It’s quite simple – if you want to watch the most original, eerie, expertly crafted and beautifully shot vampire movies in a generation, do not rent Let Me In. Instead you should rent Let The Right One In, the Swedish film on which Let Me In is based (along with the original novel). All the things that make the remake any good are because they are virtually identical to the original (almost entire scenes are carbon copies). All the things that make the remake inferior and surplus to requirements are when they have embellished (often through poor CGI) some of the more vampiric characteristics of the lead female protagonist. Let The Right One In is an excellent character story about the relationship between two children, made complex by circumstances seemingly beyond their control – one of these circumstance (but not the sole) being that the girl happens to be a vampire. Let Me In, on the other hand, is a vampire film with kids in it. Not the same thing. Do yourself and the cause of world cinema a favour and rent the original instead. You won’t regret it.   1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
