  • Cloverfield on DVD (2008)
Starring: Michael Stahl-David,  Mike Vogel,  Lizzy Caplan
    Director: Matt Reeves

When i saw the trailer to this movie i wanted to see the film straight away. when i heard that it would be shot in the same style as the blair with project i wasnt so sure i would spend a tenner to go see it at the cinema and wait till it came out to rent.

However i was sitting bored one day and decided to go with a friend to watch it at the cinema. AND BOY was a i wrong about having doubts to see this film. From the moment the monster, which look like nothing i ever expected, attacks the city i was on the edge of my seat. The filming style really puts you inside the action and the not so famous cast along with the lack of any background music make for a real tense experience.

Also for a film done in this way i thought that there would be no proper shots to see the monster however the film has some great moments where you see enough of the beast and from those short images tou can paint a picture yourself.

A film also based on a similar thing was godzilla. Im not denying that it was a good film but where it falls short of cloverfield is where it lacks atmospshere and suspense and in the end trying to make you feel sorry for the creature that killed so many people and recked half of new york was the wrong thing to do. But this is not a review of godzilla it is a review of cloverfield and in my opinion one of the best ''monster attcking city'' movies to date.

A definate must see and i cant wait for a sequel!!   5 out of 5 people found this review helpful
