A dance delight that is a real treat , 12 February 2012
  • Shall We Dance? on DVD (2004)
Starring: Richard Gere,  Jennifer Lopez,  Susan Sarandon
    Director: Peter Chelsom

One of my all-time favourite films. Romantic and charming tale of a long married man played by Richard Gere who loves his wife but yearns to be a dancer. Secretly taking lessons, he meets some wonderful comic characters and the beautiful but sad dance teacher played by Jennifer Lopez. Where other films may have brought them together in an affair, this film never lets you doubt that this man loves his wife, he just wants to dance. Meanwhile his wife, Susan Sarandon, does suspect he is playing away and starts investigating. Great music and dancing, and the sensual tango between Richard and JLo is excellent. However, ladies for me there's nothing to beat the escalator scene - true romantics will love it!

Fantastic performances by the gorgeous and charming Gere, the fiesty yet vulnerable Sarandon and brilliant support from JLo, looking amazing, plus the ever-reliable Stanley Tucci and Richard Jenkins. A real treat.
