This game was newish as it is very similar to GTA however the graphics were nothing to write home about and the controls at first were a bit of a nightmare to get used to.Game is good for just running ariund using the paracheute etc but it gets boring but then again i am not a big fan of GTA games either.Just felt that the graphics could have been made so much better.
Paladin from Hayes , 05/10/2006
Absolutely agree with Anthony's review. This game is definitely must buy, if you don't believe just rent it and you'll see. Control is absolutely easy, even helicopters and planes. There are some bugs, yes but how many are in other games likes Oblivion. Story is good, action is excellent, graphics beautiful. Music is above average, dynamic but it's personal taste. Definitely like flying with helicopters and even do liberation missions in combat helicoper!!! I like to have a choice how to solve problems and this game give you plenty of choice.I hope they solve all minor bugs and problems in patch. 5 stars

I have just finished this game in 12 hrs and sent it back, so as the title says it is an excellent rental title. Personally I have owned all the GTA's and this game definately adds its own ideas. I think the GTA series is getting quite stale and it is a stroke of genius that the developers for Just Cause added a 'stunt' button enabling you to cause all manor of mayhem. The missions do get quite samey - collect this, blow up this, eliminate such and such - but when renting a title longetivity cant be your priority surely?? Plus it was a contender in the best visuals award category for Edge magazine's annual awards, so you know it has fantastic eye candy to show off that x360 to your mates!

When i first played Just Cause i thought why wouls someone make a game that bad but I gave the game a second try and I got a bit further into the game and fell in love with it when i realised how amazing the things are on e.g. the massive island to explore and the tons of wepons and veichles avalible.a xbox 360 classic!
ladym from Croydon , 20/11/2007
not a bad game, not really my cup of tea though,
A customer from England , 22/06/2007
I tried to get into this game but just couldn't force myself to play it for more than two hours. It really doesn't feel like an xbox 360 game. The graphics are poor and I can't get used to the controls. Driving is not enjoyable or realistic. I can't think of anything in the game that would justify renting it. If you are into GTA style games then rent Saints Row or Crackdown. This game really cannot compare to either.

Angerman from Dunblane , 15/03/2008
Just Cause is a south american versionn of GTA. It throws you into the world of corruption and you rebel against the evil government. The game begins well with diverse missions and fun extra activites, but after a while you start to realise that everything is just the same. After this the game becomes very boring and you will find yourself not playing for more than 6-10 hours.
Vengeance459 from UK , 13/03/2008
I found this game to be quite boring, with a confusing story line. I didnt really know what I was doing next. However it must be said that the graphics on this game are very good. Cinematic graphics are not great but overall map graphics are pretty awesome, especially on HD. Overall about 6/10 for this one
Seboeth from Nottingham , 01/03/2008
This game has the making of a true clasic. Basicly you are a south american James Bond .. not the new gritty james bond of rescent years but the good old fasioned 'bad guys cant hit the broad side of a oil tanker, one swing of your uzi drops a regiment of troops, everything blows up in the end' James Bond. Your near super hero like abilities are quite a rush as you liberate entire cities, downing choppers and single handedly taking out tanks. The scenery is staggering, just take a helicopter as high as you can at dusk to see what I mean, the play area stretches off to the horizen, then jump out of the chopper and sky dive down to the smallest little hut on the side of the gently lapping sea.Well, thats the good news ... the bad news ?The basic game play is hampered by some pretty major bugs, even the way the main characture jumps and climbs ladders is a head ache. The controls as a whole are just clunky, even using the grappling hook to catch a helicopter and paraglide up to it (which should be one of the coolest things ever) is very hit and miss and just doesn't feel right. The mission system is very poor aswell, with highly repetative missions and no way of knowing if the person you are traveling to will trigger a liberation (which are a great laugh) or an innane mission to steal a camera from a tourist ... again.I would definitely recomend renting this game but just stick to the main story line missions which are fun and will see you through the game with plenty of action, a few laughs and heaps of dead bad guys.Ive heard rumour that a sequal is on its way. fingers crossed they can keep the basics premiss of the game which is great but iron out the bugs!
A customer from Wolverhampton , 03/02/2008
Not as good as I expected. Main missions are reasonable, but incredibly boring and repetative side missions let the game down.
