It are good game with good co-op, causes happy face :)
A customer from Leeds , 07/03/2008
Single player with the AI is impossible due to the limited control, trying to tell the AI team mate to move around while you're holding the aggro is impossible as you can only tell them to move forward. If you didn't like the repetitive nature of Assassins Creed stay clear of this game. The single player campaign is around 5 hours long and if you use the CO-OP feature you'll complete the game in less than 4 hours (yes it's really that short).Overall the game feels like yet another rushed out of the door EA game with too many scripted moments. The multiplayer *might* keep you playing for a few weeks.

Gears of war...this ain't...but still an 'ok' shooter.Nice graphics....mediocre story...mediocre gamplay. Everything been done before and better....only touch i thought was 'ok' was the variety of guns and upgrades for them.Definatly a renter....don't buy.
A customer from London , 06/08/2008
Army of Two is a fairly decent shooter. You play one of two merc's on a mission to fight terror for big bucks with bigger guns..in big locations...nice!To keep yourself alive you-and your partner-rely on Aggro (a system that makes enemies focus on whoever is dealing more damage) allowing you-or your partner-to creep around and blast them in the area of choice...this is fun!The campaign is not long but its a hell of a lotta fun.The weapon system is fun too...the game has some awesome guns(aug/felon/P90 etc)and literally pimping them out adds bags of...whats the word again..?..oh yes, fun! However there are a few small grips...hitting anything is a bit hard, normally 10-20 bullets should take down a hostile which can be frustrating at times...swopping characters just can't be done, which lessens the overall enjoyment.Overall its a really fun and engaging game...recommended!Graphics 8(big explosions, big characters and detailed environments)Sound 8(good voice acting and nice special effects explosions)Presentation 8(menu's are easily accessable and the story engaging)Gameplay 7(fun but flawed)Overall 7.5(single player short and sweet...gamerpoints easy 840...nice!)

I THOUGHT THIS WAS A REALLY POOR GAME, I'M GLAD I ONLY RENTED THIS GAME COS I WOULD HAVE BEEN UPSET WITH THE VALUE FOR MONEY IT WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME.STICK TO GEARS I'M AFFRAID.
Merik from Pontypridd [Highly rated reviewer] , 30/04/2008
It is important to note that the 5 stars that I have given are dependent on playing this game with a friend in co-op mode.Army of TWO is a highly enjoyable over the shoulder shooter that brings together ideas from other games and knits them together make a very entertaining game.Following two soldiers, who being fed up of life as a common soldier join a private security contractor and become mercenaries for hire, carnage ensues. The plot of this game is not that complex, but it is told well. You may not be surprised by anything that happens, but that dosn't stop it from eing good fun. the game sends you a series of missions round the world that mean the environment and enemies change, keeping things interesting. The style of story and presentation of missions like this, I found very reminiscent of Soldier of Fortune. The actual gameplay is similar to Gears of War but is much better. You have the same over the shoulder view point although unlike Gears of War I never had a problem seeing round by man. There is a similar use of cover , when you get wounded your team mate has to come and patch you up, excpet when you are down and wounded you can still shoot from the floor and your team mate must drag you to a safe area to patch you up. You use money from your missions to buy additional weaponry or upgrade and customize the ones that you have. The biggest addition however is the introduction of 'Aggro'. Players of Massivly Multplayer Online games will probably be familiar with the concpet, but for those of you who arn't. Aggro is a measure of how much attention the enemies will give you and there fore who they shall focus theree attacks on. This simple conecpt opens up the co-op game play and makes it truly co-operative game play.I played through Gears of War with my friend in co-op play, it was fun. but although we fought along side each other there was never any real need to co-ordinate our actions. In Army of Two, you really work together, one player drawing their attention, and their fire, to allow the other player to move foward to a flanking position. It does not sound like much but it really makes a big difference to gameplay.Graphically this game does look good, not the best, but good enough. Still images of these game don't realy do it justice, because they don't show movement. The way the enemies move about, and particularly how they die looks brilliant. I have found in games recently that too often wherever you shoot someone they more or less die the same way. In Army of Two when you shoot a guy in the feet it blows his legs out from under him. Shoot him in the face and he'll somersalt backwards. Not super-realistic, but super stylish. When I played Gears of War with my friend, we completed it and said 'that was fun'.When I played Army of Two with the same friend we completed it, and immediately started it again.Bad points, The Single player mode is bad, the AI just dosn't work. The game is also a bit short. but when your talking about renting a game that's not a problem. So if you have a friend to play with, this game is a must, rent it and play over a weekend. I did and I plan to play it a lot more.
indy4212 from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 15/07/2008
I wouldn't recommend this game if you were looking for a great storyline, memorable characters or lots of replayability. I would, however, recommend it if you want some enjoyable split-screen co-operative play with a friend. As the title suggests, you play one of two elite mercenaries who infiltrate various locations and kill/blow up/rescue whatever needs killing/blowing up/rescuing. The linear mission structure finds you globetrotting across several good looking locations that just happen to be teeming with bad guys bent on killing you while the main plotline erupts around you via your radio and through regular cutscenes. You can play single player (with the game controlling your partner) or find someone to play with online but I found it to be more fun playing split-screen with a friend. The emphasis on co-op play introduces a number of nice set-pieces from helping your partner reach an inaccessible area to co-op sniping for simultaneous take downs or adopting a defensive back to back stance with your partner when you get surrounded.Overall it makes for more than ten hours of entertaining shooting, ducking for cover, chucking grenades and completing co-operative objectives with a solid control system, varying levels of difficulty and co-operative gameplay tactics. Definitely worth renting.

