This is such a fun game, from the moment you get the glaive it just keeps getting better. Throwing it at your enemies and chopping there limbs off and hearing them cry out in anguish is a lot of fun, you also get the ability to guide the glaive midflight using the 6 axis to get that unsuspecting foe behind the pillar too scared to come out of hiding. The graphics are good and the shooting and cover system works well. My only complaint about this game is that the story could have been a bit better. There were parts that i felt could have been explained a bit better which was the only reason i didnt give this 5 starsOverall this is a great game which can be completed in about 10-15 hours, a definte must rent

Fantastic game. only thing that annoyed me was certain parts seemed to go on forever, but not in a good way...at points i just wanted to reach a cinematic, to get to the next part of the storyline because i had been running through the sewers for what seemed like hours and didnt seem to be getting anywhere. Apart from that its fantastic, good storyline, limited but decent amount of weapons. With the Glaive and the powers you gradually earn there is plenty of ways to kill the enemy :P Rent or buy this game now!

Dark Sector is a underdog game, whenever i seen the traliers for it, i said it looked like Resident evil 4. And true it is resident evil 4 with gears of war add on's. Now the difference between Dark Sector and Resident evil 4 is that Dark Sector gives u new additions to your glaive basically every chapter. Meaning that dispite the full on ripp off of ressy 4 it makes u want to play it, to use these new additions. There are 10 easy chapters, u can complete it within a few days like i did. Definately for people who love Resident evil games, this is a nice new change and is well worth a rental

some people say the gameplay is like gears of war but that is setting its hopes up to high but is ok. moving and sprinting can be fustrating but the cool blade thing growing out of your arm is pretty fun to play around with espiacally when it goes into slow motion and you see limbs and heads comeing clean of. other than that though theres not much else good about the game except from the cool boss battles with giant mutated monsters. so theres some good core elements in the game but it hasent been perfected and in all the game feels very unfinished. it could of been great but they missed out on some basic components that make a game amazing hense the 3 stars. you should give it a rent and see how you fell about it but youve been warned!

Very similar to gears of war in terms of gameplay mechanics, but darker in tone and even a little scary in places. (definately to be played in the dark with headphones on) Good difficulty balance means you don,t get stuck on a level and the game progresses at a good pace. If you played and enjoyed gears of war you will definately like this and if you have,nt then give it a whirl, you won,t be dissapointed.

perhaps over-rated is a little harse graphically this game is superb even if some of the bad guys look like the control officers from monsters inc (LOL) but for a game that is supposed to be full of fresh ideas this has been done to death although for 3rd person fans its worth a play its just after sitting with this game for a few hours your still not sure what its about and you don't feel like your acheaving anything, i've given this a 3 star rating over a 2 purely because the feel of the game is intense and it is quite fun to fling the the glaive (slightly hippacritical maybe but what can i say its a frisby thats sharp)

Well its a short bit of fun. You wont find yourself buying it afterwards but you will enjoy it. Go on rent it. Slow motion blade kills are fun and amusing for longer than you might think.
Gregwah from Hove , 05/04/2009
Mmm I am undecided. Started off realy enjoying this but actually started to get a little bored of it! However the slow motion kills are well Bang Tidy and the blade you get to play with is fun! It's deffo not the worst game I have played

I am glad I rented this. I thought something was wrong with my set-up when the first level played though in shades of grey. Soldier v soldier using a cover system, it felt like a pale imitation of Gears of War. Then things turn evil and thankfully the greys were gone. You get to throw a Frisbee(Glaive) that cuts off legs and arms in a very satisfying manner. It almost looks like there is a plot coming. Unfortunately not. There are some quality enemies and bosses and some annoying ones like the shielded enemies. There isn't really allot too it. Just enjoy chopping enemies up over a long weekend. Wouldn't buy it but it makes a fun rental.

