In terms of magical moments in cinema this film is up there near the top of my favourites list because of the stunning cinematography, sublime soundtrack and outstanding acting but above all because it seemed to speak to me personally!!!
I would love to go off and look for adventure, however I'm not as angry as Chris was, so I couldn't leave my life and family behind as easily as he seemed to!
Yes he may have been naive and stubborn, but he was young and idealistic, so I can fully understand his desire to do what he did.
He was looking for adventure and meaning, which I believe he found at all the places he visited and crazy characters he met. It's just heartbreaking he never made it back home, once he'd learnt to let go of his resentment and that he'd only be happy when he had people to share it with.
If nothing else this film should inspire us to do what we really want and live each day as if it were our last.....perhaps with a few folk to tag along for the ride!!!
I can't recommend this film highly enough and urge everyone to watch it and be moved by this young mans journey!!!
