Starring: Kawaguchi Hiroshi, Nozoe Hitomi
Director: Yasuzo Masumura
Certificate:
A young couple find solace in each other as both of their fathers are in prison for white collar crimes, embezzlement. Getting them out is not easy. It’ll take money and they have some hard choices to make as to how they get that money. The couple feel helpless and partly forget their troubles by indulging in a fun day out. It’s a down-to-earth, slight romance, simply and effectively shot. Corruption, political and social, seems to be the mainstream in society and both actors capture a sense of frustration and a need for someone to believe and hope in. A small and wonderful film. This film shows a subtle side to director Yasuzo Masumura. Not many of his films are available here but ‘Red Angel’ dealing with the horrors of war and ‘Blind Beast ‘ about a sado-masochistic couple, are much more confrontational films.
