Visually stunning, but some burn-out in certain scenes , 12 May 2009

    This is, in the grand tradition of BBC wildlife shows, stunning in sections, with some superb time-lapse sections, in the style of Ron Frike's 'Baraka', and the footage of the snow leopard is particularly amazing for its uniqueness, and the fact that is is beautifully shot. Visually it makes use of the Blu-Ray format well, with wonderful levels of detail but there are some scenes which seem very highly lit or even over-exposed and the result is some burn-out of certain details in those scenes with very high contrast. This marks it down slightly in my book, but the overall impression is one of quality and the gravitas of David Attenborough's narration carries it.
