Great version of a classic
By a customer , 03 Jan 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
My favourite adaptation of the novel, true to the book and the series of episodes means there's little deviation from the original literature. Definitely worth viewing if you're a fan of period dramas... or Colin Firth! Beautiful scenery and shooting.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)This adaptation is brilliant - definitely recommended
By Jo_LF (1 review) , 26 May 2013I absolutely love this P&P adaptation. I watched it on a whim one day and fell in love with it and I've been an Austen addict ever since! This version follows the book fairly closely (although the book has some extra scenes that help to build the relationships better over time so DO read it if you're wondering whether you need to) and has great quality sets, costumes, cinematography - it's all delightful. Definitely recommended for anyone who likes period pieces or charming romances.- Was this review helpful to you?

Delightfully romantic classic
By queen_mouse (2 reviews) , 08 May 2013Absolutely glorious adaptation of Austen's classic novel. Witty, charming and sweetly romantic with no over the top tendencies, this adaptation is true to the book and has aged very well. It has always been, and always will be, my favourite Austen adaptation. It is superior in every way to the 2005 Hollywood adaptation, which sadly reduced the story to an overtly cheesy and sappy soap opera. This mini-series is absolutely delightful in so many ways and is always worth a watch, even for people who might usually shy away from the period drama-genre.- Was this review helpful to you?

Austen at its TV best
By Ninotchka (3 reviews) from Shoeburyness, England , 04 Mar 2013The best adaptation of Austen's masterpiece!!! Besides the wonderful production of wardrobe, settings and locations, what I most love about this particular series is the wonderful performances. Jennifer Ehle is so believable and solid as Eliza Bennet... If you see her, you cringe when watching Khiera Knightley's performance of the same role! What about Firth as hateful/dashing Darcy? Mention must be made to Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet and David Bamber as Mr. Collins, absolutelyl impecable!!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Utter perfection!
By a customer , 18 Feb 2013An excellent adaptation, very close to Austen's the book, with brilliant wit and sharp humour. A million times better than the misguided 2005 movie, which seems to have mistaken Austen's sly classic for Charlotte Bronte's Wuthering Heights crossed with Mills & Boon- Was this review helpful to you?
