The Illusionist
on DVD (2006)
Starring: Edward Norton, Rufus Sewell, Paul Giamatti
Director: Neil Burger
Certificate:
It kind of sucked at the same time. I was really looking forward to this for some reason... but as much as it kept me watching - I almost felt like I was wasting time I could have put to a better use. The tricks in the film were much less enthralling as I would have hoped...it sort of felt like watching a 5 year olds magic show with Paul Daniels - I was half expecting Debbie McGee to pop out of a box half way through. The plot though just got confused with itself. The general idea was there enough but they spent so long focusing on the royal bloodline of this one character that I felt like I was back doing GCSE history. It could have been much much worse don't get me wrong - it's entertaining for the majority and certainly isn't a bad film for relaxing at home to...But it could have been 10x better too. And one last thing - For some reason through the entirety of this film I really wanted to punch the lead female...She was just annoying....
