Gregory's Girl
on DVD
(1980)
Starring: John Gordon Sinclair, Dee Hepburn, Clare Grogan
Director: Bill Forsyth
Certificate:
It was only halfway through this film that I remembered it was supposed to be a comedy...I think I laughed once!? And it contained some of the worst music I have ever heard in a film. 'Soft jazz' interludes? What a waste of an opportunity to create a brilliant, memorable soundtrack. I agree with other reviewers that it felt like an episode of Grange Hill. Not a feature-length version though, just a reeeaallly loooong episode - the first hour could have been condensed into about 20 minutes without losing anything. The pace started to pick up after the first hour and there were a couple of charming moments, but then it ended. Oh well.
