Jim Carrey is as outrageously fabulous as ever in this love story with a difference...

Great acting from the two leading men!By a customer from Beddington , 18 Mar 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]First of all, Carrey lookings NOTHING like the real Steve Russell, however I enjoyed his and Macgregor's performances. Thoroughly genuine, it made you laugh and much as it made you cry as well.On a much deeper level, it made me sad to see a man who was given a chance at real love and happiness with his love interest Phillip Morris (Macgregor) yet he could not stop himself from lying and being the con man that he was. One of Carrey's better films in a LONG time, I was particularly surprised at how versatile Macgregor could be as the very lovable, very convincing life partner to Carrey's character, Steve Russell.Well worth a watch. I recommend that you see it: it's really excellent if you're looking for a film that will make you laugh AND cry and will keep you guessing till the very end!

Strangely and Wonderfully Bizarre!!By yanbart (135 reviews) , 06 Nov 2013A Very Good Film. Very clever and something completely different! Very refreshing. I never thought that McGregor could look and act so Camp!! Brilliant performances from him and Carey.
a cracker of a yarnBy davidginsberg (114 reviews) from London , 17 Oct 2013One of the strangest mainstream films I have seen in a long time and all the better for it. Jim Carey is Stephen a g*y former cop turned con man who falls in love with Ewan McGregors Phillip Morris in prison. This is part con story, part prison story, part love story wrapped up with a really dark comic bow. It is one of these films where you really dont know what is going to happen next. It goes from a scene of broad comedy to some very unsettling moments. Carey one of my favourite comic actors is on good form here lots of gurning and gangling but also a few moments of serious emotion. Ewan McGregor is really pretty good in this, his accent may be a bit off but he really plays it well as the vulnerable love interest who is put through the emotional mill by Carey. This wont be to everyones taste and it tanked big style in the states but I thought it was excellent. One of these films where a story is all the more incredible for being true. Well worth a watch
Pretty goodBy a customer , 27 Aug 2013I have to say i'm quite surprised how much I enjoyed this film. Judging by some of the reviews here, it didn't give it enough credit, but its definitely worth a watch.
Rubber FaceBy Battan (1 review) from Prestatyn , 12 Aug 2013Love this film. So romantic and also twisted. And it's true!!! Great acting and a quality script. Excellent. Shows how great JC can be when he's not doing his usual rubber faced stint.
