Turgid, stale and boring. You obviously need the manual for some of the events, yet even those that are simple enough are reduced to mind numbing 'randomnus'.The begining of each race allows for little skill or judgement and often that is exactly where the race is decided. AVOID

Good multi-player game. Decent graphics. You will develop blisters with the button bashing though! Worth a rent but wouldn't buy.

Rated - 4 starsblisters, bruises and tears

Dale Cotton from England, Chester , 07/08/2008

It must be said that I have never laughed so hard playing a game in my life. The 2008 Beijing Olmpics game is the number no' one if you have friends over. With track and field events and the legendary 100m sprint the palms of your hands will be blistered and you arms will be dead after a half an hour session. Awesome fun and would recommend!!! The main game is a bit tricky but easy to get a hang of. Even without a manual Beijing is easy to get a hang of as there is a tutorial option before the beginning of every event chosen.

Rated - 4 starsA good laugh

Djklaxon from Manchester [Highly rated reviewer] , 28/07/2008

This game isn't as fun on your own but if you have friends over or you can play them over xbox live then its a barrell of laughs.

A good range of events, involves steady hands, fast fingers and good timing. Somtimes all 3 in one event!

If you are like me and really slow at tapping buttons then down't worry, there is an alternative, you can wiggle the right stick left to right, which I find much easier.

So much fun to be had with this. Good game, I would only reccomend if your into the Olympics or have friends who also have the game.

A customer from Batley , 27/06/2008

i just hope that this game is like track n field. Not a game for hardcore gamers. But if you just want a laugh bags of fun, i just hope you read my review before the guy above me review.

Rated - 2 starsPrepare to destroy your fingers!

shaun101 from St. Neots , 13/07/2008

this game is only for the skilled. the track events like the 100m really do require a lot of smashing the buttons on your controller. the swimming events are the same when you still have to smash A and B to the back of your controller. but some of the field events are really enjoyable like the high jump and the javelin, where you dont have to go through the pain in your fingers. the online play is quite fun but the competition is far too good to beat. (for me anyway) but overall the game is not worth the buy but only the rent, unless you like blisters on your fingers.

Rated - 2 starsDisappointing...

A customer from watford , 10/07/2008

Not like the good old track 'n' field games, a lil' more skill is required rather than the good old button bashing fun. Definate one to rent, before you make a decision on buying.

jenkorama from Reading , 30/09/2009

This game is appalling, couldn't even be bothered to get a single achievement on it.

Although slightly reminiscent of Daley Thompson's Decathlon (of which I am a fan), this game takes that basic idea for controls and repeats for every event in the Olympics, which becomes very tedious.

You are more like to break you controller before you start enjoying this game.

this game is quite fun in a group but i wouldn't suggest this game for a single player, however prepare for some blister! all in all it was a alright game.

this is truly an awful game, games designers please note, if you make a game like this, keep the controls simple and don't make it so hard that people struggle with the events, i would rate 'track and field' better than this, and look how old that is!!

Rated - 2 starsBeijing 2008

Oathsworn from Nuneaton , 31/05/2009

Would be easier to play with manual, as sometimes the how to, does not quite give you all the information. I definitely would not buy this, rent and play with friends, as getting world and olympic records are either impossible (at least for me!) or so easy you wouldn't believe. It is annoying that they change the control methods even for those events that are similar.

Rated - 3 starsBETTER PLAYED WITH FRIENDS!!

timc1990 timc1990 from Manchester , 07/04/2009

THIS GAME IS A GOOD GAME, THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAMES YOU CAN PLAY SO ITS NOT SOOO!! REPETATIVE. HOWEVER I MUST SAY THIS GAME IS QUITE BORING WHEN BEING PLAYED ALONE, I WOULD RECCOMEND HAVING SOME FRIENDS ROUND AND ITS NON STOP LAUGHTER EXPECIALLY WHEN PLAYING THE 1500M RUN, ITS HILARIOUS WATCHIN YOUR MATES SWEAT AS THEY TRY AND RUN. THE GAME SHOULD HAVE A WARNING MESSAGE AS IT COULD DAMAGE YOUR CONTROLLER! LUCKILY THE MICROSOFT PADS ARE VERY STRONG BUT THE INTENSE BUTTON MASHING AND THUMB STICK MOVING! MAY MAKE YOU HOLD BACK ABIT! I CAN GUARENTEE YOU WILL HAVE BLISTERS ON YOUR HANDS BY THE END OF THE GAME!!! 1 I WOULD SAY WAS WORTH THE RENT! ONLY IF YOU HAVE SOME FRIENDS WILLING TO PLAY THOUGH!!

ZACH from Margate, England , 18/02/2009

I was surprised how crap this was and i expected it to be good but was very wrong, swimming controls are same as summer athletics which make your arms ach after just 2 lenghs of pool and no fun at all.

Rated - 1 starNOT GOOD!

