Boooooooring! Played for a couple of hours...if you count the 2 hour nap i had! This is like the other 2...get the first one cheap and just play it again and you have the feel of Halo 3. Rent Bioshock instead and have some real fun!
two99 from , 04/01/2008
Very boring and dull, sorry..... Bioshock is much better.
A customer from Swindon , 07/12/2007
The game started and I could browse the menu etc but it gets to 29% and failed to load content so I couldn't start any campaign or solo games!!! Tried it on my 360 (white) and Elite, same on both! swapped HDD's about too... no dice.Couldn't play the game so it gets a poor review from me.
A customer from Staffordshire , 27/09/2007
This is a fantastic game to say the least. The use of action packed game play and adrenalin pumping music really gives you what you need to have fun in a game. For those fans of previous games from the Halo franchise this game includes all the fun online and offline the last two did with some excellent additions to refresh the experience. The storyline runs for around about the same amount of time those of Halo 1 and 2 and leaves no disappointments when you venture to the end. Featuring stunning AI and sheer brilliant online capabilities this game is a must have for any Xbox 360 owner. All in all this game lived up to the hype its well known for. I would gladly recommend this game to anyone with an Xbox 360 and finish by saying this is a must have for the Xbox 360 platform. In response to the comment titled 'it aint out at time of writing...' There was a Beta available to everyone with Xbox Live at the given date so Halo 3 has been played and experienced before release so please dont ignore the comments posted before release.

This game can only be described as mental agony- if like me you have experienced better FPS then this game is torture to try and even 'get into'.Very boring, very dull and very over-rated!Get Bioshock, COD4 or R6V2 instead.Or if you want the best Sci Fi shooter then get Mass effect!AVOID AT ALL COSTS
dJBO7 from St. Helens [Highly rated reviewer] , 15/01/2008
This game should be for 3+ its liek a kiddies game, worst game i have ever played COD 4 all the way.
jonsi from Llangefni , 10/03/2008
Just quickly, this is the most rubbish game I have played on the xbox so far. Thank god I have COD4..
UberDudes from Nuneaton Uk , 02/10/2007
Game is really good loads of replay value, it took me a while to get into it ,but after i did i enjoyed playing , online mode is sweet.,Grab a copy while it's hot
welshboy from S.Wales [Highly rated reviewer] , 13/03/2008
HALOf a wast of time! Bought it the day it came out and hated it the day it came out. In my opinion its not worth the disc it's burnt on. Boring, stupid enemy's and crappy weapons.A lot of people say they love it but I think most of them just think they should love it. Extremely over hyped.Get Bioshock! It's MUCH BETTER!!!
hthound from Crawley [Highly rated reviewer] , 26/02/2008
I am a huge Halo fan and eagerly awaited this title!Oh god what a load of rubbish it could have been so better not long enough by far!complete waste of time when the others where so ground breaking the thought that they had so much more with the 360 being far superior to the xbox. but, they choked and came up with a half cocked story, shortened version. just so they could make money on Halo wars.
chazza from Ardrossan, SCOTLAND!!! , 07/12/2007
I'll keep this simple..... If u like shoot em ups then buy this!! Despite what people say about the campaign being crap, that is just nonsense.. its simply good. This game only sold billions of copies off the shelf because its complete quality through and through.. As much as they are good games, forget gears of war or medal of honour, call of duty and the rest... YOUR LIFE IS HERE NOW!!!!
A customer from Bradford , 17/06/2008
ok halo is a good gamee it was great for a few week (Being a online game.) but after a bit it just so repetative mainly just because 99% of playin is just shoot assault rifle then melee over and over campaign was poor and youll be bored of the online with in a few week allround its a pooor gamenot worth renting or buying really. get CoD4 or something.
Kristofer Lee from Much Hadham , 04/12/2007
What can I say? The most anticipated game of the year or even since the launch of the 360. But the question is that of has it been worth the wait?100% yes! (Seriously what were you expecting?!)This game is fantastic. The graphics are superb and the story plays out wonderfully even if it is a little short. However all it takes is for you to stick it on Heroic or Legendary and you will see those game play hours rise. Many new weapons have also been introduced and which really can vary the way you approach a situation. The general way in which the game is played is still very similar to previous Halo games but with a few minor adjustments which seem to make the game run that bit smoother. The introduction of equipment is nice but it only really becomes necessary when playing on Legendary. One of the most significant additions is that of four player co-op which really makes the story a laugh and makes even Legendary feel like a breeze. There is quite a bit of variety in the missions but the premises of shoot first shoot again and keep shooting until nothing is breathing stands throughout. The multiplayer is awesome and has some great new features in it such as the rank system and new features on the game maps really help make it stand out from your average team death match shooter. The inclusion of movie editing abilities is a nice feature but you will probably find yourself only using it when something truly spectacular happens.Forge is an interesting addition allowing you to edit items within a map and play with people online at the same time but like the moviemaker you won't find yourself using it that much. The achievements may annoy a lot of people as the majority of them are online and are for all on all matches. This means it can be very difficult to get some of the achievements and may make the game shorter for those who are achievement junkies. There is one flaw with the game however. I just feel a bit too much of the same. It feels like Halo 2 with new graphics and a different story. Bungie really could have made this game superb but I personally feel the failed to add something to Halo that would make it the epic conclusion to the trilogy I had been hoping for.
A customer from n.ireland , 02/01/2008
I am not a fan of the halo games, though I can see why others enjoy them so much. I tried playing the single player for a few hours and didn't like it at all, it was dark, depressing and had no atmosphere and there was no impetus to continue. The multiplayer is fantastic, though not to my tastes either. The graphics, though good technically, were not pleasing (too gray or dark), though the foliage was one of the best I've seen in a game graphically. Rent if you have doubts, but if you do like the style of the game, buy it because it's all about the multiplayer.
A customer from Hertfordshire , 05/06/2008
Over ratted! If you love america get this! everyone sounds some what stupid? enemies seem kiddy? i dont know what it is, I didnt not like it one bit.