DefJam from England [Highly rated reviewer] , 18/10/2008
Let me start off by telling you about the gunfights. The hit detection is a bit poor at range, and the AI is a little stupid. However, your AI partner is very intelligent. (Unless you are wounded, then he sits there like a jackass getting shot trying to heal you) He will often fire at the most threatening targets first and will if told, circle around a turret and distract him allowing you to get a free shot in. The weapon customizability is just... wow. You can add huge shields onto the front of the smallest guns and you can platinum and gold plate EVERYTHING, even the Minigun. (Which looks awesome as all the turret barrels are diamond studded)Definatly a rent, with a money system that allows you to carry over and a hell of a lot of guns and upgrades it has alot of replay value. Quite possibly a buy, it would have been for me but too man games coming out at the mo.
neevie24 from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 24/03/2008
ARMY OF TWO, when the developers for this game said it was coming out they also said that is was not really meant to be played on your own, preferably you had a partner to play with whether online or sat next to you. Definitely an original idea but not executed very well. The game is very repetitive in what you to do, but does offer some unique game play eg: back to back and boost your partner up. The AI for the game is unbalance, enemies are ruthless and stupid in attacking you whereas your AI partner can not shoot accurately and you are very limited to telling him what to do.The story is average but easy to tell what is going to happen from far off. Very cool the upgrades that you can buy for you weapons and gear so that is enjoyable.Have not played the online version of the game but looks and sounds unique and exciting, whether that is delivered though is another thing.GOOD CONCEPT, GOOD STYLE BUT FELL SHORT ON GAMEPLAY.
nikc45 from Telford [Highly rated reviewer] , 24/04/2008
gears of war wannabe , entertaining enough. But gets repetitive quickly
Simon from England [Highly rated reviewer] , 31/03/2009
This game is boring, well that is until you start playing with a friend, the experiece changes completely and you start having fun. It isn't a great game but I enjoyed playing it. So if you have a dedicated friend to play it with don't hesitate just pick it up and play.
RentboyEvil from Llanarth [Highly rated reviewer] , 30/05/2008
I had the game for two weeks, not because I enjoyed it, but because I thought if I kept trying the game it would grow on me as Gears had done. WRONG...... I can't put my finger on why I didn't like the game... It has all the correct ingredients but it just didn't work for me.Often confusing. Mostly tedious.
damon from Berwick-upon-Tweed [Highly rated reviewer] , 26/04/2008
This game has many good points and only one bad point in my opinion. The good points are:the story line- the story line is fun, exciting and really unexpected once you proceed through the game. The gameplay- the gameplay is simple to catch up on and there are many ways to kill the enemy which will bring a smile to your face. The graphics- the graphics are well produced, well detailed and looks good to the eye.The bad point! this game is really short it takes around 4-6 hours to complete but maybe take twice the time if you wish to gain all the achievements available which are relatively quick and easy to get. This game is definately worth the rental!!!
Midnight from Croydon [Highly rated reviewer] , 17/04/2008
As my title suggests I was not impressed with this game. There are serious design flaws, for example, if one character is incapacitated after being given a leg up to a ledge, the other character is unable to climb up to heal them. This character then dies and it is game over. There are also times when the checkpoints take you too far back, which becomes tedious. The easy level is acceptable in difficulty, but the difficulty jumps exponentially at the normal level to far beyond what I would consider normal. A friend and I went online together as a team to fight other online players via Live!, a nice feature, or at least it would be if we hadnt sat in the lobby for 10 minutes waiting for someone to join. In the end we gave up as it would seem that not enough people are playing this online. My recommendation: Rent it, dont buy it. In fact unless you are a big Run N Gun fan, dont even rent it.
A customer from yorkshire , 17/03/2008
Whagt can I say. Went out and instantly purchased this title. Even better than we expected.
Venom1970 from Blackburn [Highly rated reviewer] , 16/03/2008
Original idea the main story line is good the multiplayer leaves a bit to be desired think splinter cell multiplayer rip off hence 4 stars. You could do a lot worse worth a rent.
malefox from Hampshire [Highly rated reviewer] , 24/02/2009
This games is an average shooting game, it doesnt really grip you to continue to play, nice co-op playthrew brings some brownie points back, and lots of weapons and achievements.Good solid rental title but dont buy unless cheap.got 3 achievements in first hour but took 2 days to get to 500gs.Guide here : http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/army-of-tw o/guide/

