In my opinion this did live up to the hype, although many critics suggest the film was too long, and i agree it is rather long however that does not mean to say that the film dragged and slowed down in any way. Although Heath Ledger's character (The Joker) is played exceptionally well with real sinister realism (who basically steals the show and in my opinion does have a good chance of winning an Oscar) I think Aaron Eckhart's performance is one of his most successful and just purely brilliant. He plays Harvey Dent the man this film is all about. Christian Bale plays the Batman to near perfection and Maggie Gyllenhall is much better as Rachael (Batman's love interest) than Katie Holmes.In addition the explosive set pieces were a joy to behold, and what Christopher Nolan has brought us a huge blockbuster but with intelligence and depth into its characters.
