Rated - 4 starsAmped 3 - Snow Sharks - do what !

A customer from St Albans , 31/05/2006

I rather enjoy snowboarding games, I find them quite relaxing and 'chilled' out. Bad puns aside they are far less frantic than shooters or racing games.

Amped 3 however takes a new look at the genre and adds a huge dose of 'weird'. The gameplay is fine, tricks and boarding are good, easy to control and fun. There are quite literally hundreds of different challenges to complete from media callouts to rails to flips and even snowmobiling and sledge crashing challenges.

All great fun and all in addition to the main storyline which is where the weird comes in. Some people are going to hate the cutscenes and the monty ptyhonesqueness / southpark style cartoons but I loved it. It was surreal, funny and left me sitting there thinking 'what the hell???'.

I really liked this game in every way, it makes a really good change from driving and shooting.

I've not played much of the Amped games before so was not quite sure what to expect with this game.

I was nicely surprised :D

The gameplay, missions and sub missions all have a quirky 60's acid kinda vibe (my opinion) which makes playing the game good light hearted fun.

At the very least - you can just explore the mountain having a giggle.

Worth checking out.

Rated - 1 starAmped 3

Warcrap from Grangemouth , 13/04/2008

I absolutely loved Amped on the original Xbox.

Many an hour I spent playing the game, determined to complete it 100% despite it being difficulty towards the end it was great fun due to the innovative control system where 'tricks' are pulled off using the two analogue sticks.

Now to Amped 3!

I couldn't believe it - they replaced the controls to a simplified method similar to something from Tony hawks! Basically button bashing!

Gone is the system where you feel almost like your pulling off the move yourself.

Apart from that, the game isn’t too bad, graphics are good! Music is good, but by simplifying it too much the have ruined it for me.

If you never played the original then rent this, if you did then avoid!

Pretty wacky game with some cool moments.

Not too hard, and the actual snowboarding gameplay isn't quite as good as SSX Tricky - but its a good laugh all the same.

Definately worth a look.

I found this game hard to navigate the menus let alone play it. I thought it was complicated and hard to knw what you were actually doing. Doesnt compete with other snowboarding games and although it is easy gamerscore for me it wasnt worth it.

Rated - 3 starsGood For Those Who Like Snowboarding

To be honest I am not really into my snowboarding games but this certain title came across ok and I could only imagine for people who are really into there skiing/snowbaording would find this came really good.

I did play it and enjoyed it.

Anyone who really loves skiing/snowboarding this is a BIG must title for you.

This is a very enjoyable and good game despite being a very early title.

Rated - 3 stars(Not Very) Amped...

A customer from Glasgow, Scotland , 07/06/2008

Amped 3 is the third installment of the Amped Snowboarding Franchise. Developed by 2K Sports, Amped 3 boasts large maps, large soundtrack, large online features, large customs and various transportations.

The gameplay is standard and the game itself is everything you expect from a snowboarding game. Eventually, the title will become repeatitive and once you complete the single player mode theres not much more on offer... unless you're an Online Gaming Junkie !!

pretty good, the storyline was short and earning the 'respect points' can be really boring and frustrating at times. Tbh as soon as I completed this game and impressed some of the bystanders to get some more gamerscore, I sent the game straight back with no questioning. It is a fun game, and you'll most probably enjoy it for a few hours until you finish the storyline.. I was gonna go for the full 1000G but I just got to bored and sent it back after about 500-600.. Definitely worth a rent but do NOT buy unless you are a huge fan of tony hawk as this is the same type of game as that (smash some buttons and hope you get a big combo kind of thing), but remember there is no full multiplay so you can't even thrash your mates.

Rated - 2 starsvery boring

The last 2 amped games being designed for snowboarders, with realistic contols and a potential to keep physics fairly belivable. Amped 3 completly ruins this, it seems to take a cartoony and unrealistic approach. Massive let down in my opinion.