A customer from London , 18/03/2009
This game is decent, but not all that. Most of the chapters are quite similiar, but the game is worth playing just to past a short amount of time.

poor game all round story a little bland and the landscape never changes graphics poor for a ps3 title and a bit confusing in parts

I keep getting lost. No maps or compass to guide you about where you need to go next.

rubbish, terrible game. feels so unfinished. Buy fallout, resistance, COD, anything but this

A hard game to review this. In some areas such as graphics, atmosphere, cut scenes and the wonderful glaive it's brilliant. These are let down by the fact the guns seem boring now that the glaive has joined the party and it is pretty much walk a bit, clear an area of baddies then walk some more, it is very repetative. This takes it down a peg from true greats like bioshock etc. But that lovely glaive.

this game was an unexpected surprise, graphics were good ,gameplay excellent ,Boss fights challenging, overall a good rental title.

For me this game wasn't good. Some of the graphics were good but they didn't generally make use of the full capabilities of the PS3. The story line isn't great and quite often you forget the reason as to why you're doing what you're doing. The glaive while initially fun gets boring very quickly. There are plenty of annoyances with the game too, the weird perspective that you are thrown into when you sprint, or that you can only really look round righthand corners safely. I was looking forward to playing this and it turned out to be a real disappointment, maybe worth renting to see if you feel the same but definitely don't buy, there are far, far better games out there. Give Assassin's Creed a go.

GRAPHICS WERE EXCELLENT BUT WASN'T REALLY MY KIND OF GAME SO INSTEAD OF CARRYING ON I SENT IT BACK AND RENTED ANOTHER GAME.
Renhoek from Leeds [Highly rated reviewer] , 03/07/2008
the game is very short, the day it arrived i finished it and sent it back. the way it plays is just like gears of war but no way as fun. graphics are very good but lacks alot in story, the only thing i new through the game was i had to stop this virus outbreak. decapertating people with his boomarang knife thingy is cool but needs more gore!
CypherUK from Stevenage [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/06/2008
Dark Sector was a game I heard very little about until about a week before it was released. It looked interesting, a solid title worth trying out. I bought it after watching a few video reviews. I got stuck into it straight away and it kept hold. While GTA4 is the only game I've sat down and played for several hours continuously, Dark Sector was so good I played through it more than once. You play as an agent who gets infected and gains the ability to grow a bladed disc called the Glaive out of his hand. He also gains new abilities along the way but the Glaive remains the main weapon and what a great weapon it is! With full sixaxis support for controlling it in flight there are quite a few puzzles inbedded in the game requiring you to use what you've learnt and think on your feet as they're not sectioned off of the action, by that I mean you won't walk into a room and have a puzzle in front of you and no enemies, the puzzles are mixed right into the action. For example, you may have to charge the Glaive with electricity by guiding it through a small gap in a fence to hit a power box while a mob of angry mutants come at you.Dark Sector allows you to not only use the Glaive as a weapon but when you throw it you can still use a firearm while it's in flight. So if you try to decapitate someone and they duck you can finish them off with a few rounds while the Glaive circles the room and returns to you hand. The multiplayer element is good too, though this is primarily a singleplayer game, so the multiplayer isn't really anything to write home about. With two modes; standard team deathmatch where one member of each team takes on the role of the enfected Hayden Tenno with the Glaive and powers and the other members of the team are standard foot soldiers. The other mode is a Survival/Deathmatch mode, where one person becomes the infected Hayden and must take on everyone else who are standard soldiers. Whoever kills Hayden becomes Hayden.Overall I give Dark Sector 4 stars! While being a linear story game the gameplay makes up for it and becomes addictive. The multiplayer will sustain you for a little while but isn't up to scratch to hold people for any true length of time. An atmospheric, gritty, 3rd person shooter that reminded me of Soul Reaver 2 more than Gears of War as many have said elsewhere. With some epic boss battles Dark Sector brings back the traditional story game and adds in some gore and seperated limbs, the result is a game worth at least a rental!

PS3 gets an average 7/10 gears of war clone and pretends its an original game.
