Not one of his Morse's best , 7 April 2008
  • Inspector Morse: Cherubim And Seraphim on DVD
    Starring: John Thaw,  Kevin Whately
    Director: Danny Boyle
    Certificate: PG
I love Morse but this one was a little disappointing. On the up side there is far more revealed about Morse's history and family than any other episode and some of the bonding with Lewis is great (as ever) but there are too many down sides to this episode.

The content is very different being that it is about the 'yoof' of Oxford and inparticular the late 80's rave scene. This is uncomfortable and uncharted ground for Morse as there isn't an Oxford college or even a dreaming spire anywhere in sight. This would all be quite brave if it wasn't for the tendency to focus too much on Morse's ignorence of modern youth culture. Add to this a predictable and fairly dull plot and some of the most wooden acting from extras seen, and you are left with a fairly weak episode in an otherwise outstanding series.
