    The dating drama has been done, seemingly, to death, and the situations here are all pretty familiar - a charming but emotionally immature ladies' man torn between a number of different lovers. But oddly, it works.

    This is mimimalist film-making - the dialogue and characterisation are pared to their bare essentials, allowing the excruciating nature of David's tragicomic blunders to shine through. There are no sub-plots and it doesn't aspire to be anything it's not. Steve Mangan is ideally cast, with just the right level of roguish charm and emotional vulnerability.

    Susan Lynch is wooden and unresponsive at times, especially in the first break-up, but I was glad I didn't let this put me off.
