Hi guys as my profile name suggests i love films. Right now i am into anything, especially independent movies and political movies like michael clayton or munich. Don't get me wrong i love the big blockbusters, but the recent ones have left me satisfied as they used to, heck i like armageddon, it is an atrociously plotted movie but the cheesiness i find makes it a must watch.
I love football (soccer) my team is glasgow rangers, i love swimming, table-tennis and chess. Yep i really am a dull guy, but i do love my movies.
My top Tens from the Eighties (56) "As the title, says this is my pick from the decade that was the 80s."

This was one of the most woeful films i have ever had the pleasure of watching. The original mummy adventure was an overall good yarn, with some good performances to boot. the mummy returns was a cash in pure and simple, but it was understandable that the sequel would follow. unfortunately the script was so poor and the performances were too good for the script for the most part. Then came the scorpion king, the rocks first major movie, it bombed at the box office, but was a decent enough film, not great but not as bad as the critics made out. Now comes the next instalment of the mummy. The tomb of the dragon emperor. The background story takes too long to get going, and when the o'connells come around you hope the action would speed up. It doesn't, instead we have an amusing scene of brendan fraser trying to fish, which ends with him shooting the fish one of the best scenes in the entire movie. Maria Bello tries to pick up where rachel weisz left-off and fails miserably especially with her accent. Basically they're bored and have been asked to serve their countries by delivering something to china where johnathan ( a bored john hannah) owns a nightclub, hence giving them an excuse to take this journey. Alex their son (luke ford) is in china digging up the dragon emperor so he can make a name for himself, and in the process falls for Lin who happens to be michelle yeoh's daughter. Before you know jet li is awakened and the o'connells have to save the world again.
This film lacks direction, lacks talent and while it tries to have a sense of humour it just falls short of being abismal. Rob Cohen has had in my view point two successes, the skulls (joshjua jackson movie vehicle) and the fast and the furious. Those movies you felt gave him a good platform to build on clearly he's demolishing rather than constructing his career. The screenplay by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar is woeful, clearly they are better at spotting talent than writing as smallville and one tree hill prove. The acting is just poor Maria Bellos accent is just annoying from the off, and you would feel that Universal would have been better hiring someone who is actually british, Claire Forlani, Kate Winslett and Kate Beckinsale, all would have done a better job because they wouldn't need an accent. John Hannah is his usual reliable self, he tries to ground the action with a sense of self-preservation, unfortunately, this movie is one movie too many for his character as you would think he would have grown a pair, as well as grown up. Then there's Alex (the pitifully wooden Luke Ford) there's nothing likeable about his character, and the fact that he actually looks like he's 30 rather than 18 or is it 21 (remember it's been 9 years since alex was the annoying freddy boath) which doesn't help. The asian actors do well with their roles only michelle yeoh's character is given any heart, while Jet Li is clearly cursing himself for getting his butt kicked by fraser and ford.
My tip would be to avoid this movie at all costs and just watch the original or the scorpion king if you're after a decent action adventure.
