I had read all the hype and had spoken to friends who could not wait for it to come. I was very pleased that received it soon after it was released.I sat with my partner all ready to have the time of our lives. After the first game we looked at each other and decided it was going straight back.Maybe its that I just don't get the Mario thing????However being able to race with people from around the world is very good and easy to do. I wish you could do this when playing tennis. For those who love Mario, you will find this game a dream.
PrehistoricDevilCreature from Harrogate [Highly rated reviewer] , 19/04/2008
Mario kart wii is an incredible game. Anyone new to the series can easily pick it up fast and veterans will still be able to play just as well thanks to the different controll methods. You can use the wheel, the wiimote, the wiimote and nunchuck, the classic controller or the gamecube controller. By including so many ways of playing anyone can play! The single player mode is brilliant fun, the races are fast and action packed. However the battles let this game down by being no fun in single player. Furthermore doing time trials isnt that fun and to unlock some content you will need to do this. But none of this matters because the multiplayer is what this game is all about. You can play with a friend sitting next to you in up to 4 player races which are great fun, but where this game really takes off is it's online connection. It does not lag and you can quickly find people to play with around the world. Its quick, simple and most importantly fun. However the lack of voice chat on Wii means that you can only chat with friends in a room whilst waiting to race. And to increase annoyance you can only use predetermind phrases. But you will forgive all this when your playing as it's so addictively fun. This game is easily one of the best games on wii and i highly recommend renting it.
shitbreak from Manchester [Highly rated reviewer] , 27/04/2008
I waited for this game for ages ( even longer as HMV sent it to me a day late) and then when it arrived I fought off my kids to have first go, and the first thing I noticed is that the Wii wheel is very well made, but during my first go I was either under or over steering, and even after half an hour I wasn't much better, even though I am very good at the other Mario Kart games. So I changed to Wii remote and Nunchuck and straight away I felt more comfortable and was winning games, so I ventured online and raced 12 people from around Europe and did OK, afterwards I went onto the Mario Kart channel and the amount to do is amazing ( I love the way you can race other peoples ghosts to egg you on). This game is amazing, the new levels vary from inspired to, some that feel somewhat familiar, but with all the options and online play this IS a Must have game for the Wii, Well until Super smash bros comes out at least!!
MissHYip from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 27/05/2008
I was absolutely addicted to Mario Kart on the N64 and could not be defeated, and because I loved it so much i was sure that Mario Kart Wii could not possibly be better. Oh how very wrong I was! They've pulled out all the stops for this game, I've never seen such inventive tracks (like racing up the branches of a huge tree) and not only that but they've included revamped tracks from the old games (Snes, N64 and NGB) in case you're feeling nostalgic. There are more battle levels, characters and cups than ever before, it's so hard to get bored of this and believe me, it'll be hard to turn it off even when you realise it's 4am and you have to work the next morning!

This game is a must buy/rent game, simply amazing. The game play is brilliant, but extremely simple to use. I have never played a Mario kart game before but this was so easy to pick up i did it in 5 mins its that simple.

A retro member I used to love Mario Kart for the SNES back in the day and thought it was unbeatable but Mariokart for the Wii opens up a new world of fun. I have rented for nearly 3 months and did not want to give it back it was that good.Plus I have 2 young children who were also addicted to it. I would say it is up there as 1 of the best wii titles available.
Taxi from Watford , 08/07/2008
Great game - Went out and brought it!! I do remember the Rainbow road track being much easier on the SNES but you can't have everything.
