Rated - 2 starsTerrible

A customer from London , 12/03/2008

I was hoping to write a review saying how it wasn't as bad as people made out but i'm currently playing and to be honest it seems worse.

bad controls with a very shoddy tutorial on anything less than the hardest difficulty the ai shoots randomly (i stood next to an enemy face blank, he missed 4 times... with a shotgun) and there's no option to restart a mission unless you either fail or die, the game is so badly made it actually doesn't fail you until you've gone through checkpoints. meaning you can play for about 5 minutes before it realises you've killed the people you're meant to be spotting for someone else. (the reason why i let an enemy kill me, obviously I realised i'd failed but the game hadn't)

I gave it 2 stars purely because the rating 'dissapointing' is what it was. shame, I loved the n64 version.

Sending it back the first day it's rented. Avoid at all costs.

Rated - 4 starsOnline treasure

Sean Carriere from Scotland , 02/02/2007

This game has to be one of the most memorable games i have played on the 360. The actual game has addictive qualities that just get you playing it time and time again, the gameplay is fantastic. What tops this game is its online capabilities: firstly it has a co-op mode that is second to none and the multiplayer online is the best i have experienced on a consule yet and as fars as computer figures go, Joanna Dark has to rate as the hottest chick out there. This is a must for any 360 owner and is one i will forever keep in my collection.

Rated - 4 starsNowhere Near As Bad As the Reviews Say

Simon Mullin from Liverpool , 10/04/2006

I actually own this game and thought I'd put my opinion across. I have to say that the inital one player gameplay could be improved but if you are a fan of Xbox Live, as I am, then this game is superb. Along with around 6/7 of my friends its online game play (especially infection) is amazing. Yes the graphics could be a little better, but overall when played with friends, blowing each other up, exchanging verbals and so on, you really do stuggle to find a better first person shoot-em-up.

Rated - 4 starsListen to the reviews

Alistair9 from Cambridge [Highly rated reviewer] , 22/04/2008

I got exactly what i expected from the reviews here. I got to the second level of single player and switched off; I then played multiplayer and didn't leave the house for 2 days

Rated - 4 starsOnline = fantastic.

A customer from Wigtown, Scotland , 14/07/2007

OK, the singleplayer. It's not fantastic, but I like it. Please play it on at least secret agent difficulty before judging it, as Agent misses out on most of the great gadgetry and stuff that makes it really fun.

The multiplayer is fantastic. Infection is my favourite though Team Killcount comes in at a close second. Put simply, it's got everything Shadowrun has(except lame magic and useless tech), with a maximum player count of 32, OK bots and huge amounts of FUN.

The graphics are OK except that everything looks a bit wet. They really did go overboard with their shiny special effects.

The storyline is cheesy, the voices are cheesy, but the sound effects are pretty good. Usually.

It was good. It's still good. It will probably still be good even when the Xbox 720 arrives. OK, so the N64 one was a bit better, but who cares? This is still in my top five 360 games, no doubt about it.

Rated - 4 starsPerfectly dark

Hen Hen from Carlisle [Highly rated reviewer] , 18/06/2007

I quite enjoyed Perfect Dark Zero. It is very stylish and characters are quite good but the major let down is the controls - it takes some getting use to moving the character with the left stick, moving the view with the other stick, pressing A to open a door and being prepared to shot with the back button, can get confusing. But overall it's a good game!

dan0000017 from Worthing , 25/03/2009

This is near enough the worst 360 game out. Don't buy it, don't rent it. If you already have it, trade it in. I was expecting it to be like the original on the n64. I was VERY wrong. This may be a bit bias but i really hate this game

Rated - 0 starsoh dear me!!

A customer from Sheffield , 05/01/2009

This game is shockingly bad - poor gameplay, poor storyline, difficult controls, below average GFX & SFX

This is no way near worthy to be an Xbox 360 title.

Avoid disappointment, avoid this game!!

Rated - 3 starsa bit odd

Sovereign from Bury St. Edmunds , 19/09/2008

the only thing that bugged me about this game, other than even the smallest light buggering up your screen, was this:

in Perfect Dark on the N64,Joanna was English.

on this game set before the n64 game, she is a bratty american teen.

i know she lacked experiance and all that, but that wouldnt explain how her nationality and accent changed.and that just kinda annoyed me.it was....dissapointing to see that this secret agent who was cool and english becamse some little brat that you would argue with on live.probably.

Rated - 1 starNothing Like The Original

KingBoB from Wakefield , 17/08/2008

Massive disapointment, this game is nothing like the original and is quite obviously rushed, i go with a review of a major website which said ' don't belive the hype'

Rated - 3 starsNeed Xbox LIVE to fully enjoy

superjim superjim from Durham, UK [Highly rated reviewer] , 07/08/2008

Only rent this if you have Xbox Live. Most of the achievements and game options are made for this.

