This is a Comedy/Drama/Thriller/Biography that keeps you hoping for a thread of satisfaction amidst the seemingly pointless internal monologue-style narrative of the main character - Whitacre.

If you hang on in there for more than 30minutes you soon get over that feeling, and see that there is something to all this slow-paced and deliberate story-telling.

Damon sits high on the throne in the palace of whistle-blowing movies, with his performance here. He is convincing in his insistence, calculatory thinking and his cunning. For me, it had the feel of Talented Mr Ripley.

All-in-all, a brilliant movie, with the final 45 minutes really making this a movie to reccommend. I will be looking to read the book which gave birth to this adaptation. It seems hard to believe that this sort of thing actually happened!