Greatest Story Mode Game Ive Ever Played, Worth Getting... Online Is Ok. Lack Of Players In Each Game Though
bravotwozero007 from King's Lynn [Highly rated reviewer] , 16/09/2008
enjoyed this game quite alot, loads of action and fast paced game, my only gripe was that the ai is a bit sloppy, ask your team mate to do something and he doesnt!! apart from that if you liked kane and lynch you'll enjoy this
StarFoxes from Gerrards Cross , 28/07/2008
ok, the single player on this REALLY isn't great, the AI is horrible and the gameplay is nothing more than average.HOWEVER!!!!!the co-op mode is great!so if there is an army of two in your house looking for an FPS, then go for this but don't bother if you're in it for the single player
mASON66 from Leyland [Highly rated reviewer] , 16/05/2008
If you like to play solo or with just one friend, this is the game for you, the graphics are sharp, and fast. I did find the control interface a little cumbersome at first, probably because i am an avid rainbow six player. But after a while i got fairly used to them.In my opinion this is a very playable game for beginners and advanced alike. I will look forward to playing it through when i get another copy, as the copy I had was scratched and the console rejected it repeatedly. It is however good enough for me to have asked for another copy.EnjoyBrother Mason
SaintGerbil from London , 07/05/2008
Its short but fun, this is what renting titles is all about. You play one of two private military contractors through a series of 6 missions, with an almost ludicrous body count in each. The story is rather predictable how ever and I don't think they make the most of having two people. It does play a bit with a few taboo subjects like suicide bombers and there is the option to 'pimp' your weapons with a gold shine or similar. Which makes it come off as a bit tasteless. If you your a regular gamer this will last you 2 weeks if your 'hardcore' which thankfully I'm not you can probably get most of the achievement's in a week. Its also a title I would probably put on my list again in a few months or so.
bigsy123 from Huddersfield , 02/04/2008
Wasnt sure what to expect from Army of two similar to kane and lynch perhaps ??.Not at all completely different genre, Army of two is excellent, graphically it truly is next gen/HD and customizable weapons with cash earned during missions.BELIEVE THE HYPE one the best titles i have played to date on 360 by far.
electrobooks from Crawley , 01/11/2009
This is a good game to enjoy an afternoon or two with but thats about as far as it goes. The graphics are good and clear and gameplay is fairly fast paced. Its not particularly hard and you can just run at enemies and gun them down through most levels. Its an easy few gamerpoints but thats as far as it went for me.A definate rental but not a keeper.

Now this a game that I enjoyed very much.Great story, great characters and a variety of weapons that you can upgrade and even pimp out.The only real downside is that it wasnt long enough because it only contained 6 missions. Can't wait for the second one