A customer from Scotland , 21/02/2008
I'm uncertain if I should recomend Halo 3 for those who will only play it as a single player game, since it is reletively short and most of the features require you to be online. The graphics and the sound are top quality and the gameplay and the enemy AI is solid and can be challenging enough to keep most gamers occupied particularly in the higher diffiiculty settings. However, where this game really stands out is on the Xbox live, in comparison, the single player mode is...well boring. There are various modes and challenges available from last man standing to story mode. One warning, however. Do not try xbox live games until you are fairly good at this game, otherwise you will not enjoy it since you will spend most of your time being killed.
Crypticgrifter from Northampton , 01/01/2008
I had played the original Halo game on the X-Box and was, to be fair, not overly impressed so I gave up on the franchise and didn't bother with Halo 2. I have never been a big fan of first person shooters, been more of a driving game fan, until recently I discovered Call Of Duty 4 which I think is one of the best games I have played since I started gaming about 20 year ago. After this great game I thought I would give Halo another chance so I rented Halo 3 after all the hype it received claiming to be the best game of 2007. What a load of old cobblers. The gameplay is dark, slow, boring and more importantly it pales in comparison to COD4. I will not be revsiting the Halo franchise but do want to say, bring on COD5
charlieell from Cambridge [Highly rated reviewer] , 29/04/2008
I found this game to be very dissapointing. Way too unbelievable and a bit too unrealistic.
A customer from Eastleigh, Hants , 23/10/2007
What can i say. Great Campaign, Great Online Play, the whole package.Long Campaign missions, with lots of twists, new enemies and a whole host of new weapons and vehicles. Also with the addition of finding skulls and Terminals keeps you busy for hours while you work to earn the gamerscore.Online mode features alot of fun maps, cant wait for more though bungie, and all the levels are alot better built to mean all out warfare. And no more superbouncing which is great. Also the addition of earning ranks aswell as levels means even the less good gamers can have great fun and earn their mark, while the pros run off to the high levels. You can also choose what sort of players you are against.Definately the best of the three, though takes some getting used to with the muddle up of all the buttons. Dont just rent, buy!!!!!!!
A customer from Yorkshire , 16/10/2007
Halo was an astounding game, Halo 2 was what I can only describe as an add-on, and now Halo 3 has done pretty much the same thing, all they've done is add a couple new weapons, a few new vehicles and stuck them on the same old scenery and corridors as before. This is far from a milestone in gaming when you compare it to games like Half Life 2 where practically everything about it is new. This is worth a play, and by that I mean rent it, dont ever buy it as it aint worth the money.
A customer from York , 13/11/2007
The Halo series are completely over rated: clunky, heavy controls, uninvolving story line, weak weapons and poor enemy A.I. all add up to a particularly mediocre experience.Halo is the Half-Life for younger ones. Bigger weapons, bigger explosions, less involving storyline/convincing world, less subtle story telling...Half-Life 2 episode 2 is a much more involving and satisfying experience than Halo 3 could ever be.
xray from London (tottenham) [Highly rated reviewer] , 24/06/2008
i think this game was boring, story line is hard to follow and is boring, online is great for around a week or two
ashgawa1011 from Doncaster [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/05/2008
the game feels like it has got alot fo options but i like shooters where blood comes out and its real gory (bioshock for example) and this game just didnt do it for me. also you jump wayyyyy too high lol.
DefJam from Warwickshire, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 18/09/2008
This game is seriously overrated. I actually baught this game for £120 (Legendary Edition). Let me tell you now, it is sh*t. get Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six V2. They are 5000x the game this is.
IanLov from Dunoon , 16/10/2007
Ok after playing 1&2 I was expecting more in the final Halo. This game was good dont get me wrong but its just Halo 1&2 combined for the campaign.Completed it in one day on Legendary and even then had to do 4 of the levels twice as would give me the achievement for it.Online is ok but the maps let this game down definitely worth the rent and even buy for the die hard Halo fan however I would recommend that you wait till Bungie release new maps
A customer from Bury St. Edmunds , 27/05/2008
Your wrong if you feel that this game was over rated or no good. Im guessing, if you dont like Halo, then your also most likely somebody that doesnt like Gears of War, Call of Duty 4 and Gutiar heroes, and insted you somthing relentlessly mediocre like Haze. I suggest to you that you take up a different hobby. This is clearly the best Halo yet, it still captures the adrenaline filled game play of the original and just expands itself to be a truly epic end to the saga. The user interface it the best on any game to-date, making online play and online co-op as easy as can be. With extra features such as Forge and Theater, and the truely amazing Bungie.net intergration, this game clearly stands out from the rest. With the over filled shooter genre on the xbox 360 at the moment, the sort of innovative gameplay on offer in Halo 3 will ensure that this is one of the most memorable games of the generation. So to all those that believe the campagin is boreing, I ask, WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU WANT? HOW ARE YOU NOT SATISFIED? This game has given you levels with a wide range of settings. Maybe its possible that the kids that havent enjoyed it are simply not much good at it? Try turning it up from easy to legendry with a couple of mates and get on it. So lets stop with the 'trying to be different' Halo is overrated bandwagon, and get down to playing some matchmaking. Which is of course is the other aspect of Halo. Halo 2 matchmaking was played for the remaing two years after release as the most popular xbox live game, Halo 3 matchmaking is has just got better...thanks for reading.
neevie24 from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 09/05/2008
I must admit I have never really followed any of the HALO games but when this title was released I sat up straight and paid attention. The big buzz going around the game was immense. So I finally decided to rent it because I did not know if I would enjoy the title, not played any of the others. The single player mode was relatively easy to follow even though some parts I did not get but I thoroughly enjoyed it; from the style and feel of the whole game down to the graphic's details. Multiplayer mode was at first a little bit confusing but I quickly understood how to match make. The way that Bungie Software has created the match making so it is easily balanced on your skill level is excellent as you are not getting humiliated by players that are far more experienced then you. I really enjoyed the whole feel of this game my only complaint would be that none of the teams I seemed to play with liked talking; I was told that is because the button to talk makes it harder to play the game. But everything else was great. Pity now that Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie Software have gone there separate ways.
C411UMH from Edinburgh , 26/03/2008
Insanly fun. In the campaign you can play up to 16 people at once and and in online you can even make your own maps and play them.5 stars for me!
Alistair9 from Cambridge [Highly rated reviewer] , 17/03/2008
I can't write along revfiew for this since i was pretty dissapointed and don't want to dwell on it. Its just Halo 2 with slightly better graphics and worse levels.
