My current obsession.By LivingFire (9 reviews) from Cramlington , 21 Nov 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]As far as I am concerned, this series will be permenently serieslinked on Sky+ for me as long as it continues to air. It is my weekly fix of everything SATC used to give me but different enough to mean it doesn't feel like a rerun of what I've already seen.
I was a little suprised at the length of S1, it seemed to be over in a blink, but i'm hoping that might have been because the 1st seasons are sometimes a little shorter as they're still testing the water really.
I have to say, I have this on my reserved list already and feel a strong comulsion to watch it again.
Personally, I find Nico to be my favourite character (but that could well be me living vicariously through her and thinking Kirby is too hot to be legal) but Victory has a certain reluctant sweetness, in an almost childlike way. I'll leave all the interesting bits for you to see for yourself, but let me say if you missed this when it aired, and you're a fan of this type of show, rent it!

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideI dont get this. It seems disjointed. I have not read the book but this follows the careers of three career women of a certain age who lack personality. The supporting characters lack charm, character and charisma. Maybe this concept has just been done too many times and for too long.
Sex and the City is about career women but there was less of a focus on their jobs- hence the title of the series I guess. What is missing with Lipstick Jungle is humour. Im just not sure about any of the casting either compared to other shows. This looks so dated. The script is so mediocre; it is almost too much about every day life with women just complaining all the time about everything and anything and never happy. The acting is also OTT is many places. The script is 100% predictable you know exactly what is going to happen and there are zero surprises or twists.
I guess in a superficial way, the beautiful people on the OC and Gossip Girl have spoilt us. Lipstick Jungle is not full of cute looking people, from the men, women and the kids. And the English hubby just sounds so strange against all the American cast. His scruffy look is not sexy like Rufus on Gossip Girl- he just looks like he needs a good shave and a stylist Even the new billionaire boyfriend making grand gestures as he invites his girlfriend for dinner trips to Miami and Paris is not convincing. He himself lacks any charm for you to even care. The only good looking guy is the playboy Kirby, but then his role is reduced to just that.
There is no depth to this so you cannot get excited about anything. The make-up, hairstyles and wardrobe lack pazazz. There are also women out to get other women for no apparent reason. One character had an affair and I have no idea why. The only thing that can save this show is a complete re-cast and buffing up the screenwriters. I will see what happens in series 2 and if there is any improvement.

It's okayBy hannahx200 (34 reviews) from Leeds , 20 Apr 2010I class this as middle of the road, it's okay but nothing special. Having said that it is very faithful to the book so I suspect there was simply nothing else to work with.
I wouldn't watch this again but don't class it as a waste of time.
