts faith back in the PS3 and look forward to Rockstars next big release. Probably one of the best PS3 games to date.

Remember the tale of the emperors new clothes? Where the little boy doesn't know that everyone 'thinks' the outfit is wonderful.Well, that's me with GTA4. It's slow. It's overly complicated. The action is no where near COD4 or MOH:Airbourne. The driving is not as good as driving games on a ZX Spectrum, let alone a modern driving game on Xbox or PS3.And the girl sucking the lolly in the advert has 6 fingers (go on, check!). Leave this for the punters who believe the ad-men.
