(2007)
Starring: Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner
Director: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
Certificate:
As a sequel this works well - following on from the first movie but with none of the original characters in it. This time in centres around Robert Carlisle who is being reunited with his children in an American controlled quarantined section of south London. My over all feeling of this film is its all a bit pointless. It doesn't really add anything to the original story. it has a bigger budget so there are some spectacular set pieces involving a helicoptor and a fire storm - but for me this is where it lost the charm of the original film. The first film had a crippling feeling of isolation, which the sequel does not. the acting is not as good, the direction is not as good and the protagonists this time are children which makes it all a bit unrealistic for me. In conclusion, this film is good as a sequel and still packs the scares and punches - but is not as good as the original 28 days later.