Rated - 4 starsSingle player a no-no, XboxLive yes yes

Maxwell728 from Dunfermline , 08/04/2008

The single player was disappointing, it all felt a little old and felt it had all been done before. The story line was nothing gripping. The original on the Nintento64 was brilliant!..Xbox version feels a little to kiddish. The online game-play is a different story, can spend hours at a time playing my friends. Using hovercrafts or guided missiles or even flying bots to kill your friends. Is a real true online/Multiplayer game!

Rated - 1 starRubbish

A customer from Waterlooville , 15/03/2008

Game is just to slow especially online

Rated - 1 starNot very good

Guy from Devon , 29/11/2007

I am normally a RARE fan - even back to the old Ultimate Play the Game days - but I really didn't enjoy this game.....

I honestly didn't play the game too long but the short time I did play the game I experienced lots of slow down in the frames per second....which is a real no no for console games.

Rated - 1 starA really bad game

A customer from Nottingham , 11/10/2007

I didn't enjoy this game at all, even the online multiplayer isn't that enjoyable. I suppose after playing games like Gears of War and Halo 3 then this game is not a patch on them. The graphics aren't good either so i will give this 1/10

Rated - 3 stars50/50

Archie from Camden, London, England , 14/06/2007

Rent it before you buy it. The game is missing lots of bits that would have made it perfect. Graphics is poor, also when the character is behind the wall you cannot shift it to the other side of the wall without detaching the character first.

In the age of XBOX 360 and PS3 the programmers and designers of this game could have done better.

I hope the next perfect dark is better than this one

Rated - 3 starsPerfect for renting

A customer from Margate , 17/05/2007

This game is perfect for renting, it is relatively easy and won't take too long to complete.

Overall, the game offers nothing new to this genre. It is just you standard FPS, of which there are hundreds available.

It offers a couple of days reasonable gaming, nothing special but not as bad as some reviews state.

Overall it is decidedly average.

Whatever you do, do not buy this game you will be bitterly disapointed, however it is the perfect game to rent as it is not too challenging and is relatively enjoyable.

Rated - 4 starsOnline maps keeping this fresh

Katie Strong from playing PDZ , 27/02/2007

Who remembers Goldeneye on the N64?

Well, they have recently released the two of the classic maps which keeps this title going strong.

A good balance of achievements for this title, and the single player is good fun. The real gem is the online multiplayer games which are still going strong.

Rated - 3 starsMixed Feelings

Lorissimo from London, England , 01/02/2007

I actually own this game but wanted to write a review for all those wanting to rent it. I've always had mixed feelings about this game. Part of me is a big fan of the James Bond like storyline and found the graphics on the single player game quite good. I also liked the fact that they have incorporated Co-Op mode in the story mode, which allows you to play the story mode with a friend. Good sound, good guns, good story. But then when I played it online, I found the graphics somewhat inferior, and you never get the feeling that online, its as good as it could've been. Everyone keeps raving about playing it online, yet to me, the graphics are poor, the maps are poor, and you don't get that sense of suspense when someone is in your sight or you have just been snipered. STill, probably worth renting just so you can have your own mixed feelings about it.

This has the proud title of being the worst title I've played so far on my 360.

I gave it 30 minutes before putting back in it's envelope.

A customer from Wrexham , 21/10/2006

I owned the original on the N64 and i had high expectations for this game but what a HUGE letdown. The single player game is sluggish and very unresponsive. The xbox live game fares mo better. Avoid at all costs.

Rated - 3 starsDecent rent.

David Wright from London, England. , 07/05/2006

This game was quite a let down for me being a fan of the prequel, however the game is ok, I wouldnt buy it but it's ok for a weekend rent.

Rated - 2 starsDisappointing!!

A customer from London , 07/04/2006

What a real shocker! I was expecting a stunning game, instead I was sick of the storyline and bored of the gameplay. The original game was special this sequel on the 360 is just plain dull. The best part is the multiplayer on xbox live but doesnt match the entertainment of Call of Duty.

good graphics and sound, boring story.

Rated - 3 starsThe reason I bought a 360.....

AlphaDragon55 from Shropshire, England , 19/03/2006

I was a huge fan of Perfect Dark on the N64 and when I heard they were making this prequel for the Xbox 360 I had to have it.

Graphically the game doesn't make use of the 360's capabilities; it makes me think the game could easily have appeared on the PS2 or original Xbox.

Single player mode is short (around 13 missions) and fairly easy.

Multiplayer is addictive especially when played over Xbox LIVE, but lacks the multitude of options and modes the original Perfect Dark's multiplayer had.

Overall an okay game, that is best played on multiplayer, but it will be forgotten in 6 months time when better games come out to replace it.
