    This is a quietly enjoyable film. There is a lot of American, folksy wisdom in here as Alvin talks with a hitch-hiking pregnant girl, two bickering brothers and another old man in a bar. Actually, this scene is really very moving as they share memories of their war service in Europe.

    I liked the off-beat story and the characters Alvin meets on his journey to see his brother, Lyle. Lots of silence, background noise, odd close-ups and a fine cameo from Sissy Spacek mark it out as a David Lynch film.   1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