JediSi [Highly rated reviewer] , 31/01/2008
In Just Cause, you control the character Rico, a rebellious Latin-American whose task it is to run around some scenic islands, stirring up a load of trouble, with overthrowing the islands government and associated drug cartel. With mission based assignments and fitting side missions make the plot a fairly reasonable one. However, there is one type of side mission that makes a mockery of the game and certainly doesn't fit in at all. A question I would like answered is why is someone who is insistant on ousting corrupt political leadership, partaking in race driving.Another issue I have with just cause, is the fact that it boast a bigger map then GTA San Andreas. Do not get caught out. In GTASA it is packed with things to do and see and varies wilidly in its terrain. JC is a mass of tropical island that is extremely easy to get stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Until you unlock a few safehouses, getting around this massive same-old, same-old world will prove to be a thorn in any gamers side. The scenery is very nice but it doesn't take long to get bored with it, and also frustrated about how long it actually takes to get anywhere. I managed to complete it with all but 3 of the achievements, but it was a long hard slog, and to be honest couldn't bring myself to spend any more time with it.I've heard some people say that this better than GTASA. I'm left wondering what the weather is like on their planet. There simply is no comparison. The stunts and paragliding is quite cool, but it doesn't make up for a game that is trying too hard. I'm glad I rented it because I've done it. Definitely would not buy it.
A customer from England , 16/08/2007
This game was a very big let down after reading very good reviews of this game. First of all it takes large amounts of time to get from misison to mission and there wasnt a taxi you couldnt use to cross the island! Character movment was weird to say the least. Scenery looked nice but was used around the island multiple times. Missons were repitive and not much to keep occupied. AI in gmae was not advanced as it could have been. I found this a chore to play.
A customer from England , 14/06/2007
What a legendary game.Just Cause is nowhere near as good as GTA San Andreas, simply nowhere near, and it probably doesn't quite deserve 4 stars either because it has absolutely no depth, and it is about as challenging as the popular fairground attraction 'hook a duck', if i had the option i would have given it three and a half, or possibly 72%.However it is a good action packed romp based around a south/central American island, and it is great fun. I like the graphics, i like the toys, and i even love the ridiculous immortality and superiority that seems to have been gifted to all that is American within the game. In fact, Just Cause is like a spoof of itself. Rent it, Buy it, Whatever, just enjoy it.
n00blar from Lichfield , 05/10/2009
This game is rubbish. Its obviously designed to copy GTA but doesnt have the style/graphics/novelty at all. its ridiculously easy not a challenge in the slightest, i rented this for 2 days and sent it back with no desire to complete it as i was bored after 'liberating' 4 camps. no tactics, no gameplan just run in shoot and take the flag. BORING
IFreZzAx from Hemel Hempstead , 30/09/2009

another game I liked but didn't have the edge
A customer from Blackpool , 27/07/2009
What a crock of poo. I couldn't have been more disappointed with this game. Ridiculously gimmicky, police chases you can't possibly shake off, the auto-lock reticule is just annoying and takes any challenge away. Frustratingly annoying. No physics whatsoever; cars just come to a dead stop when they hit something light. WTF??? Why would ANYONE spend real actual money on this game????
MoaningHunter from Sutton , 29/06/2009
couldn't believe how bad thiis game was. shockingly bad. people walk around like they were puppets with their legs swinging out infront of them. i like free roam but this takes the michael so badly. avoid like the plague.
Nikwilk from Buckingham , 26/06/2009
I only played it for 5 mins... maybe it's cos it's an older game but the graphics seemed really bad, the controls were awkward, targeting and jumping looked rubbish, couldn't even get excited by the big car chase.... but maybe it grows on you
Shadow20074 from Cardiff , 08/05/2009
Just Cause is a free roaming guerilla warfare game, that focuses on claiming enemy bases for your own faction. The game is alike to GTA and Mercenaries 2. Graphics are decent, I found the motion blur effects to be great. The gameplay is good and the main story is hugely entertaining.Rent this game if you plan on completing the game's story, and maybe some odd side missions then returning it. I say this because to get every achievement will take you HOURS of repetitive gameplay. There are 10 race achievements, which are fun but can be really frustrating. The rest of them are for claiming settlements for the guerillas or your faction. This involves talking to someone, killing some people, blowing up something and either capturing a flag or killing a person. To get every achievement this has to be done around 100 times.I did about 8-12 of these, only to have them game freeze on me and lose everything I had done.I'm still slowly working through these, but if you like this sort of game, and enjoy a fun story and good gameplay, then by all means rent it...but if your looking for some 'easy' achievement points, I'd maybe think about buying it; you'll be playing for ages.
crgcmbl from Callander , 04/04/2009
this game was awful. The graphics weren't great and it has a pointless storyline.