A customer from Caerphilly , 16/10/2009
Three days of my life lost on this addictive game, we entered races with people around the world and there were a few dirty tactics but amazing fun
alecowen from Thetford , 07/10/2009

As the title says, It's a good game! I was a fan of the Mario Kart games for the SNES and the N64. I never played Double Dash on the Gamecube but it is on my rental list :), however this game is not one of my favourites. The wheel is a good new toy to play with, yes a toy, not a controller. The reason I say this is because it's fun for a while, but it can get boring very easily, plus you have to do the same tracks and cup races several times on different difficulties to progress in the game which is very repetative.I personally play using the Nunchuck as I am a controller gamer and not a huge fan of the Wii, but I had my fun moments on this game. The best feature is the online mode, you can have 2 players on the same Wii play up to 10 (I Think) other players either worldwide, or in your continent. The online mode also has contests to join and other competitions to play against your friends or the world! It's good for Mario fans, and as a short racing game, but it's not for the hardcore gamer. Try Forza on the 360. Or wait and see what My Sims Racing is all about!
silkyslugs from Immingham , 09/07/2009
Very repetetive and boring after a very short time - according to 9 year old son and dad
A customer from Northallerton , 09/07/2009
This game is brilliant, and well worth buying (we bought it, we liked it that much). We have Mario Kart for the DS already, but the Wii version has so much more to offer, and everyone wants a go on it (similar to Wii Sports). It is much easier to play with the wheel attached top the controller - which is one of the reasons we bought the game.
A customer from Hitchin , 18/06/2009
Excellent game for kids. Well worth trying. Did end up buying this game.
A customer from Shropshire,England , 11/06/2009
I Loved this game is great can play on your own or against friends in all sorts of different races.I Think this is one of the best games on the Wii and i am def going to buy yjis game.Brillant
Amypoohs from Emsworth [Highly rated reviewer] , 01/06/2009
If loved the previous mario kart games you will love this, wide variety of tracks (not a fan of rainbow road lol.) A fair amount of time and patience is needed to unlock everything but it's great once you have. My only gripe is that you can sometimes go from 1st to last with one shot from a blue homing shell!! Overall a great game for the family to play
BigShep from Warrington , 14/05/2009
I've been a fan of the Mario karts since the N64, and plenty of fun to be had with family & friends. I didn't really try online racing though. Great game and fun to play for all ages.
ILoveFilmCritic from London , 14/05/2009
This is just simply a brilliant game. handling/steering takes a while to get used to though
Roar2 from Keighley , 06/05/2009
What do you want to know that you don't know already? Terrific immersive play with wonderfully responsive controls (I'd say the wheel was worth buying), detailed imaginative tracks and surrounding graphics, a clever gradation of, and a satisfying variety of, challenges. Start with an initial eye-popping sixteen tracks and earn your way to the full 32+. They're all interactive in various ways - goombas wandering about, various things (crates, trucks, snow, chain-chomps, nasty snapping plants, etc etc) getting in your way, not to mention nasty drops into oblivion (from which you are soon rescued and dropped back on the track, but with a time penalty, of course). If you're a bit of a loner, race against time or just your own ghost from a previous try. Otherwise get into the excitement of a 12-vehicle race (one to four of whom can be you and your mates), picking up objects that can boost your speed (eg: triple boost shells, or even Rocket-Bill if you're lucky) , or that can hammer the other racers(anything from banana-skins to bombs). Customise your race by choosing from an array of well-known Nintendo characters (and eventually, when you've earned the right, your own Mii), and from a selection of bikes and karts. For many the really cool thing will probably be playing on-line against other enthusiasts around the world (up to 12 other real players), although I can't report on this. This is probably the absolutely best thing currently available for Wii. It is justification on it's own for buying a Wii. If you're into racing games buy this without a second thought. If you're not sure, try a rent. It just might be a bit too frantic for you (but there's plenty of fun in those lonely, bomb-free time trials against yourself). My rating leaves off the last half-star not due to any shortcoming, but just leaving room in case something even better turns up. Nothing has so far, though......Roy B

great easy to use controlls and great fun you can unlock cool charechters and carts play with 3 friends if you want!
p0rnsta from Colchester [Highly rated reviewer] , 01/04/2009
totally awesome. Great fun, wish i could unlock the new levels so that it didnt get a bit 'usual' after playing the same track for the 100th time.Great game. bundles of fun.
