Dead Babies
on DVD
Starring: Paul Bettany, Katy Carmichael, Hayley Carr
Director: William Marsh
Certificate:
Who makes this rubbish? Adapted from the Martin Amis novel of the same name, it's evident that this story belongs firmly in bookland, and not in movie world. A bunch of characters who many will find it impossible to relate to, take drugs and get paranoid. Those who do manage to find a connection with them will notice two things: 1) The guy who plays Andy is an awful actor. 2) Despite the pounding urgency of the soundtrack, (which seems to be the major cross-sale, as its availability appears before and throughout all of the other closing credits,) you will not care one jot about what happens to any of them. No surprises, no affection... in fact you will have tuned out long before the closing frames, none of which gave me any cause for thought. Note to self: Write more movies and fewer reviews. The British Film Industry badly needs a kick up the arse. In the meantime, watch something from somewhere else.