A customer from Scotland , 29/10/2007
Really bad game, stay away, no change from the first two games. the first one was great, since then it has gone downhill. Do not waste your cash. The online play is awfull no better graphics from the first two. A total shock as it should have been made better for hd ect and the 360`s hardware. Dont even bother. Single player is very short and easy only about 7 hours of gameplay. 2/10
Sovereign from Bury St. Edmunds , 17/09/2008
Halo 1 was pretty boring.yeah,it looked ok for an Xbox, but still.then there was Halo 2,which took some things out,and added some more (but useless and boring) features.and had an online mode full of 'yeehaa yeah i own you n00b' americans.im not saying all americans are bad, just most of the Halo players tend to be those annoying types that think that America is the only country on the planet.Halo 3 is EXACTLY the same has Halo 1,but with Halo 2's multiplayer.that, and everything is just shiney.the graphics are pretty bland and boring and it plays pretty rubbish too.its way to easy to be good at it,which is why i think so many people prefer it.if you can put up with a boring shooter with boring but shiney graphics, then go ahead and play it.but it tends to get boring pretty quickly.
A customer from Reading , 05/08/2008
iit is amazing game and found it even better online the camaign is great and there is great achivements on the game and the double experience games come up every week rent it or u will never play a better game in 2008 (better than call of duty 4)

THIS GAME IS GREAT IN ALL ASPECTS - GREAT ACHIEVMENTS, GREAT GAMEPLAY, GREAT STORYLINE, GREAT MULTIPLAYER MODE, HIGH AMOUNT OF GUNS AND VEICHLES AND FUN - AMAZING GAME RENT OR BUY THIS
damon from Berwick-upon-Tweed [Highly rated reviewer] , 11/05/2008
i have completed this game on the campaign 3 times.. all dificulties and the campaign is nothing special in my mind.. but if i was you, only rent or buy this game if you have xbox live because it must be in the top three for online gameing... the graphics for this game are fairly decent, the gameplay is simple and easy to catch up on but the online is what makes this game with its matchmaking... only buy or rent this game if you have xbox live!!
HaroldMunk from Baldock , 29/04/2008
Playing the 1st and 2nd would help a lot as you won't fully understand the storyline but is still great. 1 of the best online multiplater games i have ever played. Lot of campaign varients, good achievments but the best aspect is deffinatly the online as it's huge and gets updated regularly. Even the campaign is 4 player, with ability to watch all games you play (campaign and multiplayer) in diffrent angles and speeds and so on.Overall deffinatly worth getting, even more so if you have Xbox Live.
superjim from Durham, UK [Highly rated reviewer] , 13/04/2008
Good game and worth renting if you have played the other two. However, Halo 3 is basically just a reworking of the first Halo, as was Halo 2, and as a result looks and feels abit dated compared to Bioshock for example, or even Half Life 2 from two years ago.Only rent if you have played the other two and want to complete the story. Bigger and better games are plentiful!
A customer from Hyde , 20/03/2008
same as the original halo nice graphics though but you cant please everybody all of the time so worth renting to see if its yr cup of tea
A customer from Manchester , 16/03/2008
Didn't have enough time to really get into it, but I can this takes the Halo series to the next level
A customer from london , 22/01/2008
seems more of the same really, unlike half life 2 episode two which just seems better, halo 3 seems the same and I found it very hard to see the first level, even with the light on.
Ryan360 from Lincoln [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/03/2008
i really enjoyed playing this game .The week before whas amazing i whas so exited but when i actually got the game it whas just a terrible game.I traded it in , in the first 2 weeks of purchase and got Juiced 2 which whas so much better i must have been the first person in Lincoln too trade in the game only got £20.00 lol
A customer from Glasgow , 31/10/2008
I've never really understood the hype of halo. The story has no original aspects, the addition of vehicles had been done soo many times before by better games, and now halo 3 seems to just go backwards instead of moving a series forwards.I first came home to find my housemate playing this game. I remember immediately looking at the tv (on 42' full hd) and saying 'graphics arent up to much'. Character models are well detailed, but the geography and architecture is soo bland and lacks the same detail.Another thing about this is the weapons all sound like they are silenced! When you fire an assault rifle you expect to hear a nice loud gun sound, but in Halo 3 I could hear environment sounds louder than the guns going off. Maybe that''s just me.One pretty cool thing about this is watching the flood re-infest a body and bring it back from the dead. I'm trying to think of other things that were cool about it but im struggling.
A customer from Stoke-on-Trent , 14/01/2009
after playing halo and halo 2 i thought halo 3 would be outstanding :D:D:D:D but :( it wasnt i loved the matchmaking live and it was good when i first played the campaign but when i played leddandary it wasnt fun the fun soon ran out this game is only recommended for live thank you for reading guyssssssss.
dav2612 from Perth , 17/10/2008
To put it simply... if you like Halo and Halo 2 then this is for you. If you didn't think much of the 1st 2 games then this game will not change your mind.
A customer from Lichfield , 08/07/2008
By Far this is the best 360 game I own! I love the graphics, Very epic story, Sweet graphics and loads of new weapons! If you havent played it WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? BUY IT, YOU WONT REGRET IT!
WAPSTARKDS from Grantham [Highly rated reviewer] , 07/06/2008
if your a 360 owner chances are you have already played halo three, if you havn't then your in for a treat. good storyline continued from the previous two halo titles leaving us with a great trillogy even though the hd grafix are fantastic and the multiplayer side of the game is immaginative and highly playable it seems to be missing something, i can't say what, mabe with some extra content it could be one of the top five greatest games again, just not yet, look out for halo wars comming soon mabe that is whats missing, a chainge in play style. halo3 is a scifi fps human against an alien race hellbent on cleansing the universe of non believers featuring a giant ring in space with earthlike terrains. clever hey.
