    LOVED this film. The last dorian Gray I remember was some film made in the 60's about a picture that turns ugly, projecting the effects of living in sin on the soul, whilst the subject of the artwork commits murder and retains his outward youth and good looks.. This film captured the book magnificently. true to storyline, true to character. Sucks you into a world of debauchery and hedonism and keeps you entranced from the very first scene to the very last. Fantastic acting all around, but I loved seeing 'Mr Darcy' as a corrupting inlfluence over young Dorian - Great to see such a classical actor bringing out a side rarely seen - the English Gentleman with whips and chains! The story appealed to my darker side, and probably all our hedonistic desires and fantasies, being very reminiscent of an Eliza Doolittle type aristocratic bet where the downtrodden makes good in the upper echeleons of Victorian society- however, a deal with the devil backfires stupendously and the stakes are even higher as Young Dorian trades his soul for the taste of an extreme lifestyle filled with all the pleasures Man can imagine - and some that he can't!
