Based on the blurb I expected high intelligence combined with action and thriller, instead of the contemplative and sentimental collection of 3 different stories, that are only connected by somewhat novice death notice delivery man.
The stories were predictable and somewhat slow, yet I found them enjoyable too thanks to some quite excellent acting, low key well delivered realism, moments or humour and some great direction. And the overall feel remained refreshing and very watchable.
I have not seen the manga this film is based on so cannot say how much it follows the source material, but regardless I felt that the idea itself could've been taken a lot further. The political ideals behind the plot, 'thought crime' and the organisation behind this was kept much in the background.
However, if I came across this again, I probably would watch it for the second time. The story lingers with you long afterwards.