stormer85 from Chichester , 22/07/2009
i got the demo on xbox live and was really looking forward to taking on the campaign with other members online but unfortunatly i could never find anyone, either versus mode or in co-op campaign and was very dissapointed in this respect!apart from this minor hiccup, once i started playing the campaign i was hook, army of two has a great storyline, immersive play and great graphics.if your an achievement junkie then id say about 5-6 hours of play will get you 90% of them but there's a few that would take alot longer to get.overall an awsome game but due to not being able to play online im giving army of two a four star rating!
starkingfive from Newcastle , 11/07/2009
There are some really unfair reviews on this game. I can't comment on the length of the game as I've not completed it yet (although I don't think I'm far off) but the graphics, game play and AI are all excellent. The 3rd person controls are nice and easy and controlling your partner is straight forward. Anyone who says they struggle to send there partner out whilst they stay back and cover isn't playing it right! The fun is in going out and flanking the enemy yourself. It also has some nice extras like back to back and aggro.EA are trying to do something different here and although it hasn't quite got the polished results of Gears Of War or Medal of Honour it really isn't a bad game. And the story isn't that bad, it's just we're all getting so use to the signs to look out for in the twist of a story line that it's hard for writers to fool us any more!If you like a straight forward shooter with some different-to-the-norm extras this is for you. Just switch your brain off and have fun!
MoaningHunter from Sutton , 11/05/2009
i really enjoyed this game from start to finish. the campaign, the weapons and the characters. only thing not living up to this is the online which is a bit limited finding people and thus getting $1,000,000,000 online in ranked matches. if u get past this then a must buy!
CyberAly from Cambridge , 10/04/2009
Army of Two is worth a rental because of it's interesting partner system. You can use the D-Pad to instruct your partner on whether to move forwards or pull back, and whether to do things aggressively or passively. This comes in handy in parts of the game, but it's not really used to it's full potential. The story's a bit sub-par, you control these two guys who are soldiers working for a private military company. Because of this, the story mainly centres around manipulation on the part of the heads of the company. It's kind of interesting but not that game's strong point.I didn't even try the online multiplayer because I couldn't get into a game, nobody was on. I'm very glad I didn't buy this game because I completed this game on the day I received it and sent it back the next morning. Very very short but fun while it lasts. An interesting rental for sure, but don't buy it.
Scarbunny from Isle of Man , 25/03/2009
I'll preface this review with a small disclaimer I didn't play online and didn't have a Co-Op partner beyond AI so my experience is based purely on the single player aspect of the game. This game is short, 6 levels totalling around 6-7 hours play time, the controls adequate but a little sluggish in some of the more frenetic fire fights, the story, what there is of one, is serviceable but predictable. The graphics are impressive and the Co-Op is implemented very well especially the 'Agro' feature. However the game has a few serious flaws. The friendly A.I can be amazingly stupid at times so much so that its failings were the cause of many of my in game deaths. In the event that you are incapacitated in game your buddy will run over drag you to safety and heal you up, or at least that's the theory, the majority of the time I found my partner would run out to get me drag me a few foot and proceed to try and heal me with no cover having the heal animation reset every time he took a hit leading to our eventual deaths. Another issue is that your AI partner has very little in the way of strategy, for example, if you place your partner in the hold position/aggressive stance he will stay exactly where he is if he could cover you better by moving over a little he won't, normally resulting in him being flanked and incapacitated. I understand that these flaws are easily avoidable by not being a miserable anti-social hermit like me. The other place this game falls down is the writing which has me slightly perplexed, I cant quite work out if the writers were going for serious manly action or camper than Christmas self aware humour. Either way the game falls into an awkward middle ground. The story revolves around the two big butch men on the front cover leaving the army to join a PMC, because some how in the future foreign armies can wipe out whole platoons of state military but when faced with two men in masks some how lose the ability to fight perhaps due to being incapacitated with laughter. All pretty standard stuff but mixed with some of the choice quotes (my favourite being 'I'm gonna cut out your intestines and use them as leg warmers') and the ability to show your partner appreciation (a feature that is both superfluous and strangely homoerotic) hint that the writers were trying for stupid jock humour over a mature portrayal of war. Maybe if I was 16 again I would be so enthralled in the complex story of conspiracy and betrayal I wouldn't notice, but I'm not and so it came across as puerile and slightly silly. Although it has its flaws it is still fun, and as long as you don't go into the game expecting anything more then a few levels of shoot'em up action with some tongue in cheek dialogue then you'll be pretty happy.
dan0000017 from Worthing , 25/03/2009
I think the co-op gameplay in this is really good. Its alot better if you play over xbox live with someone you know instead of someone you dont. That way you can actually properly communicate which is massively needed. Definitely a good game to get. Just not massive replay value as once you've done the game, it unlocks all of the weapons for you to use so you dont have to really do anything else because its all there. its a good game to go through with a friend though. Oringinal concept of a partnership in battle, most games work on a group or a single fighter. Excellent the gameplay and character banter. Very Interactiver with scenary and props. Definaly a two player. Amazing graffics gives this an awesome 4 stars
beanman from Northwich, Cheshire , 10/03/2009
Amazing game i love shooters and army of two came close to my two top games of all time gears of war 1 and 2, army of two is the same consept as gow fantastic visuals and graphics as u can expect from the 360 there is alot of action through out the game the only downfall is that the game is alittle short, id give it 4 out of 5

