About me: I've been awarded my nickname by my children. A title earned by telling them to: go to bed early, tidy up, only 30-minutes on the computer, eat they're tea - "Some time before the end of the next millennium will do", etc, They're still trying to figure out whether there really is a Bad Dad school. We don't watch television at all and judging be how happy our children are, it's a situation they're perfectly happy with. Lovefilm and the local library provides us with plenty of selected viewing.

I'm sure technically it was a wonderful film but did it grip? Did it thrill? Could I watch it to the end without feeling the urge to do the washing up? No.

Can anyone explain to me how some all powerful wizard can forge a vast army of demons, in the very pits of hell, that can be taken on and beaten by hobbits, whose seemingly only capability is to stare into the middle distance looking mildly constipated?

I'm sure the books were fine stuff too, though I've still got the bruise on my forehead where I fell asleep half-way through the first chapter, but you do get the feeling the whole Tolkein popularity is due to a lot of sheep.   1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