NV from uk [Highly rated reviewer] , 02/06/2008
Despite all the bad reviews of this, them people are boring and dull. This game is fun with or without a freind on campaign. And the ranking system on Multiplayer is great and will keep you playing LIVE for a long time.
shaunorsler from Bexleyheath [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/05/2008
sorry has to be 5 stars based on the fact you can complete the game online with up to 3 mates and can get most acheivement points with them too, excellent wish more games did that, you get the chance of oging trhough a game with all your pals for me thats just great, story and single player though isnt nothing special and obviously wasnt what they wanted to improve, a game best played on xbox live
Iain Forbes Brown from Exeter, England , 28/10/2007
For a start it has vehicles, something i'm sure the next edition in the Gears of War trilogy will have. The campaign is great, especially multiplayer. Halo 3 Is also massively open. It has huge battelfields unlike the claustaphobic streets in Gears of War. Online is better than Gears of War too, with vehicles and a more expansive weapon and sheild range.8/10
A customer from Aberdeen , 06/08/2008
This is an amazing game online as you climb up the ranks from apprentice to generalyou get given a skill level from 1- 50 compared to other players and can improve on itit's better than call of duty 4 as I was a call of duty addict but halo is so much more enjoyableHIGHLY RECOMMENDBRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TudorVII from Farnborough [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/03/2008
I haven't played the campaigns on either of the other Halo's, so I'll just say that the campaign on this one was good and I personally enjoyed it.But everyone knows that this game is all about the insane multiplayer games, only made insaner by the new forge option. From very specific custom games (I've actually made a PacMan level) to just adding a few more vehicles forge blows open the multiplayer option.Multiplayer is also further enhanced by the downloadable content, with two huge map packs being released it seems Bungie will have almost unlimited ways to improve the game. You need to buy this game if you have an Xbox 360, but if you dont play online much make sure you get it cheap.
scallycat from Wakefield [Highly rated reviewer] , 10/01/2008
My son said he really enjoyed this game and completed it in a couple of days.
A customer from Horsham , 14/12/2007
best game on the 360!!
MetaPhoenix from Smethwick , 21/06/2009
I really cannot believe some of the reviews from people on here claiming that Halo 3 is 'boring, slow, dull' etc. It's pretty safe to assume that these people only played the first mission or two and only played the game on Easy or Normal difficulty. And didn't even bother playing the Matchmaking. These people are foolish.Halo 3's campaign was built to run on at least Heroic difficulty, but it really comes into its own on co-operative mode on Legendary difficulty. One player controlling the Master Chief, the other controlling the Arbitar, you quickly learn the importance of finding a balance between fast paced gung ho blasting and tactical movement behind shelter, as well as the use of important equipment, such as the Bubble Shield, Regenerator and Active Camo. The campaign is somewhat short, with nine missions, which can all be completed within a few days. The game doesn't end there, though. Now we come to the biggest part of the game: The online Matchmaking mode.Regularly scoring more than 250,000 players online, Halo 3 is constantly at the top of XBox Live's weekly most played games lists. And for good reason. Sporting a grand total of 21 unique maps, ranging from small, compact maps to vast, large maps. Although, with the addition to the fully customizable Foundry and Sandbox maps, the amount of maps is potentially much higher. There are currently more than a half dozen official variants of these two maps, with more promised. There are also dozens of unofficial variants that can be downloaded and played via the Custom Games menu. There are plenty of game mades, catering for every type of player. Free-for-all games for people that like to fight alone. Four player team games, big team games and team doubles, depending on your team size preference. Skirmish/objective games such as the ever popular Capture The Flag, Territories and Assault. As well as the hardcore Team Swat, Snipers and MLG for the extra serious players.Halo 3 plays differently to standard FPS games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor etc, seeing as your character is a mega enhanced super soldier, so you're actually capable of taking more damage than you may be used to. This changes the basic dynamics of the game quite considerably. But it also makes the game much more enjoyable.Halo 3 is one of my favourite game. Having racked up nearly 1,000 online games and 400 custom games, as well as completing the campaign several times to get all of the achievements. It's certainly not a game you can just rent for a couple of days and truly appreciate its vast depth, though.
A customer from Hartlepool , 11/01/2009
Probably the most boring, uninvolving shooter experience I have ever played.Guns feel weak, inacurate and there was nothing new. No new weapons, no real new enemies.Predictible, same as previous Halo games.Online is aweful as you have kids and nerds who just jump up and down shooting.Dul, dull, dull
A customer from Gillingham , 30/12/2008
This game is brilliant- if you're a 2 year old.
A customer from Chatham , 29/12/2008
Good graphics and good online play. Now the positives are out of the way I can try to describe just what a boring, unimaginative game this is. You are part of a space-marines unit who have to kill aliens invading earth, hoorah. It's been done a millions of times before and rarely as badly as Halo 3. If you enjoyed Halo and Halo 2 you might enjoy this. I played both of Halo 3's predessesors and thought they were quite good. Halo 3 is an inadequate sequel. It's just so mind-numbingly boring. Each mission consists of 'The aliens are attacking in this location, go kill them'. When you've played games with as brilliant a storyline as the likes of Bioshock you will be incredibly underwhelmed by Halo 3.In a nutshell: the single player mode is pretty but boring. Online is flawless but still not my cup of tea.
Telumehtar from Exeter , 13/09/2008
First of all, I'd like to say that I've not had a good history with the Halo series. After a long hour tackling the first title on the original X-Box, I concluded that the game was uncontrollable and tiring. From that basis, I'm glad to say that Halo 3 really changed my view of the series. Many console FPS games offer awkward controls that can quickly ruin a gmae no matter how good the other elements are. This is not the case for Halo 3, as they've managed to effectively make use of the analogue sticks in such a way that you can both turn quickly and get a good aim on your foe.On top of this, I'm glad to see the massive variety of things that you can do throughout the story. Being able to hop onto vehicles and rip turrets out of the ground during your adventures makes for some exciting and novel moments that will never be seen twice.Another important feature that really lets this game shine is the ability to play co-operatively on the same machine. You can play through the single player campaign with 2 (and possibly 4) players on your big HDTV. This makes it great fun to blast through with a housemate or friend. Not only that, but after you've played through the campaign you can play in a plethora of multiplayer modes, also from the confort of your living room with your mates.Brilliant fun. While it's not perfect - the story could be longer and some of the elements could be expanded upon, this title is great to play through and worth investing the small amount of money that this game now costs.
