Rated - 4 starsGreat for spidey fans and rental.

JWhitfield from South west, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 17/10/2007

I thought the game was great for a week of play, enough time to pick up the majority of achievements from the story villans and several extras from swinging around the city fighting crime as it happens.

There are many fun extras that vary the game. bomb disposal which gives you varied puzzles and some button mashing. Races which are more or less self explanatory except for the tricks you sometimes have to do. Skydiving games which is hard to understand and control, at least for me. And there's also combat tours which involves swinging from place to place disposing of increasingly difficult gangs of enemies.

Some say the camera is a bit funky sometimes but that's only when web swinging since the camera is effected by the direction you're moving. Simply put, don't use the right analogue stick when swinging around, I don't think there is a way to control it well. The camera is a little disorientating when crawling along walls sideways or down but it's the way spiderman would see things, you get used to it after you've tried it a few times.

Most of the achievements are gained simply in the course of the story but there are many others for those that hunt a challenge. As a whole they're neither too easy or hard but don't require a lot of time in order to get them, it's more based on skill.

The action sequences are fun too, involving button combinations in order to complete feats of skill. Sometimes annoying when you fail but most repeat automatically and the others are battle finishers which hurt you if you make a mistake.

It's not a perfect game but as a movie tie in and short rental game, it's the best I've ever played.

Rated - 4 starsGood game!

David Cartledge from Glasgow, Scotland , 07/06/2007

Well worth a rent!

You can get s decent amount of gamerscore from this game by simply just completing the missions and better yet have fun along the way.

Rated - 4 starsUnderated Game

Leigh from England , 25/07/2007

This game was way too underated. I thought it was really good, Swinging through the city makes you actually feel like your Spiderman. The Graphics were pretty good if you take into notice the fact that the city is so large. It is pretty short, but it will last a while if you play in hour long bursts. I don't think I'd buy it just cos of the shortness, but definetly worth a rent. 4*

Rated - 2 starsNot great

EconomyBore from Clydebank [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/05/2007

This game has great potential but is let by a dreadful camera which makes the game nearly unplayable. Its ok to play for a short time before the frustration of it takes over.

Avoid!

Rated - 3 starsOne web too far....

aVo from Prescot , 27/11/2007

Usually Video Games of blockbuster movies like Spiderman dont live up to the hype and well, neither does this one, i can see what angle the developers have tried to take with Spiderman 3 and i like it, but i think it was all too much all too soon.

Just imagine Grand Theft Auto + Spiderman swinging from every object he can, sounds fun dont it, well it is for a few hours but then gets old quickly.

Gameplay

The overall gameplay isnt that bad, the camera view will annoy you in a matter of minutes and not hours, but swinging from building to building chasing down the villain wont get old and is really enjoyable, the combat system is repeatative and could of been done better, i can sum up the gameplay by just telling you to look at Kevin Costner's filmography 'Surely he will do a good movie, eventually' same goes with movie games, there will surely be a good one on the way sooner rather then later. 5/10

Graphics

When you look at some of the games now out for the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, this game doesent compare but neither did i expect it to, one thing i do like about Spiderman 3 is the size of the city, it is huge and previously had never been done in this genre (off the top of my memory) with no loading screens at all which is very pleasing and makes the experience more flowing and fluid, but you come to expect that with the next generation of games.

Some areas are quite blocky and are pretty ugly to look at, but Spiderman himself moves very fluidly and never batters an eyelid no matter what you throw at him. 6.5/10

Longevity

Well i am writing this on the day i got the game in the post, does that sum it up for you, i wouldnt recommend this to my friends but neither would i tell them not to rent it either, if your a big Spiderman fan or Marvel comics fan this game will keep you going for a good while, otherwise its a week at most and you will have your fill of spiderwebs and super villians for a good while. 5/10

Rated - 3 starsNot as bad as the film but Not as good as it could have been!

Chris Hoskins from Devon, england [Highly rated reviewer] , 20/02/2008

First i must point out i was rather generous with my 3 star rating. If i had brought this it would definitely been 2 stars at the most.

The reason being that theres no online play or any other modes except the main story mode thus any replay value is non existent. Being a rental though thats not really important but still its always nice to have a little extra fun in a game, and this needs it!

this isnt a bad game on the whole, its just soo mediocre that its frustrating, every aspect seems as though its a hair apart from being any good. the in-game graphics are of the standard 360 variety but far from jaw dropping, the same can't be said for the cinematics though, even on the old xbox or ps2 they would still be below average.

the physics engine is solid and the game play does have moments of enjoyability between the seemingly endless frustration of the repetitive levels that either have you chasing someone, fighting a small army, taking pictures or defusing a bomb. the latter being the most enjoyable as it actually requires abit of thought and planing unlike the random button bashing fighting system the majority of missions require.

another enjoyable aspect is the ability to free roam swinging from building to building where ever you like, it does get old after awhile but initially its probably the most fun thing you'll do in the game.

this game IS worth renting just to check it out its got a lot of fairly easy achievements if your into that and it will keep your attention for a week at most, its not really worth keeping it any longer then when theres so many better games on here to rent.