was quite a good game. good use of upgrades on weapons, good controls.
diggles from Hull , 26/02/2009
I played this with a mate and then on my own and on your own is crap. Decent gameplay and good story.
Vicariouslyme from Limavady , 24/02/2009
This game has a great concept with the co-op and lets you interact well with your partner. The shooting in the game isnt great some shots will not register and headshots some times dont count as headshots. The weapon and armour upgrades are great and lets you 'pimp out' your equipment. The story line is what you would expect from a shooter with a few twists. Cut scene graphics are very good, in game not so good. I would 100% not buy this game but for a rent it would be good for the once through.
Junglist999 from UK , 09/02/2009
Nice cut scenes - opportunity to develop critical story line missed.Top graphicsSingle player not a lot of funCo-op excellent.Wish developers incorporated more of the co-op mechanics into games.Res 5 appears to have some Army of 2 in it.
Tom from England , 06/02/2009
I really enjoyed this game- more so than I thought I would. It's excellently fun to play on your own, but I found that the game really shone whilst using the co-op feature; the fact that this game actually requires a tactical approach prevents one player from just barging in like an elephant and abducting all the fun. The graphics are really quite pleasing and the feature that lets you buy weapons with the cash you earn from completing objectives really lets you attatch yourself to the game. The only flaw that comes to mind is that is dosen't have that much of a storyline, for most of the game it's mainly bases around incoming missions.
A customer from London , 03/02/2009
Very good game in co op play but if you play it with the computer as a partner the AI on him is very poorI would say get this game while you can before Electronics Arts do what they always do a spoile a game but taking off there servers which would mean you wouldnt be able to play it online at all, they normally do this when a game has been out 2 years and this game can't be off of that now so get it and enjoy it while you can.
A customer from London , 28/01/2009
The plot is pretty weak, the voice acting is atrocious and the game is littered with cliches. In terms of game play however, its not all that bad. The game works, and the mild tactical elements should keep you interested and on the ball. It plays smoothly, the controls and graphics are nice, and you wont find such an in-depth weapon/mask customization system on any other game. It is a refreshing change from the usual shoot 'em up. I rented this game with the intention of co-op play which is the only way you can play the game properly, how it was intended to be played. Don't rent this game if you don't have any friends.
A customer from Cannock , 28/01/2009
When i first heard of the game i thought what a brilliant concept, yet the execution was lackluster to say the least. Generic, tedious and repetitive gameplay with nothing i could engage with. Only played it for an hour or so but it seemed like i was playing the same level over and over again. Could have been so much more and seems ludicrously outdated even though it was only released last year.
A customer from Coleraine , 27/01/2009
this is not a bad game it looks good and sounds well playing it through hdmi on a 1080p tv. the only down fall is that it gets boring after a while. it is a must for all shooters fans out there.
A customer from Leicester , 25/01/2009
thsi game is quite boring without a co op partner buy however it stiil is a great game !there is endless weapon customazation and a good stroryline. its not the BEST game graphically but it uses gameplay over graphics(what i prefer).
A customer from Norwich , 19/01/2009
Bad controls, bad AI, bad graphics. If they spent less time trying to think of ways to over use the blinding bloom effect and more time on concentrating on sorting the gameplay, this would be worth a shot.Painful.
A customer from Newquay , 09/01/2009
Love the whole co op part of this game - it gives it a unique feel that I am sure you will enjoy - I did.Well worth renting before you buy just to make sure you like it but definately an above average game.
A customer from London , 27/12/2008
3 words B A D.Its only worth a rent maybe, who ever buys this is a mug.
A customer from Hoddesdon , 28/11/2008
i wasnt in the right mood for this game, seemed similar to other shooters, wud b good for co-op, but i was lookin for a good single player game
A customer from Barnsley, south yorkshire , 26/11/2008
I rented this game from another company and i have to say it's a brilliant game. you earn money so you can buy and customise your weapons, the storyline is very involving but the thing that clinched it for me is the 2 player coop split screen storyline mode. it enabled me to join in rather than watching my brother complete it or sharing the controller and taking turns, i hope there will be a sequelOnce we started playing this we couldnt turn it off and completed it in on sitting ( approx 9 hrs gameplay!!!!)EXCELLENT well worth buying
A customer from Wallington , 18/11/2008
Was an excellent co-op title, much better than I initially thought it was going to be. Certainly in the same league as Gears when it comes to co-op gaming both online and off. Bit clunky though if only played single player so it's best to have a buddy to play with. All in all if you're looking for a good game to play through with a friend, this one fit's the bill pretty well.
A customer from London , 01/11/2008