WTF from Nottingham , 30/05/2008
this game is so good its almost unbelievable the storyline is so good from the get-go and ive never seen a game as beutiful as this,so all you haters are WRONG,when i first played the game i was used to CoD4 but you do get used to it after a while
monkeyboy2007 from leeds , 20/05/2008
this game is truly amazing and has a great storyline. once this game is played online it offers a new dimention to gaming and can be really fun this game is one where you will put it on at 6pm for 1 game and still telling misses at 1am 'just one more game' dont be suprised if you spend many nights on the sofa because of this game.for those who label this boring you must not have xbox live or be very dull yourselfthis game is a must
spidercallum from Hertfordshire , 13/05/2008
sure it has it's bad points, well, actually it doesn't. i'm sitting here trying to think of one, but i honestly can't. I've completed the campaign on normal, heroic and legendary, both single player and co-op with my girlfriend, who I also play the amazing online feature with quite a lot. Excellent, that's all I can say. Roll on Halo Wars!
skitt from Glasgow , 12/04/2008
Decent game, great graphics. Just wasnt my thing.
RhiRhi from Spalding , 04/04/2008
I mean it..there's just no point renting it. If you want to really appreciate it you have to buy it, especially if you have xbox liveAlthough personally halo 2 was my favourite, all the halos have been amazing, and this one certainly doesn't dissapoint. Practically any gamer should enjoy this. There are new vehicles, new enemies, new weapons, new objectives and other games within the game. There is now meta games which helps build up your gamer score. There are also skulls to collect, which if enabled through the game can have helerious and sometimes dire consequnces, which also help build up your gamer score, and result in some cool gear on live. It's also fun just trying to get them, as it can be difficult.Everything is very well thought out, and as usual with halo the visuals are stunning. The ending is fab and shocking, and although i've never really understood halo's story line, i feel it about concludes it.My only complaint with the game would be it's too short-if you become addicted to it like i did, the game flys by, and ends quiclkly, which is dissapointing. It also ends quite abruptly-just when you're getting really into it.Online it's even more amazing-you could play halo 2 online, but now when playing you are able to go up in ranks ranging from apprentices to generals, and you can win EXP which also helps you get through the ranks. There's a range of maps, and a range of games to play. It's a really thrilling adventure, and i advise anyone with sense to give it a go.
Alexioni from Worcester [Highly rated reviewer] , 20/03/2008
As this game was so hyped i decided to get it, and... i was pretty disappointed. It's just an average FPS with a fun little online mode.I went on campaign, and found it extremely boring. The levels are bland and have no life to them. As well as this there are what, 3 different enemies in most of the game and about 7 different weapons? On top of it there is some stupid complicated sci fi plot. However, online is quite fun. There is the great innovation of being able to combine splitscreen and online play, and it is good fun having 4 friends and you kick the crap out of everyone. So basically it's just a bog standard shooter with good online. Recommended if you enjoy deep multiplayer.
klashenkoff from Bradford , 16/03/2008
i not the biggest fan of halo i did like the first 2 they really brought something new to the genre which is saturated with thousands of crap titles. halo 1 was something completely new halo 2 improved the graphics and really showed what xbox live was capable of and the campaign wasnt bad either. but halo 3 was a disappointment everyone sang its praises before it was out saying it th best game ever and this that the other. it adds nothing new apart from shiny graphics (which arent even a minimum off 720p native) replays and forge take them away and what do you have halo 2. the multiplayer is ok but all that everyone does is shoot you a couple of times then melee you theres no strategy involved. if your looking for a first person shooter with a little something different get call of duty 4, bioshock or rainbow six vegas ( the second one is out next week so get that too)
A customer from Beith , 10/03/2008
I've never been able to figure out why the Halo games were so hyped (surely shooting germans is better than triangler alian misfits?)It was worked well upon, but has nothing on some more non linear titles such as the forth coming operation flashpoint 2 or GTA 4Don't get me wrong, it was never near the worst I've played but its never gonna be Nirvana for gamers!PSOnline is far better than the stale single player
Samuel Powell from wakey [Highly rated reviewer] , 03/03/2008
was enjoying a nice bit of halo 3 when the 3 red lights appeared on my console so didn't get full enjoyment. having said that, i've always found halo a bit quiet and lightweight. didn't play online so i guess i've missed the best bit.

Best FPS game ever.......as for a trilogy....just perfect.....

an amazing game for fans of the fps genre. 4 difficulty levels so anybody can get stuck in. lovely visuals and fantastic gameplay.

I HATED THIS GAME AT FIRST.I had been playing COD4 and pulling off one shot kills etc. this doesnt really happen on Halo 3 but now ive finished COD4 and ive concentrated on halo 3 it hay-may-zen.i must admit that ive just bought a 42inch panasonic vierra plasma and the matching surround sound so all my games are in full hd and full 5.1 but wow, this game is amazing. My personal view is dont believe the hype about any game but make sure you only play one type of game at a time e.g. one fps at a time etc.Cowey
Steve from Leeds , 21/01/2008
The first copy that i ended up with had the same problem that one of the previous reviewers had, it would load up to about 30%and then give up on us. We were that desperate to play the game through that we requested another copy and it came, and it was good.Lush environments, detailed charcter designs, great weapons, brilliant vehicle sequences, decent storyline and much more. However allot of the game seemed to be running on tracks, there was a huge lack of atmosphere and the early levels nearly meant that we gave up on it. About a quarter of a way through it started to deliver the goods. There are some sequences is this game that will have your jaw on the floor, although it does feel a bit Starship Troopers at times.Unless you have the ability for online multiplayer then give it a rent.
David Dodson from Telford , 09/01/2008
Quite frankly a exceptional game...But i dont know if it will beat the othersHalo 3 was alwasy being played until the release of COD4but then halo got played againIt wants to be a good game but might not do itBut the new maps make it more fun for hours on end
A customer from York , 05/01/2008
Which sums up Halo 3 alot, Halo 1 revistedLevels, Locations, Music, even some of the Flaws are taken right out of Halo 1This doesn't bother me to much, but it just seem to try to hard to be halo 1.Still, the single player campain is fun and with the inclusion of Skulls and Campain scoring give it a bit of replay valueThe Multiplayer is good, but still hasn't hit perfection.Great Game still, but not Game of the Year
jameskortright from Surbiton , 28/12/2007
This has exceptional game design and is a hell of a lot of fun to play. The single player game is rather short but is long enough. It is devoid of atmosphere, which after playing the darkness and bioshock, i was a little disappointed about. The multiplayer is fun but I must mention that I do NOT have Xbox Live and so my review does not reflect this aspect. A recommended rental!