superscientist from Fairford , 29/03/2009
Mario kart is packed with all the goodness from the nintendo world. From Bowser to daisy and Toad to Yoshi, you will still have a great choice of vehicle(bike or car). With many unlockables, races, vehicles or drivers, it is sure to be on your rental list.I would give it a 5 star rank!
beccaandjay from Manchester [Highly rated reviewer] , 26/03/2009
Mario Karts for the Wii i loved, the DS version was rubbish!!Me and my partner and brother enjoy playing this game together and always have a huge laugh when doing so. I personally love all bright coloured games like mario games and i hate violent games because im such a wuss lol. and Mario karts wii was just what the doctor ordered to make the winter nights that bit more enjoyable.of course my dog looks at me like im a raving loon when im using the wii wheel hehe. Two bad points though, 1: i think there should be more levels, and possibly the ability to make your own level (im going along the littlebigplanet line here.) 2: when playing online it takes about a year and a day for it to load and to get me playing with others. This is a definite must buy and play, i really enjoyed playing this game and im sure you will too if you like cute games and/or racing games.
Glyn from Chesham [Highly rated reviewer] , 20/02/2009
This is a game u have to buy, not rent, u will get additive
Sunnyhoop from Swindon , 15/02/2009
We didn't buy a Wii for this kind of game, but my 4 year old was keen and he gave up on it after the normal 15 minutes. Some of the races were just impossible, but most were terrific fun.
A customer from Kent , 01/02/2009
As a fan of Mario I was so excited about the release of the game. I rented and from the first game I played I was literally obssesed. Playing against your mates is good but not as fun as playing online. With many tracks and characters it is a great idea and I had fun so I reccommend this game to all.
A customer from King's Lynn , 30/01/2009
eccelent game . have had loads of fun with this one , even had to go out and buy it
A customer from Nottingham , 25/01/2009
This is a great game for everyone. multiplayer is great too. The only downside is when your about to win and then something gets thrown at you and you end up 5th.
A customer from Salisbury , 20/01/2009
Keeping it simple.... This is amazing, light harted fun. My wife and I spend many hours playing split screen online against other people from all over the world. The steering controls are spot on and the power ups make even the weeker players stand a chance. Rent or buy this game, its one of the best!
A customer from Norwich , 18/01/2009
I am new 2 wii and I must say that this is the best driving /racing game I have ever played(and I have had a few), it is so easy to get used to and when you go online the game just gets better, top notch game, 5 stars.
A customer from Edinburgh , 13/01/2009
Brilliant game. Plays better than the DS version my boys love so much. A definate purchase
A customer from Reading, England , 10/01/2009
Rented this just before xmas and didn't want 2 send it back, so my daughter ended up with an extra unplanned pressie! We play it together as a family ( although you can play one player) and haven't laughed or had so much fun in ages!!! Watch out for Rainbow Road it's tricky!! Enjoy xxx
A customer from Glasgow , 03/01/2009
Great for the family - a favourite multiplayer. You only need a remote to play Mario Kart, some of the others - like donkey kong jet race require both remote & nunchuck.Wide range of circuits - some much easier than others (wario's Gold Mine is hard).
A customer from Hitchin , 28/12/2008
this game is brilliant for the whole family to play its great fun.please do try it.
A customer from Slough , 19/12/2008
the kids have not stopped playing this game. good value for money
A customer from Hemel Hempstead , 12/12/2008
This game is pure awesomeness! It really is a lot of fun and keeps me amused for hours. It's great fun for people of all ages and well worth the money.I get bored easily with games that have loads of suff to read and instructions but this game cuts straight to the chase and is so very easy to play!Definately the best game i've played to date.
A customer from Kilbirnie , 09/12/2008
Great Game, takes some getting used to but even my fiancee's five year old sis worked it out, hours of fun, unlock new levels all the way through as well as new characters, cars and bikes, great game, don't rent it just buy it.