Rated - 3 starsThis game is hard and boring

Paul Morel from Farnborough , 25/05/2007

The game graphically is amazing, and for people who love doing button combos for special moves you will love it, it was not for me though, and achievement points are hard to get.

Rated - 1 starShame

Godlike3000 Godlike3000 from Warrington , 06/09/2009

if you enjoyed 1+2 then dont get 3, its a shame they messed with the format!

Rated - 1 starNothing special

Imran5x Imran5x from Sheffield , 09/08/2009

Decided to rent this on the Xbox 360 rather than the PS3 to get some more achievements.. It's decent if you just want a game to play through but it's not going to get you hooked or anything. If you like Spider-Man I guess it's worth a go as high definition web slinging is always fun.

Rated - 2 starsMovie games will never be good

SilentOblivion1 from Newton Aycliffe , 31/07/2009

This is yet another disappointing game based on a movie. Spiderman 2 was better but only just.

the game is quite boring and just involves swinging around the city and doing missions which are generally very similar to each other. it was fun for a few hours and i wish the game was only a few hours long because i would of been entertained throughout but i am only around half way through and bored out my mind with it.

i think spiderman fans will get more out of it but the average gamer won't.

xmen the official game is better than this so if you like marvel then buy that

Rated - 1 starDisapointing.

smithy1234 from Colne , 08/07/2009

very disapointing not what i expected at all would not recomend as far as game play goes its very poor was very disapointed.

Rated - 3 starsspiderman 3

salthepal from Norwich , 09/05/2009

There are many spiderman games but i think revolutionized the standard of most action hero games. Theres quite a lot to do so it will keep you busy. Theres as before absolutely brilliant combat moves and the bad guys vary from punk rockers to girls in a skirt. They have also captured the extra missions exeptially well not including the story line. I reccomend highly to all spiderman fans. The graphics and gameplay is worth the time and money.

Rated - 1 starUrghh

MonumentOfRibs from Brierley Hill , 24/03/2009

The camera angles, shoddy combat and poor visuals make this game virtually unplayble

Rated - 2 starsSpiderman 3

Jequinox from Hull [Highly rated reviewer] , 09/03/2009

I think this was one of the best spiderman games, but I still expected much more from this game. It's a shame really I think Superhero games could be a great genre, but the keeep disapointing me. We shall see what the new Xmen is like when that comes out.

Rated - 3 starsA good rental

A customer from Droitwich , 23/02/2009

All round really enjoyable game, decent graphics, like the other guy said when you consider the size of the map. IT IS HUGE! Never been to New York myself but it seems like it is the entire of the city.

Really gets you in the feel of being spiderman, having played them all, this is the best yet. And so to all spidey fans or just generic comic character game players, definitely recommended!

My only beef with it is the boss fights are a bit too dragged out and the camera angle can get a little confusing as it is from spiderman's view, but thats only when your wall climbing. But overall, great game!

Ive given it 3 and a half stars but i could probably push a 4 star for it

Rated - 2 starsmindless tasking

bensonbenson2004 from Amersham , 11/02/2009

the same pretty much all the way through but the first 20 mins are very entertaining sick of it after an hour rent don't buy

Rated - 0 starsWorst game ever

diggles from Hull , 02/10/2008

This game would have been fun if I where 2 years old.

Rated - 2 starsSpider-Man 3

dav2612 dav2612 from Perth , 18/09/2008

If you are a Spider-Man fan then you may be best to stick with the films. If you liked the previous game then you will like this as it is just much more of the same.

The game is ok but no more than that and certainly nowhere near as entertaining as the films.

Graphically this game is poor for an xbox 360 title. The graphics don't seem to have moved on much since I last played Spider-Man 2 on the Gamecube. The graphics in the cut-scenes wouldn't look out of place on a PS1.

I don't find the movement of Spider-Man to be as good as it could be. The camera can be quite twictchy when swinging on webs and it can get a bit disorientating when you hit a building or a vehicle. I think the swinging was better on the Spider-Man 2.

I also find that when I am climbing up the side of a buliding and try to speed things up by jumping that sometimes he jumps up as I want and sometime he just jumps out the way and off the building and that can be a little frustrating.

I find some of the missions a bit out of character for Spider-Man, I'm not sure he would beat up women and in a photography mission you have to take pictures of the crime but then leave the crime taking place, surely he would attempt to stop it.