Rated - 1 starNot for me

Brian Jenkinson from Wickford, Essex, England , 19/12/2007

Glad I only hired this game. My control and mastering of this game lasted no more than 60 minutes. As an avid XBOX30 gamer, I think it is stop with the driving games.

I am sure that if you are into extreme sports or more particularly snowboarding you will love this game.

Me? No co-ordination and GamerScore requiring too much skill...not for me.

Turvey from Northampton , 19/12/2007

Looking at previous reviews I purely rented this on the basis to get easy achievement points - For me not so easy to get the points maybe I was doing somewrong or doing parts of the game that didnt need to be completed. Overall played about 2 days and got 120 gamerpoints - Wouldnt recommend a rent!

Rated - 1 starAmped.... the let down

A customer from Scotland , 10/09/2007

Having played the origional version of this game for many hours on the old xbox, i must say that I was ver y let down by this game.

The control system had been changed from the complex but more realistic controls to a button bashing system.

this ruined the whole game for me, too symplified now :(

For a game filled with promise, this was a let down!

Its OKAY - If you like Tony Hawks then this is okay a lot more easy.

Quite easy acheivements just takes time to get them as there are loads if things to do

Rated - 4 starsGood Fun, Excellent Gamescore Points

Lorissimo from London, England , 01/02/2007

I've never played any of the previous incarnations of Amped so this was a fairly pleasant surprise. The graphics are good but not great, the levels can be repetitive after a while, but still, it proved to be good fun. The addictive thing about it is that its fairly easy to play and to get gamescore points out of it, so you'll soon find yourself trying to finish it cause you know with a little bit of effort, you can! definitely worth renting, and if you are a fan of these type of games (skateboarding, bmx, snowboarding etc) then its probably worth the purchase.

Rated - 3 starsLight hearted madness

Katie Strong from The Sussex , 29/12/2006

Amped 3 is a crazy world of snowboard tricks and weird characters. The majority of the game involves snowboarding (obviously) but it's nice to have missions involving skidoo's and rubber rings to break the format.

The game itself is like some drink induced wonderland where everyone speaks as though they have over indulged in the special omlettes. All climaxing in a musical finale.

Good, light hearted fun, but once you've played it theres not much more to do. Definately a rental game.

Rated - 4 starsA Great Rent!

A customer from Stafford, England , 16/08/2006

This game is great! The cutscenes are completely strange, random and are definetely the best part of the game - but only if you enjoy the style of the monty python movies.

The gameplay is the worst part of the game. Its a little easy, shallow and forgiving in places - you can do 180 spins by just jumping off flat ground! Though to make up for that there are plenty of challenges and variation. The graphics are ok, though you could be forgiven for thinking that they were xbox graphics in some places, they don't make you gasp at the level of detail. Though the ability to see the entire mountain from the top is good - long draw distances.

One of the best parts of the game are the sound effects, the massive music collection and the general art style of the menus and cutscenes.

If you want a snowboarding game that breaks the mould and is a laugh all the way through - this game is a great rent (good for gamerscore as well ;D ).

If not, then take a look at Amped 2 on the xbox as it is more serious and a much harder challenge.

Rated - 3 starsStrange but Entertaining

ralph wharton from Stockport,England , 04/08/2006

If your looking for a realistic snowboaring game that is good looking and challenging then this game isnt for you. Even tho the game is good fun to play, the game is unrealisticly easy with no mager challenges and a very confusing story that leaves you thinking 'so im doing what now for who'. But if your looking for a nice simple relaxing snowboarding game then this is perfect, the controls are very simple and easy to pick up, the graphics are average but still run very smooth and the game has a great soundtrack that keeps you pumped up to show of some new tricks. The game also has great online support and gives you loads of stats, ranks and leaderboards for all you challenges but the challenges get very repetative and after a while you just end up board. Overall the game is just about decent and it all depends what type of experiance your looking for in this type of game.

Rated - 1 staroh my god!