bobochimp700 from Washington [Highly rated reviewer] , 27/12/2007
this is a good game but lets face it the single player campain is far too short, and apart from better graphics doesnt offer much above the previous halo games. But thanks to me being achievment points greedy it does have replay quality. The online gaming is the major plus point halo 3 and because of that i give it 4 instead of 3 stars. If you after a good FPS bioshock is the better single player game/story.
goatboy from Tring , 23/11/2007
After all the hype im sure there were alot who werent dissapointed.the multiplayer part of this game is what carries it off for me.The single player game the layout and levels were to simillar to the previous installment. There are some great weapons and the graphics are stunning but it didnt live up to the hype.
welshieman from Norwich , 06/11/2007
I bought this game on hype alone, being a PS2 guy I never played Halo 1 or 2. Graphics are sublime and the sound effects through surround are amazing. I found the game a little repetetive with only a few moments of tension (the defence of the base about a quarter of the way through...). my major annoyance was the game saving process, i had numerous times when i had to re do levels because of the way you have to save the game???online is the best element, although it took me a while to work out how to get started, the manual was useless and the interface is not as clear as other games such as Ghost Recon. All in all worth £35 of anyones money and as they improve the online experience the longevity should improve.
A customer from Southwest London , 28/10/2007
this game was amazing when it first came out. But since this game was released the replay value and mulitplayer is very boring now its the same old nothing new really, very easy gamescore points worth the rent.
A customer from On my Xbox,Again , 28/10/2007
Its not a bad game, not previously playing halo 1 or 2 didnt know what to expect. The single player game is good enough to keep you playing for a couple of weeks( or days, depends on how good you are) but its the multiplayer that it shines.Having your mates on the same team on slayer is great, winning or dying toghether, my best game is rocket race on sand trap. The game will be still being played when the next xbox comes out but i still love rainbow six over this
Germo from Newcastle , 24/10/2007
I have never played any of the Halo game but all the recommendation I thought I'll have to give it a go. I completed the game on Normal in about 6 days (3 hours per day). The game play is very good and graphic are also top notch. I also played it online which I think is the best part of the game... 1000's of online games. The only thing I would stay is not so good is that you can't run in the game .... just a fast walk. I don't think it is as good as Gears Of War but it comes a close 2nd... well worth a rent tho. Thanks
LouieDeBattisti from Slough , 31/12/2009
This is a brillont game it is not boring and will keep you going for a long time pluse they is the online play as well with is good and fun. Some pepple say this is a boring game and it is not they are just rong. You should rent this game and play it it is brilliont 9/10
california6066 from Stoke , 22/09/2009
I rented this game because i used to play Halo 2 which i really enjoyed when i played it with my mates. After playing Cod4 though this game seems quite boring and killing people online frustrates you due to the time it takes you to finally nail someone.Overall the game is ok and has good playability but to be honest i think this game is quite over rated. If you like first person shooters then stick to Cod4
Reallennon from Paisley , 18/08/2009
I rented this because of all the hype surrounding it and to be honest was more than dissapointed. The story, music and cut scences were all really good, however the most important thing, the gameplay, wasnt that good.If i found myself stuck in a difficult situation in the game i would simply run and press the jump button until I passed all the bad guys and it worked every time. For the online side of it, i couldnt really get into it as it is not as easy as other online games were you merely select X-Box Live and join match.
Optimus from Paisley , 12/08/2009
It took me a while to get into this game properly and i was pleasently surprised how good it was and the story line of the campaign is really really good and covers the previous games which was a great help as i have not played any other halo before this one. A fast moving fairly difficult game will have you testing your shooting skills to the very end but definately a good move for anyone not sure or not to try it yet grab it.

I'm prepared for the backlash here, but in my view the halo franchise has to be one of the most overrated franchises of all time. Hailed as the saviour of fps on original release the original halo was buggy, with poor handling and extremely generic, and don't even get me mentioned on the flood. Sure i was bought up on pc fps so preferred my shooters with a bit more depth in say something like operation flashpoint, but i still perservered, and completeed it in a couple of days. I perservered with this one too, so imagine my dissapointment when i realised i had completed it in less than 6 hours! and whats worse is that even on next gen it adds nothing to the series, sure multiplayer is fun, but the stand alone campaign just isn't worth money, rent this rack up the achievements and play multiplayer for a bit and you will see all the game has to offer in a matter of days
sorich15 from Barton-upon-Humber , 19/07/2009
very average the graphics are fine gameplay good just a very average game nothing special or out of the ordinary
iTzAlphaFail from Witney , 08/07/2009
The campaign in Halo 3 is criminally short and suprisinly easy on the Legendary (Hardest) difficulty, I even completed it single handedly with most of the skull active. The reason Halo is such a widely enjoyed game is because the Mulitplayer makes up for the lack of Campaign. So stop whining and get on XBL, you wont know the Halo experience until you do.

I have quite a new Xbox and it wouldn't even run, it may be the issues of drives being to slow but when I tried to install it to the hard drive it said the disc was scratched and it wouldn't let me play any of it campaign or multiplayer!

got this game because of all the hype, but managed 15 mins on the co-op campaign with my brother before we turned it off out of pure boredom. what are those purple triangular things that you shoot at? prefer call of duty or brothers in arms to this
Jurascheck from Bushey , 18/06/2009
This is definitely worth renting / buying if you enjoy FPS - Call of Duty, Bioshock, whatever. Give it a go!Single player was short but not overly so (as it usually is with COD). Story was unbelievably rich (if you get it - you may need to try quite hard :p) while graphics, AI and overall fun was huge. Still my favourite single player campaign on a game that has other modes (Bioshock rules otherwise) and it is magnified by the option of four-player co-op.Multiplayer is of course the strong point of Halo 3, and it is my personal belief that it is the best multiplayer experience I have ever come across. Even two years from the release date, it continues to shine through the rubbish that is COD 5 online. The only flaw is the lack of reqard for ranking up - and yet I prefer this infinitely to being giving stupidly powerful weapons if on a high level (think COD), ruining the balance of the game.Forge is great and a breath of fresh air in Map Editing - it's the first decent editor I've seen in years for the 360 and can be very rewarding on Sandbox especially. For some reason I can't identify, Theatre, Halo 3s film viewing and editing component, is my favourite part of the whole bunch. It appeals to me greatly to be able to view yourself or anyone you have played with from any angle, filming and taking screenshots that can be immortalised at Bungie.net.Talking of Bungie, I am thankful that they have such a focus on community - updates, new maps, new map variants , double EXP weekends and tournaments to win the fabled Recon armour to mention just a few - all while eveloping Halo 3: ODST, which I am looking forward to immensely. To summarise, grpahics, AI, single player, multiplayer, map editing, film editing, community support, balance, replayability...well I could go on forever, but basically they all score 10 for me. 5 stars, and my vote for joint-best game ever (check out the Orange Box is you get the chance)!GIVE IT A GO!
