Heaven Can Wait
on DVD
(1943)
Starring: Gene Tierney, Don Ameche, Charles Coburn
Director: Ernst Lubitsch
Certificate:
In a more indulgent mood I might have described this as aimiable nonsense. The 'characters' are cardboard cut-outs (Gene Tierney pretty and vacant, Spring Byington twittering away as usual, Charles Coburn as gruff but of course with a heart of gold, Don Ameche bland to the point of invisibility), the dialogue unmemorable. Not a very good film - infact, utter tosh. Two stars solely for the decor, costumes and colour.