A customer from England , 15/02/2009

Its just a mad button pressing fest, very and I mean VERY repetative and boring. Reminds me of the old track & field days. Only difference is the graphics are better. Thankfully I rented it and didn't buy it!

A customer from Dundee , 27/01/2009

no enjoyment at all game was dull

Rated - 3 starsNot Easy

A customer from Mansfield , 27/01/2009

I love sports/athletic games but this one isn't so good. If you like hammering the analogue sticks and button bashing then this is a game for you. It will rapidly decrease the lifespan of your controller though. The graphics are great, especially in HD but it's definately not an easy game. If your looking for easy achievements then i would not recommend this game.

Rated - 3 starsNot The Most Easiest Game In The World

A customer from Wilmslow , 22/01/2009

Controls and instructions for this game are very hard at explained in the most ridiculous way.

All in all a good game for a while, until it gets annoying

Rated - 3 starsJust what I was expecting

A customer from Manchester , 21/01/2009

Don't get me wrong, this is a good game IMO, but on some events it's virtually impossible to even come close to the world records - Diving, Gymnastics etc but on others you can smash them with one hand tied behind your back - Javelin, 100M, 50M freestyle etc. It's worth the rent if you're into Athletics and the Olympics, it covers 95% of the events and it covers them well.

Rated - 1 starReally disapointing

Rated - 2 starsWow! what can I say, Joke perhaps

A customer from Antrim , 30/12/2008

Nothin like I thought it was gonna be, Im a big fan of all the track n field games, still have them all lol, but the new additions were stilly and so complicated they made the game, well not fun at all, for example that new start feature in the track events is amost impossible, you have to get it time down to the nearest half second, they always get great starts, and its really hard to catch up even 2 second place.

the controls are very very un-user friendly since u have to use top buttons to power up and shoulder buttons for actions, yea i know that was the case for track n field to but those were more graceful, wasn't about hiting the buttons fast but hiting them in a rythem, this game its all bout speed and its difficult to get any kinda speed going due to the shape of the pads.

you have to switch buttons too much and have to much to consotrate on, on screen, makes the game too much like hard work, and wow the table tennis, what on earth is with that, you can bearly see the ball, and forget bout hittin it unless its ur serve lol, i am able to do some events no bother, but in olyimpic games mode it starts with the events i have trouble with so i fail the day lol

Rated - 1 starnot what it could've been

A customer from gravesend , 23/12/2008

the game had so much potential but on some events the controls are so stupidly awkward and the ones that are straight forward seem designed so that you break your controllers and have to buy new ones!

i couldnt even be bothered to play all the events as i feared of snapping the joystick piece from my controller

A customer from Berkshire , 06/12/2008

About as dull as watching the real thing, nice graphics though, but man it makes you sleepy.

Rated - 3 starsWorth renting

A customer from Bristol , 29/11/2008

Good game because it includes all the different Olympic sports but after a while it gets a bit monotonous because activities such as the gymnastic's have the same routine every time just making it boring.

But its worth renting because its good fun!

Rated - 1 startoo hard

A customer from spalding , 21/11/2008

just no fun at all nothing comes close to track and field on xbla

Rated - 1 starWorst game ever

A customer from Derby , 03/11/2008

Being a girl gamer I rented this game thinking it would be more to my taste than shooting and killing etc... but I was so wrong!

This is by far the worst game I have ever played on, the controls are hard, and in the track events you find yourself with a sore thumb by the end of the race.

The one good thing about the game is the graphics, and the chioce of events, there was everything from pole vault - judo.

It's just a shame the game is so complicated, it had so much potential to be a good game.

Rated - 1 starWhat A nightmare Game!

A customer from surrey , 29/10/2008

This game was not a game for me. I thought most of the events were far to complicated to work out and often almost ended up needing a replacement controller!!

However there were some events that seemed easy enough to get to grips with like the running. But that was no good as you need to master most of the events to be able to qualify. Im so glad I rented, because I would NOT waste my money on something as poor as this!

Rated - 1 starWhats the point?

A customer from Portsmouth , 26/10/2008

There is no point on playing this game, the graphics are ok, but the whole game play is crap. The controls are stupid, and playing this online is just pointless. There are hardly anyone online on this game.

Don't Rent!

Rated - 1 stardidnt like game

A customer from Melksham , 05/10/2008

It really wasnt that good!! glad i hired it as we were going to buy the game. NOT THE GAME FOR ME

Rated - 2 starsCosts A bit !!!!

A customer from Swindon , 26/09/2008

All in all an ok game if you like sports games like this, however be warned this game eats you controllers, Button bashing doesn't work well on this, you'll find yourself rotating or shaking the sticks like some kind of mad man. Once you done this head to the first Aid kit to patch up your blisters, then straight to you local shop to replace the controller. on the plus side there are plenty of events to keep you busy.

This game will last you a weekend if you play for about 3- 5 hrs a day. Worth renting maybe, but i wouldn't recommend buying.

Hope this helps........
