    If this does prove to be Clint Eastwood's final starring role then he has left on a very big high. He returns to a more gritty and uncompromising character that fans of the 'dollars' trilogy or 'Dirty Harry' will be familiar with.
    The story is of a Korean war veteran who finds all his old neighbours have moved away, and he's now living next door to the same race of people he was fighting against all those years ago. This coupled with the fact that he has just lost his wife, means he starts to feel alienated and alone in his own country. All he has left is his precious 1970s Ford 'Gran Torino'.
    After spending the beginning of the film cursing the new residents, he begins to warm to them and their way of life, especially after a local gang starts making life hell for them. What follows is a revenge thriller like no other, that's littered with quotable dialogue. One of the most entertaining films of the year so far, and one of Eastwood's finest films to date.
