Cleese is missed; he is/was the most visually distinctive of the Pythons and probably the funniest of them. That said, there are still sustained moments of hilarity in this truncuated series, particularly the Mr Neutron episode, which piles on the hyperbole to dizzying effect. It would've been interesting to see how this version of Python progressed, but we got the movies instead, which is no bad thing.
