Fuel
on Xbox 360
(2009)
Certificate:
Although many claim this game is very shallow and boring, and that it lacks realism, many fail to realise that this game never intended to achieve that in the first place. Fuel is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, which happens to be the size of Ireland (Guinness World Record for biggest game map), which is a diverse map spanning from desert wasteland to snowtrenched mountains. The races in the game handle very simply, most of the effort being put into holding the trigger and very very occaisionally breaking, but the fun comes in not just passing the AI, but taking a completely different, offroad route to your goal, whatever it may be. The offroad capabilities in this game are superb and can be very rewarding. There is a huge variety of vehicles which are all reasonably customisable, and the variety in the game modes is big enough not to get boring too quickly. The races at the start seem impossibly easy, but towards the mid stage in the game, things can seem rather challenging. If you're looking for a straight out realistic racing game, don't bother with Fuel, but if you want a detailed post-apocalyptic arcade-style racer, which is fun and satisfying to play, then atleast rent it and try it out, as there is very little to lose and much to gain in doing so. Cheers guys. Nick
