    Having not seen the original I cannot comment on whether it surpasses it in quality, however this version is AMAZING! I sat through the film with a ridiculous smile attached to my face. Even if you don't like musicals this film is sure to put a smile on your face, the cast are amazing, Queen Latifah and Nikki Blonsky shine in their roles and this is easily the best thing John Travolta has done in years (not that hard I know!) However the film does have it's floors, there are some poor song choices in the film, in particular the slower numbers and the number between John travolta and Christopher Walken are cringeworthy. Bearing this in mind the film is a breath of fresh air for a summer that was dominated by male oriented action films! A must have for a pyjama party!