This game could have been so much more, it's playable but I see no progress from the last game and it feels like a wasted opportunity.

Rated - 2 starsvery dissapointing

gta gta from Bradford , 17/06/2008

a very bad game, im not about playing boring games just to unlock achievments but if thats you, what we gamers call a point ho then go for it, i played it for max an hour although i got bored after 30 minutes but still wanted to give it a chance. if you like good games just press the back button and find somthing else.

Rated - 3 starsfun but frustrating

spidercallum from Hertfordshire , 03/06/2008

this game has a good storyline, and some fun missions and lots of things to do, but it does get frustrating real quick and after about the 20 hours of playing to complete the main missions, looking for the side-missions, tokens and completing other tasks such as sky-diving, bomb tours and races didn't even cross my mind.. i'd probably say this is more of a 'pick this game up for a tenner secondhand' kind of game as i much rather would have completed this game over a longer time period so i didn't get so frustrated..

Not bad game, swinging around the streets, climbing up the walls of buildings etc - but does get a little repetitive.

Rated - 3 starsFun, but lame

A customer from Brierley Hill , 14/03/2008

The game is fun in that you can swing around manhatton, and go pretty much everywhere. However the missions are completely lame. You spend most of it fighting gangs that are just plain ridiculous; Punks, Girls and martial art fighters with guns?

Gamerscore wise you can get up to 800 but you need to be extremely patient, this game will have you throwing the control about.

Rated - 2 starsNot the best of the spiderman games.

A customer from Derby, England , 28/02/2008

I've played a few of these and this isn't the best one i've played. The graphics are good, but the combos and attacks get repetitive. The story line isn't the same as the actual movie as well.

Rated - 1 starWith great films comes not so great games!

MattyP83 from Stokey Broke On Trent - England [Highly rated reviewer] , 17/02/2008

Why o why, its a game from a film, need i say more??? bad graphics, boring gameplay, basically just feels unfinished, shame because if the makers of the game hadnt been rushed this could have been better than spider-man 2 game, i blame the producers of the film rushing them, what a waste of good potential

Rated - 2 starsHead Doing Spidey

Inkedpuppy from Newcastle Upon Tyne , 15/01/2008

I did like some of the old Spidey games... Unfortunatly from the offset and tutorial of this one the moves were manic with no feel of gameplay! Maybe one for rental, 30 mins for me and it was back in postbox. Sorry Spidey!!

Rated - 3 starsDecent Game

Rated - 2 starsspider man xbox 360, not as good as psp

A customer from surrey england , 22/11/2007

I had spiderman on the psp and that was much better than this.

It looks brilliant but the controls are really hard.

Rated - 3 starsGood (for about 1 hour)

A customer from S. London , 06/09/2007

Great fun swinging through New York and the graphics whilst not the best, do give you a sense of the the Spiderman experience.

What lets it down big time is the actual gameplay of fighting characters and completing missions . The game struggles to sustain the interest and in the end you go back to swinging around until eventually you get bored. Good for a couple of nights - but thats about it.

Rated - 1 starComplete Tosh

A customer from Oldham , 02/09/2007

If your a big gamer then don't bother, this game is so boring after 15mins of play.

Seems like only big fans of Spider-Man or 13 years and under will like this game.

AdamGilbey from Middlesbrough , 01/08/2007

It looks and sounds amazing but the gameplay is terrible. They have tried to make a superhero GTA and failed miserably. You have to travel around the city to do various tasks and some of its just plain stupid.

Rated - 3 starsOK, not the best though.

freckledmoon from Bath , 06/07/2007

It was ok. graphically pretty amazing. Easily one of the 'Next Gen' games. Not as good as ultimate Spider man or Crackdown. Worth renting though gives you a good frew hours fun game play but then just gets boring and far to linier.

Rated - 2 stars3 days of fun, but that's it

A customer from England , 18/06/2007

Graphics are good on a HD TV, but that's about it I'm afraid. This is OK and is fun for 2 or 3 days. Soon gets boring and repetitive though, so an ideal game to rent.

Rated - 2 starsYawn

A customer from Kirkcaldy, Scotland , 26/05/2007

ok well first few hours as spiderman and your wizzing about the city at high speed performing acrobatics and averting crime and all is well, some nice touches and good combos to try out on the helpless bad guys. then it creeps in, the fact that your not really that interested in what your doing. This game isn't as bad as some have said in reviews and its worth a rent in fact its idea for a rent. someday someone will make a really good spiderman game, but it is not this day. decent attempt though, just don't think movie games get enough time to really make a decent effort. takes 2 or 3 years to make a good game these days, think these guys had less than a year.
