  I am always a little wary of films based on true stories. For me, the great joy of a wonderful film, book or play is that it works at a tangent to reality - it says something important or provocative or meaningful about life not by simply portraying it 100% faithfully but by transforming it through the filter of the director's/writer's vision. The problem with a true story is it may start out as an inspiration and end up as a ball-and-chain, restricting the film-maker who gets bogged down in the facts of the case and doesn't end up saying anything very significant. And so it is here.... there are some exciting parts and overall it's well-made, nicely paced and brilliantly acted, but - given all that talent - it's not as good as it should have been. Treat yourself - watch The Bourne Trilogy instead.   1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