A customer from Hounslow , 05/06/2009
been playing halo 2 for a long long time since i got xbox live. couldnt wait for this game and was laughing how bad the game is. everything looks like a cartoon, enemies are studiply colourful and boring to kill. guns sound like childrens toys, assault rifle sounded great in halo 1 but now id rather use my fists. online is very decent with a few good modes.
Invander from skelmersdale , 15/05/2009
This is one of the best FPS on the 360, i have played. It follows on from the end of 2 and opens the story up some more. For me being a fan of the halo universe I loved ever moment of it and completed it on ever setting. it has 4 player co op as well which makes it a top game. The mp is awesome, but i guess once you get to the level you can't compete on you just get hammered.Best game ever !
MoaningHunter from Sutton , 11/05/2009
all the hype for this game and look it about 2 months after it was released - people barely played it. i laughed cause on the day of release i looked at my friends list and out of 10 people, 9 were playing it and i thought 'how long this'll last. if u want a good 900 gamerscore and got 3 other mates play the campaign on Legendary. online me not like.
HaloLover from Leicester , 07/05/2009
Right first, I just don't understand all these people rating this game so low I mean..It may take a while to get into. But can't people stop choosing their first impressions as their overall impressions? This game has such an amazing plot, pretty much the main reason for it's trilogy's success. There are plenty of multiplayer achievments which is great which a first person shooter game should have. Im sorry but I think this is what Cod lack: achievments. This is one of my favourite games as it is so fun with friends matchmaking (playing people online) and also creating and customizing maps. There is just so much freedom to building maps..its infinite. The main thing that stands out for me is that the sound is just quality. The soundtrack is so captivating and mysterious that its just fun to hang around on the main menu of the game listening to it.Another feature: 'Theater' mode lets you watch back all your epic fights that you just wouldnt want to forget from just about any angle possible. You can record them, save them and then share them with your friends. With it set in the future with stunning graphics and having such pure imaginitive characters I think Bungie should be proud of this game.
SHANEYBOY1995 from Harrow, London , 07/05/2009
This is one of the best games ever created. The campaign is good, even better on co-op.The online is great, if you have alot of friends on XBL then you can set up a custom game on Halo 3. Not to mention www.bungie.net you can download other peoples maps, see how many kills you've got with a certain weapon on a certain map, see how may medals you have and compare your friends stats. The community is great, the game is great 5/5

brilliant game and would buy
AndrewJackson from Insch , 08/04/2009
all i will say about this game is that the developers are complete retards. For the single reason that you can play the game in co-op with up to 3 freinds, which i thought was great until i realised that it has to be FREINDS, i.e. you cannot play with 3 random guys in the world who are playing the same missions as you, oh no, that would be too easy, you can only play CO-OP with freinds from your freinds list... so if your like me and was out of the country for 3 months when it was released you have no chance of completing this game on hardcore with 3 other people as all my freinds, funnily enough, completed this game when it was released and no one wants to play through it again for the benfit of me.Bungie, wise up... i am dissapointed that i bought this game instead of renting it.dont bother with this game, Halo has run its course, the whole concept is played out, boring, repetitive, well it is for me as i have completed them all so far... i could of brought myself to play this in a co-op but Bungie couldnt even get that right.Thats it, no more Halo for me ever again.
Pietrzak from Birmingham , 24/02/2009
Simply put, this is the best game I've yet played. This is much better than Halo 1 and 2, which I booted up again recently and were almost unplayable in comparison.I still sometimes play the campaign missions today - which is a high compliment since I don't usually play the non-online parts of games more than once. Just thinking about going through Bioshock for a second time for example gives me a headache.I love the way that you can slowly increase your power in levels by making your way up the vehicle foodchain - first you're on foot, then you jump onto a ghost, then you try to get a wraith. The levels are different each time your play them, depending upon which vehicle and weapons you've managed to pick up from the enemy. The reason I love Halo 3 is that there's a sense of epicness in the combat that no other game has matched. I think this is all done with the vehicles. Certainly the levels without vehicles are less played in my house than those with them. And the ubiquitous colourful neon laser blasts are just lovely.
Timittytim from Saltburn-by-the-Sea , 08/02/2009
This is by far the best multiplayer shooter on a console to date. The other games that it competes with are:Resistance SeriesCall of Duty SeriesBattlefield SeriesGhost Recon SeriesRainbow Six SeriesFar Cry SeriesAll Great games and are fun to a point online. Halo however has limitless enjoyment. Such a well balanced Game that has a development team that look over all their players and tweak the game to suit the majority.Being such a well balanced game means the only thing to really spoil your game is your connection speed, and saying that, halo is one of the least laggy games available. Its graphics may generally suffer for this, but it has some really attractive effects (explosions.etc) and very very rare frame rate issues.Additions such as Multiplater Theatre, Forge, campaign, Matchmaking and custom games mean there is plenty of variety for online and offline customisation and play.
A customer from Nottingham , 04/02/2009
If you are looking for a FPS with a co-op look no further. The story itself is decent but if you have not played the previous titles you maybe left a bit confused in some parts. There are several intense moments and some epic battles along the way which will make you keep playing to the end. It is not the longest campaign i completed it in two sessions, so you can get a decent amount of gamerscore from it quickly and get on to your next rental. The online is good if you put the time in, i personally tried it for 20 mins and got owned as most of the people playing it now are the hardcore players as it has been out for quite a while.
A customer from Nottingham , 25/01/2009
It's Halo. The first game was and is still the best game of all time. This is good as well, a little bit short, but still excellent.