A customer from Brighton , 09/10/2008
I read the reviews for Army of Two but still wanted to try it for myself. I played it on Contractor for the first 6 levels. Then I played it on Professional for levels 7 and 8 that I downloaded from marketplace. Theres no real story line other than your hired mercenaries, then you get stiched up by your employer, then you have to kill your employer. The A.I character is USELESS....he runs straight in and dies and then you have a few seconds to go in, pull him to safetey and revive him. And if you get hurt, he has to do the same. This is where the really game falls down....he usually pulls you somewhere that you are still gettingshot or he is. Or he just pulls you around all over the place and eventually you die anyway! Also the levels seem endless, just when you think it will load up a new level, you get thrown into another situation with hardly any ammo and have to fight through another 100 soldiers! Not a great game for achievement points either as you have to play it on Contractor to get any real points.Overall, I would only rent this game if theres nothing else on your list available.
masachono from Tipton , 29/09/2008
Great game. single player is excellent, even better co-op (as long as you get a desent player) I enjoyed this more than Gears Of War. enemy AI is prettty intelligent too .9/10
A customer from Tamworth , 16/09/2008
This game is terrible, the controls are all over the place, the A.I is terrible, all around poor excuse for a game
martinedwards from Derby , 15/09/2008
Only played this game all the way through in the co-op mode with my brother. We both loved it and only got dissapointed when it finished after a relatively short time.Weapons and upgrades etc were very cool, my brother is obsessed with this kind of stuff. He's the kind that plays Tiger Woods to try out the clothes before he buys them so a solid gold P90 and changeable face masks took him nearly as much time to customise than the game itself took.Gameplay was very straight forward, kill everybody anyway possible. The difference being, there is always more than one way to do it thanks to aggro. when you kill somebody, the AI starts to target you as the greater threat whcih if done properly can allow your partner in crime to completely flank the enemies and attack them from behind. This sometimes failed when they killed a couple of people and the aggro switches to them, who is now vulnerable and too far away to revive if they fall. All in all this game was thoroughly enjoyable and made for a few hours of killing fun.Final thoughts, more games should have full co-op modes available and more hovercrafts.

This game is actually really good, playing with a mate it's awesome working together and creating your own tactics to bring down enemies, its one of the better co op titles out at the moment and you find that there's enough in each level to do so that one player doesn't just get left out. Even in the single player campaign its still very fun and enjoyable to play, your team mates Ai is really impressive especially when you get shot down and he goes over to you and intelligently drags you to cover and heals you. The squad commands are very basic but i think really your Ai partner in this game is just meant to stick by your side and cover your back. The games got good graphics, good voice work and a pretty decent storyline it's also fun to play with solid gameplay and workable controls. The game boasts a huge variety of weapons which you can upgrade and customize as you go along, I don't think there's really any reason why you shouldn't rent this game.

Great 2 player action and the only flaw is that the game is too short....amazing

I wasn't expecting too much from this one as I'd seen some less than complimentary reviews, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The graphics and sound are generally excellent and enemy AI is pretty good - even on the lower difficulty levels, you will be challenged, especially later in the game. There is a large array of guns to buy and upgrade, up to and including the Minigun, always a good thing in any shooter! In common with many games these days, it's pretty short with only 6 missions, but these are generally long and well crafted and there is incentive to go back and get more acheivements e.g. kills using different weapons etc.So why an average score? Probably the main issue is your partner's AI if playing on your own. The Xbox provides good covering fire and handy medical care but can't hit a barn door, which leaves you having to storm forward and do most of the hard work. Obviously this isn't a factor playing co-op with a friend unless they're a bit rubbish, so you can probably add an extra star if you know someone else with the game. And overall, there's nothing particularly original here, it's just an enjoyable way to turn off your brain and blast everything in sight.

Started of fun this game, some great game mechanics and so on,but just got very dull to play, theres just something 'missing',graphics were bit ropey too,and gun sounds were wimpy.

