Monsignor Quixote
(1985)
Starring: Alec Guinness, Leo McKern, Ian Richardson
Director: Rodney Bennett
Certificate:
Greene's book is entertaining and develops the characters through a series of events on a journey through Spain, so this should have been a sort of geriatric road movie. Unfortunately it looks like a low budget TV adaptation which moves slowly through a series of static scenes. Fortunately the potential tedium is alleviated by the subtle Greene humour and the fine acting of Guinness and McKern (and one of two of the supporting cast).
