Promising First Half, Disappointing Second Half , 20 October 2008
  • The Deaths Of Ian Stone on DVD (2007)

    Director: Dario Piana

Rented this film after seeing the trailer and it seemed interesting. The basic idea is that Ian Stone is killed every day only to come back again and again. It's a great idea, and for the first half of the film it keeps you wondering what the hell is going on.

The first half is very good, jumping from day to day as he is killed each time, and you start to see things that you know are going to be highly relevant as to what is happening.

Unfortunately things begin to unravel as the mystery is revealed, and suddenly it loses all its interest, and in fact becomes a serious disappointment. The second half of the film drags along and destroys all the initial promise.

It is a shame really as it was a great idea, and it does feel as though someone had this great idea for a concept but didnt know where to take it from there.

Overall, I'd still say watch it if you havent anything better to do, but don't expect 90 minutes of amazement. Morelike 45 minutes of asking 'what on earth is this all about' and then 45 minutes of thinking 'this could have been so much better'   3 out of 3 people found this review helpful