I thought this game was going to be for overweight 8-year-old American kids and probably no-one else. Everything I'd heard from both interviews with the laid back developers and real-world war themes mixed with new-age references. [Wikipedia and the Wu-Tang Clan among them] led me to that conclusion.I was wrong. Not only is this a pretty decent game, it also has a pretty decent story [about Military privitisation and its increasing use], a very wide-variety of weapons to kit yourself out with, a nice spin on things with the 'Aggro' system, and some good free downloadable content on Xbox LIVE [2 extra missions, making it 8 in total]It isn't the be-all co-op game I heard it talked about being. You have some simple co-op bits, like a step-jump now and again, a co-op snipe, or one grabbing a shield while the other shoots from behind etc.... but thats about it. You can quite easily play it with the computer AI. [you have both passive and agressive comands for 'regroup', 'advance', and 'hold position']It plays like a cross between Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 in some respects. It is realistic, so you will have to routinely find cover from machine-gun fire or expect to be downed and needing to be revived by your partner alot. The Aggro-system plays a reasonably big role depending on your style of play. The basic premise is that someone can draw fire while the other is relatively forgotten for a short amount of time, which makes sense if you think about it. The bigger or more dangerous the gun [big honkin' machine-gun or sniper-rifle] the faster you draw in aggro. The games one fault is that it is relatively short. Not obscenely short like some other games these days, but about 6-7 hours roughly. The multiplayer is now a ghost town, aswell, unfortunately, so I can't recommend it as a purchase, just a very good rental.

Army of Two is a good game. If you really try with it. The 'Aggro' system is all well and good, but relying on your A.I partner to keep up the heat when you dash in for the kill will be your undoing. In fact your collegue is, for the most part, an idiot. He vaguely obeys your simple orders, but more often than not will just run out and get shot. Some of the co-op moves (back to back, riot sheild) are cool, but it's kind of like putting sprinkles on a burned cake. The story is flimsy at best, something about PMC's and a new government bill. There's a twist in there somewhere, but it's not exactly surprising or really that amazing. And then there's the difficulty. You will find yourself constantly being shot at by people you can't see. Don't worry, the game hasn't glitched. The enemy is just miles away and impossibly accurate. While you, on the other hand, seem to miss everything that isn't 2 feet in front of you, regardless of where the reticule is. Overall, Army of Two should satisfy fans of shooters, but when you could just play Gears of War co-op which is infinately better and less cheesy, why play this?
A customer from London , 05/08/2008
Seems to have same engine as Gears of War, excellent graphics. Game play is good, controls not too bad, even controlling two characters. Gun upgrades make it worth progressing through difficulties. Not too long - enabled me to have a life as well. As usual un-skipable video clips were annoying - especially having completed it on 'novice'.

Yeah this game is deffinatly a full-time co-op, i would advise getting another friend to get it at the same time as the campaign isn't that fun by yourself but it awesome to play with a friend. There is also a map pack out free for download on the marketplace which opens up even more material to play with.

its a really good game you can pimp ur guns out with ur hard earned blood money controls feel good not taxing the brain in gameplay but it is a shooter feels a bit short and sometimes the AI 4 ur team mate is patchy @ times good plot worth the rent

wonderfull graphics nice story and i loved the idea of it.
A customer from Faversham , 08/06/2008
This game looks great, the controls work well and it's fun to play. The story is nothing special and the game is quite easy on the medium difficulty. It is fun to play but, there isn't really much of a challenge although, it may be more of a challenge on the hardest difficulty. It seemed quite a short game, taking about 7 hours of play to complete on medium difficulty. The combat system works really well and is easy to get to grips with after going through the 'tutorial' levels. There are a good variety of weapons although, there isn't really any need to buy many of them - whichever has the highest balance of damage and accuracy is worth the money, as is upgrading them.Well worth renting if your looking for a combat game with some nice features but, not if you want a great storyline or long single-player campaign.

