    Having been a big fan of the grindhouse genre, I had hoped with the excellent movie they made from the Machete faux trailer that Hobo with a Shotgun would have been more of the same.

    Unfortunately it falls short of the mark for reasons which are difficult to explain. Sure, it has the splatter, the bad one-liners and the contrived plot development, however they labour far too much on the 'breakdown of society' element to the point of being sour for the sake of it (one scene in particular could have been served just as easily without going as far as it did, this is not to say I was 'offended' so much as it didn't feel in the spirit of Grindhouse to play on your sense of morality as shockingly as it did).

    It set out what it intended to do but never quite got there. Much like the film, they make a point of showing you there's one son who isn't up to scratch and is a disappointment to it's family. Hobo with a Shotgun is that son.   1 out of 3 people found this review helpful