UCHammer from Swindon , 26/02/2009
Just Cause?! Cause for concern more like. What the producers of this game have attempted to do, is to use the popular rpg, gta format in order to ensure a large turnover for this game. However they seem to have created an abomination. Despite the interesting easy aim and parachuting, Just Cause seems to flop on all other levels. The missions and plot is overly unrealistic. I accept that these types of rpg games are generally unrealistic, but Just Cause takes it too far, presenting an action packed world that has little resemblance to reality. The visuals furthers this point, showing very bright, psychedelic colours, which frankly get very tiring, very quickly. Graphically it isn't up to standard, and the missions are too repetitive to keep you entertained. With its unrealistic, action packed, standing on top of moving cars, parachuting whenever and where ever, Just Cause reminds me of the overrated Steven Seagal and Jean Claudde Van Damme movies. And, unfortunately, people will love Just Cause in much the same way (isn't escapism fun)! This means the producers have probably succeeded, explaining the occurance of a sequel (GREAT!!!) (Note the use of sarcasm!)I would highly recommend giving this one a miss. Try the gta or saints row series' instead, as they are infinitely better.
A customer from Attleborough , 25/02/2009
i like the idea of the gadgets but its just too big and i couldnt get into it, graphics are also pretty outdated now. you mite want to rent it just to try it out, i know alot of m8s who enjoyed it
samt247 from Blackpool , 31/01/2009
graphical quality is extremely poor gameplay has no fluidity everything is jumpy and not what is expected on such a high caliber gaming machine. the graphics are expected on a much older format and it is a total waste of time to play this game. spend your hard earned cash on something else which is worthy of your time
A customer from North Shields , 28/09/2008
an old game that i have just getting on rental. it plays like gta, mercs etc. i.e. an open world sandbox game.this could have been a great game if not for a serious bug that happened to me after about 2 hours or so gameplay.while doing a find an ambulance mission i came across a collectible in the game and decided to pick it up. on doing so the screen went tits up and the game proceeded to give me all the achievements (14 in all) for all the collectibles in the game.now if you want easy gamescore, then okay, but i like finding these things by playing the game and sadly this bug stopped me from doing it my self.so, a good game let down by a rather serious bug. i checked online and found that this bug has been with the game since it came out and the softco has not bothered to fix it. a poor show by them that does not give the best of confidance on how Just Cause 2 will turn out.
A customer from Durham , 12/09/2008
Excellent - works out cheaper than buying at the moment. Recommended.
A customer from Ipswich , 11/09/2008
I didnt rent this game hoping for a graphical masterpeice, made in 2006 what can you expect. The overall funness and unrealisticness of this game is its soul high. Though not too long the game doesent die when complete whilest you still have the collect mission or librating cities or even just playing around having some crazy fun with friends. If you are looking for a game with ultra graphics i would say look at newer games, simple. But this game is all so enjoyable, 4 stars :)
A customer from Carnforth , 28/06/2008
I rented this for my son and i fought it would not be a good game for him but he told me that it was one for the best games he had played and he's played alot of games
davej from Hull , 01/04/2008
Got very boring very quick.
A customer from Manchester , 16/03/2008
What better way to chill out after a day at work than parachuting round the map, and then spilling some blood liberating villages and towns :-)
ScOtTy992 from Minehead , 06/03/2008
Played this game for 2 hours and I cant stand it i dont really know why but I just dont. One of the main problems is the missions and boring and alot of the same thing oh and driving is horrible.
