    As a fan of both the book's writer Jose Saramago and the film's director Fernando Meirelles, my short review might have a slight touch of bias. However, to me it is not about sci-fi or an outbreak, but it shows us quite realistically the fragility in which the structures of human societies live in, regardless of where and when, as we take it all for granted. Beautifully filmed, good photography and a wonderful cast, this film will not please hollywood format movie fans as it never had such intention.