A customer from Rugby , 21/01/2009
... things have come a long way since. You feel very detatched, the controls no longer feel fluid, the sprites dont feel like they are receiving any pain, its all a bit too fluffy. The presentation is there, going back to it after 12 months the feel is polished, however it lacks real 'crunch' real involvement. I loved the other two, but that was then, this is now. Gears of war 2 is a prime example of the way we should be going, this howeve rneeds an update if its to go halo4, it needs less umping, more heavy guns. I only got it cos I wanted to shoot my boss haha! (hi steve!). Otherwise, leave alone, its old.

Very Over-rated! I Dont Think It Was Like Any Of The Other Games Atall. Didnt live up to the expectations really, Even though the grapics were MUCH better [Mainly because its made for a xbox 360] it wasnt as good as the first or the second game in the trilogy. The Mission Were Fun! But there wasnt enough to the game, there were not enough mission in the game. I admit they were fun, special the last level :D, but it was pretty much the worst ending to a game ever [not including the ending to resistance fall of man]

As the third installment of halo it brings in a whole new world of options such as changing amour from the basic choices also the new forge forge allows the player to edit maps to create a whole new level of enjoyment. All in all Brilliant a must have.

When this game came people went mad for, and I just said you know what it looks like the other just better graphics. Hey you know what I was right, sorry to anyone that disagres bt theres nothing great about the gameplay its just the same as before. Dont get me wrong its not a bad shooter but it is just average although the graphics are nice to look at.Now I would like to comment on the multiplayer but I never got round to playing it but if it is like the first one then I dont see the fasination in that either, Unreal was far better than halo, although I did notice they added some new modes which looks like a co op mode which I could imagine would be quite good but as I said I never got round to playing it.They best bit about the game is the story, I found myself looking up on you tube and wikipedia what happen in the first 2 halos cos I was intreaged in the previous storys, and I was a naughty boy and watched the end of 3 too :) so all in all the would make a great movie so cant wait to see what that turns out like.
tekk11 from Stratford-upon-Avon [Highly rated reviewer] , 24/09/2008
this game is simply amazing! halo is regarded as one of hte best shooters and for very good reason. it just works perfectly! and i would reccommend giving this a go to anyone!but why the 4 stars? well, firstly it is very short. i completed it in 2 nights, and i am by no means a 'hardcore' gamer, so i wasn't playing it for hours and hours! the second reason is that i just feel bungie could have done better. it was a very very good game in many ways.... just lacked the flare i was expecting from all the hype that surrounded it.either way, you would be a fool not to give it a go!
dando2 from Ormskirk [Highly rated reviewer] , 17/09/2008
I had only played Halo 2 prior to this, thought it was a let down. Have recently played the original and although it looks a bit dated its still good. So i was getting a bit annoyed at all the hype around this but still went and picked up at 12 am and rushed home to play. The story hooked me straight away and even though it only took me around 8 hours to finish on normal i really enjoyed it. The second to last level is really bad though and is so badly designed its unreal. However this gets 5 stars for the online play. not only are there great options like capture the flag and team deathmatch but you can play the campaign in co-op which is really fun. If you dont have XBOX Live then this may not for you but if you do its a must.
A customer from London , 17/09/2008
this game has good graphics i tmay not be very good in the coop mission mode but the online mode its the best.
LycanSoldier from Eastbourne , 02/09/2008
Halo 3 is not as good as it was expected to be, but it made a good effort to live upto it's hype. But if you don't have live, then I wouldn't rent this. So first of all, campaign, well it wasn't too great, i'd say it was about average, could have used some more interesting ideas, and the marines AI could have been a little better! But this game shines at it's multiplayer options. Halo having one of the largest online communities, you will always be able to find a game, and there are constantly updated gametypes to keep the game fresh. Not up for something serious, go have fun in forge, Halo 3's map editor, garuanteed the first thing you'll do is make everything blow up!or just have a friendly game with your friends with all the settings and rules customized to your liking. And a very unique feature to Halo 3 is it's in-game theatre, which allows you to watch games you've played in first/third person, or control the camera yourself and position it anywhere on the map.So if you're looking for an in-depth story and amazing campaign, try something else. But if your looking for great online games, give Halo 3 a shot.
Kalkanoir from Ashford , 13/08/2008
I love the Halo series of game... any developer who fleshs out brilliant stories with fantastic gameplay are onto a winner! The game begins as you are found laying on the ground, having just crushed to Earth via the ending of Halo 2! The gameplay is slick and exactly the same as the other Halo games... the enemy AI is still as cunning as before, with the brutes trying to out flank you, running for covering, firing from covering, etc. The reason i gave this 4 stars, I just didn't feel there was ENOUGH difference between Halo 2 and 3, nothing that different, other than the Brutes taking over from the Elites, and perhaps the reintroduction of a old weapon from Halo. Mulitplayer adds up for the lack of disappointment of the story mode. The awesome 'matchmaker' system is back. I really enjoyed the story, the ending of the game was left open for future... perhaps the original Forerunners will return, or worse!

I love the Halo series it;s the only reason I went for the old xbox over a PS2 and again the main reason I went for a 360 and not a PS3 (some thing I am begining to regret as my 360 has been back to MS twice) but like other reviews I was a little disapointed with this one. Now don't get me wrong it is a great game but I just expected so much more from the last in the series. It's a little on the shortside and the lower levels of difficulty are way to easy. The hardest level is just about right for single player, challenging enough to keep you wanting to try again when you die but not so hard it frustrates the hell out of you. However once you've got a playing companion playing on co-op mode, even on it's hardest level halo is still just to easy. Now the multi-player game is where this one shines and I would say that unless you have an Xbox live account Halo 3 prob isn't worth the cash to buy it. Just rent, play the game on heroic complete the single player game in a few hrs and in 2 days you can pop this one back in the post. Even in Multi-player there are still some issues with not to many maps and some of the games (like kill the VIP) being a bit repetative. Another shocker is that the new maps just released for down load are gonna cost you extra. another example of the Big boys cashing in on us gamers,In summery, It's good but Halo simple isn't king of the first person shooter any more!!!

After all the hype about Halo3 I expected a lot more from it, although the storyline is as gripping as ever it took me just 2 days to complete which worked out about 6 hours overall. Legendary as well. Gears Of War is a lot better, especially online.
