Z Channel - A Magnificent Obsession
on DVD
(2004)
Starring: Robert Altman, Vera Anderson, C.L. Batten
Director: Alexandra Cassavetes
Certificate:
Z Channel was one of the first pay cable stations in the USA. The documentary concentrates on its programming chief, Jerry Harvey. Here was a guy who truly loved movies, from cult oddities to classics alike. Unfortunately he loved movies to the point of obsession and this proved to be his undoing... The documentary also takes a look at some classic movies that Harvey was responsible for bringing into the public eye. Film gems such as Oliver Stone's 'Salvador', Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon A Time In America' and Michael Cimino's 'Heavens Gate'. You don't have to be a movie buff to enjoy this but it may end up turning you into one!
