I have no prejudice against foreign language cinema, slow burn films or depressing subject material, but The Lives of others bored the absolute hell out of me.
The performances were excellent yes, the cinematography was great to look at, but it just completely failed to engage me, though that's not to say that I don't see the appeal. If the film had actually gripped me I'm sure that I'd be writing a completely different review than this one; but sadly that wasnt the case!
I say watch it just to make up your own mind, you may end up putting it in your favourite film category for the rest of your lives!