Triad from York [Highly rated reviewer] , 26/02/2008
The fundamentals for a fun game are certainly there, but some elements of the design will make this a difficult game to get into. First off, travelling between missions is a chore. This isn't really helped by the fact that mission markers on the on-screen map are difficult to see (even in HD) due to poor colour choices - black on dark green?!If you don't have the will to pursue the main missions then you might just have fun playing around with the parachute and vehicle play, but it probably won't last long.
A customer from Plymouth , 09/12/2007
This game is not bad, not as good as GTA. But then they are 2 different games so you cant really compare the two. Would rent it again as didnt really play it alot when i had it
A customer from manchester uk , 08/09/2007
great game worth renting as im going to buy it now after renting it
jamie chamberlain from beeston,nottingham , 20/07/2007
great game for the whole 4 hours before i sent it back as i used to own this game i only needed the last achievement. the character and vehicle graphics arent the greastest but the view of the scenery is amazing. I liked this game because its slightly different to the other adventure shoot 'em-ups at at the moment because hte main character is a adrenaline junkie e.g whilst flying a plane you can jump out the plane and stand on the wing , CRAZY.
A customer from London, England , 01/06/2007
I really liked the structure to this game, with huge vistas and beautiful scenery. Possibly the only GTA type game I have enjoyed since Vice City came out.
Andrew Wells from Yarm, England , 15/05/2007
This game could have been better considering it was on the XBOX 360. I felt that this was the sort of game that belonged on the original XBOX. I played this game for a few hours and got bored quite quickly rather than feel I needed to keep playing like the game 'Gears Of War', which I feel is the best game I have played on the XBOX 360. If you are into GTA then you may like this but don't expect amazing sound and graphics like other titles on the XBOX 360 but this is my personal opinion, so lend it and try it for yourself.
david pomfrett from warrington, England , 09/05/2007
Great game for about 3 hours once you've got over the size and the way it looks you have to start playing the game, and this is what lets the game down. There is little variety once you get started. The game is well worth a bash but i wouldn't recomend buying it but i would recomend you rent it (if only for the easy to get gamer points!)
A customer from Sheffield,England , 05/05/2007
I've just got this game and it's fantastic!!There's lots of land to explore, lots of weapons and the best wepon i think in Just Cause is a grapple hook because you can get choppers that sometimes have rockets that are greatDon't rent this gameBUY IT!!!!!
A customer from Reading, England , 01/05/2007
There are quite a few bugs in this game but it's still worth playing, there are so many vehicles & weapons to cause chaos with & don't forget to grapple a helicopter to take control of it now & then.
Anthony from St Helens,England , 24/09/2006
Just Cause is a funny old game its brilliant dont get me wrong thats why I gave it four stars but and its a big but it's full of bugs, glitches and a lack of imagination its like the developers had this superb game engine but didnt really know what to do with it.really its the world graphics and the things you can do in the world that make the game,a bit shallow I know but its the sad truth. There is no loading at all unlike Oblivion the whole island is streamed constantly but it does load the textures like oblivion did it isn't as noticeableon the ground as it is in the air though. You can also tell more time was spent on the vehicles planes, jets, bikes, cars etc than the npc characters as they seem very wooden but perhaps we have just been spoilt by all these rag doll effect physics that seem so popular now, but it would have added greatly to the overall feel of the game. There are 21 story missions in the game but to be fair these are split into 2 or 3 submissions and there are hundreds and hundreds of side missions but these seem to be in the go there kill that come back variety, but you do get new vehicles and weapons when you've completed a set amount. This review seems very negative doesn't it so why the four stars here's why, your being chased by the police you have a crappy old truck they have 2 helicopters and various top of the range vehicles there hitting you with machine gun fire rockets are exploding on everyside what do you do,well you dont just stop hijack one of there vehicles and speed ofF this isn't GTA no,you jump onto the bonnet of your truck ,jump, release your parachute and glide onto there vehicle and jump in then head for the nearest cliff, there gaining now so you take a nose dive of the cliff jump out of the car, onto the roof, jump off the roof, skydive a bit, open your parachute locate that helicopter that was attacking you attach your grapple hook pull yourself up throw out the pilot and take control your self then you turn around to face your attackers and unleash death.phew, so its how you play the game that will get you the most enjoyment out of it, you make your own set pieces and hopefully the sequel will fix all the previous faults and we will have a truly astounding game.