This was a really good game the game play and story was well done. only thing that is a bad point is its not very long game, but other than that i would say get it

Well, what can i say.WOW.Having had 2 other FPS shooting games sent through as well as this one i was expecting this title to be the weaker of the 3.I was wrong, what a excellent title this is.it is a more complex contolled game but well worth trying to remember the button configuration while playing. And being able to Pimp Your bought Guns is a nice touch, sound great, graphics great hopefully a long game which is great so on the whole a great game.Rent or even better this is a definate BUY.
A customer from Southsea , 28/04/2008
Firstly, this is a good game for points, I reached 865 in a weekend. Most of the points are just about numbers of kills with different weapons. So a good rental from this point of view. The game itself is only really fun in coop with a friend though. Otherwise this game is average to poor in every other department. Bad storyline. Repetitive gameplay. Levels are dull (apart from aircraft carrier). Graphics are very average in game - with great cut scenes.I completed the game on easy mode playing with the AI in about 4 hours. The reason I did it on easy is because the only tactic that seems to work with the AI is have him take aggro and you sneak around and take people out. Try it the other way round and you will get annoyed with the AI's inept nature. This made it dull and repetitive.I then completed it on normal with my bro on splitscreen in about 5 hours. This was much more fun as you are constantly talking tactics and who is going to draw fire.Another review here is right when they say the most fun is the array of weapons you can buy and the upgrades you can make to them. One other point - no one seems to play online or the servers are not great as I only managed to get 3 games online after sitting in lobbys for about 30 mins each time.
A customer from London , 26/04/2008
Very poor game - graphics, camera, AI... Would be easier to say what WAS good - because there isn't anything!Refers only to single player campaign.
Splint07 from Portsmouth, England [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/04/2008
Army of Two bring an amazing single player storyline to a well created game built around superb graphics and gameplay. Adding in features such as Aggro 'Agression' and blind firing, even congradulating and discipline to your partner. Co-Op goes to a higher rating, as it adds even more fun than what it was! I've completed this game on easy and professional and even completed it on easy and professional with my partner. A top quality game. Definately worth the rent :)
Dav from London [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/04/2008
Looks good, but is far too fiddly. The developers have tried to do too much with this game instead of just making it fun to play - it isn't. Rent rather than buy, and it'll be back in the post next day.GREAT that some proper split-screen coops are still coming out for the 360, but this was a big disappointment.
A customer from Nottingham , 24/04/2008
took me 4hrs 30 to complete so very short but online co-op is quality.
biker1559 from Weymouth [Highly rated reviewer] , 20/04/2008
After playing the demo of this game I was lookig forward to playing the full game and I wasn't disapointed. Apart from a couple of little game play issues this game is great fun to play, I'm not a great one for online play but I did have a go and that was just as good. Well worth playing.
MajorHallihan from Maidstone , 27/03/2008
a fantastic game, good storyline. good graphics, good weopan upgrade system and handles well. the only problem with this game is the multiplayer which really is a letdown and if your looking for acheivements then like most titles your going to have to put up with that for the extra gamerscore, but apart from that flawless, but best played with a friend.
sionyboy from Cardiff , 01/05/2009
Let's not beat around the bush here; Army of Two clearly has aspirations to be a Gears of War clone, and there is nothing wrong with that. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery after all. But what amazes me is that Gears laid the framework for co-op third person shooters back in 2006, but yet in 2008 EA still manage to miss the target.Firstly there are the characters who are just horribly one dimensional and have all the wit and charm of a mouldy potato. Gears plays up to the 80s action flicks most 20-something gamers grew up on. But where Gears of War tries to be the Arnie of the action genre, Army of Two is stuck with Steven Seagal. The writing is awful, the characters are cliched and ultimately I didn't care about Rios and his 'witty' comebacks or Salem and his conspiracy theory hunches (because you'd have to be an idiot not to see where the story is taking you. He merely acts as a narrator for the braindead). But the biggest problem is the AI itself. Now if you have a human companion to play the game with you might have more luck than I did, but ultimately all games should be playable single player so that's what I'm going on. Firstly the friendly AI is poor, you can give your partner directions on how to play but this boils down to either;a) Hide and do nothingb) Go nuts, run out and shoot everyone, get shot down yourselfThere is no middle ground. But it doesn't really matter as the best thing to do is stick him in 'cannon fodder' mode and kill everything yourself. Then there is the enemy AI which is downright confusing. Ultimately every area consists of a door opening, a wave of enemies bursting through the door and taking up positions to attack you. But they seem to choose such bizarre cover spots, to the point where they burst in the room and will run around aimlessly looking for the most awkward spot to hide before attacking, leaving you trying to aim at several soldiers running around the room like headless chickens.Army of Two is not a terrible game, but is let down by the bad AI, repetitive boss fights and convoluted co-op options which is meant to hold the players hands in the tasks they undertake, but essentially ends up smothering you with needless additions.
