Jazz as it really is! , 28 June 2008
  • Round Midnight (1986)
Starring: Dexter Gordon,  Francois Cluzet,  Gabrielle Haker
    Director: Bertrand Tavernier

This is probably the best film ever made about 'The Jazz Life'. Dexter Gordon who plays US tenor player Dale Turner, a mix of Lester Young and Bud Powell, has a world weary ennui froms years of playing in 50s racist America. He comes to Paris and with the help of French jazz fan Francis re-discovers the joy of music. Superb film.   4 out of 4 people found this review helpful