A customer from dereham , 20/11/2008
Superb game, real good fun for everyone, just went and bought this one its that good!
A customer from London , 11/11/2008
probably not more to say on this. provides a giggle for a while without much skill being needed. same as most wii games. i know that sounds drab but really it's fun. just can't get too excited about it. renting such a game is definitely the way forward!
A customer from Leicester , 23/10/2008

Great fun for all the family - we loved it so much we went out and bought it - My husband is addicted! Very easy to play. Fabulous fun x
daftyduck from Renfrew , 21/09/2008
It's not a bad game, just that there is nothing new here.Gameplay can at times be frustrating and it just aint as much fun as on the Gamecube.I could go on but if you have played ANY of the mariokart games then this is exactly the same. Stick with Double Dash.
A customer from Inverness, Scotland , 16/09/2008
Enjoyed playing this game that much I went out and bought it.
A customer from Middlesbrough , 16/09/2008
i highly enjoyed this game as it has the retro tracks and all the old gang returning but not too sure about the wii wheel it just doesnt seem right and after a good number of hours of playing i still prefer double dash on the gamecube. but still highky enjoyable and well worth a look.
A customer from Wigan , 11/09/2008
Great game, loads from tracks, new and even old from past games. You can also have your Mii Charather as a racer too. Only thing that is a let down is that you cant have voice chat online and not even text chat, you can only pick from preset saying's if you wanna talk. That's only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of full 5.
TraceyJane from Oldham , 29/08/2008
Great game. The only reason I didn't give 5 is because it's not a great game to play on your own. But brilliant game to play with friends!
oakleycooke from Liverpool [Highly rated reviewer] , 21/08/2008
Fab game - fun for all ages
cherrub from Devon , 07/08/2008
I used to love Mariokart when i was younger and couldnt wait to try this on the Wii - it was ace! Loved using the wheel, espesh after youve got used to it. Tons of different race tracks and new characters... this game is so much fun to play!
pomvp from Selby , 05/08/2008
EXCELLENT GAME AND THE BEST Wii GAME FOR CONTROL RESPONSE
RCL from Berkshire, England , 15/07/2008
This game is the best I have ever played. Additive from day one. It will have the whole family hooked in no time. We did!
A customer from Birmingham , 28/06/2008
i think this game was superb. for wii owners its a must have game with many tracks and you can play against others live across the globe.
A customer from Glasgow , 27/06/2008
the game proved a little difficult for my kids to get to grips with the controls but as soon as we switched to the nunchucks to control the karts, things became much more fun!a bit repetitive, but fun for 4 at a time.
DanK from Hinckley , 17/06/2008
Mario Kart WII is all about living your childhood over and over again. For the gamer new to Mario Kart WII it's all about the stupidly fun times you're bound to have.I was a boy when Mario Kart was available on the SNES and it has been a long time coming for a title to be honoured in such a capacity. The online capabilities are awesome. No lagging. You can even trust your children to be online without you because unlike the Xbox 360 and PS3 you can't talk to other online users so there is no threat of your children being abused when they whoop other racers!!!Highly recommended, great fun for all the family. Even the missus liked it!
A customer from Tamworth , 27/05/2008
Absolutely loved this one. Popular with all ages of the family and very addictive!! Loads of fun to be had on the many different race tracks, different types of karts and bikes to ride and lots of characters to choose from to drive for you. You can play alone, against each other and even online. The fun is endless and this one quite deserves all the hype its received. Very easy to learn to play, can be used with the steering wheel or just the wii remote. Loved it so much that after renting it for a week just had to go and buy my own copy. I cannot believe that anyone would not enjoy this game. 10 out of 10
Handsome from Taunton , 10/09/2008
Exactly the same as on the SNES only you can play online but there's no one online so you have to play 'Ghost Racing' where you race a track the someone next week (when someone else eventually goes online with Mario Kart) races your ghost.I found this game disapointing.
